CHAPTER TEN
Madam Rosé
The weather is very cool today, i smiled recalling the first day i met George, my late husband. We both met in high school, he was a very brilliant person. Oh.., how we became lovers and got marred is still a surprise to me cause I had always hated him for he was a bookworm back then. I was less interested in guys who loves studying a lot.
He was a very generous human, he gave me everything have always wanted and loved me so much. It’s so sad he died young, i wish he is alive to see how his wonderful children has become.
“Ma’am, breakfast is served.” The voice of one of my maids, says.
“Alright dear.” I say, got up from the bed and walked towards the door. I got out as I headed to the dinning room.
She’s busy with her phone as usual when I sighted her seated on the dinning chair.
“Hey mom..” She says not taking her gaze from her phone’s screen.
“Well good morning to you too.” I smiled sitting down as the maids began dishing out our meal.
“Ma’am do you prefer coffee or juice?.” The cook asked Tonia who’s grinning at whatever she staring at on her phone.
“None.” She mutters.
The maid nods and excused herself. I sigh and looked at Tonia, have warned her about this silly habit of hers.
“Tonia, what did i tell you?.”
At last, she faced me dropping her phone. “I shouldn’t use my phone whenever we wanna eat?. Yeah, i know.” She rolls her eyes.
“Do as i say!.” I command.
“You know am twenty mom, am not a kid anymore.” She frowns.
I raised my brow at her as she sighed. “Fine…..whatever.” She rolls her eyes picking up her fork to eat.
“Good girl.” I smiled.
“Ma’am, you have a call.” A maid says descending from the staircase.
“From who?.” I ask.
“Sir Scott, ma’am.” She replies as she got close to us.
“Thank you.” I smiled, collect the phone and answered the call.
“Hi mom.” He says in a bright voice, well that’s good.
“Scott, how are you?.” I ask happy to hear his voice.
“Am good mom. I wanna tell you something.” He tells.
“What will that be son?.”
“Am getting married.” He says.
“What the h’ll?.” Tonia utters low as the water she was about to drink poured on her face.
I am as surprised as she is, what is Scott talking about???. How can he say this kind of thing in such a cool voice??. Does he know what he is talking about????.
“How….?. What do you mean Scott?.” I asked confusedly.
“You’ve always wanted me to get married so here is the good news.” He exclaimed.
“What the f**k are you blabbing about dkhead!.” Tonia yells loud enough for Scott to hear.
“Language Tonia!.” I scold as she hissed.
“Ugh!. Tonia is with you??.” Scott scoffs.
“Yes she came to visit me since she’s on her break. Anyways, I know that you ain’t dating anyone so how come you are suddenly getting married?. And why are you just telling me??.” I ask.
“Since you’re coming home, i wanted to surprise you.” He answer.
“Surprise me?.”
“Yes, ain’t you happy?.” He utters low.
“Of course I am!. I am so overjoyed! Tell me, who is the lucky woman??.”
“You’ll get to see her soon mom.” He chuckled.
“When is the wedding?.”
“Tomorrow.”
“Why tomorrow??. Isn’t that too quick??. Besides, how long have you two dated?.”
“We’ve known ourselves for months now and I really don’t wanna waste time, I love her so much mom.”
“Wow.” I exclaimed in surprise.
I can’t believe Scott’s saying these things, I never knew he can be so serious when it comes to love….. Wow, am really happy for my son.
“Will you make it by tomorrow?.” He asked.
“Yes, I and your sister, Tonia will surely be present!.”
“Thanks mom.”
“You’re welcome, bye.”
“Bye.” He hangs up.
I placed down my phone and looked at my daughter still with a surprise look.
“Your son is weird.” She shakes her head sideways.
“Don’t say that to your brother, he is older than you.”
“Yeah whatever.”.
“Anyways, let’s get pack our things. We’re flying back to America.” I smiled.
Oh Scott……he has made me proud!.

NEXT DAY
Riley
Fortunately, mom surgery began today. I feel so happy I have seen the money and at the same time sad cause I’ll soon be wedded with a mo$ster. But anyways, am still happy he fulfilled his promise by helping mom.
The doctor said I can see her two days after the surgery so i am at home. I really can’t wait for mom to recover, i really wanna hug her, kss her and tell her how much have missed her these past days. She means so much to me, she’s both my mom and dad and I love her so much.
I was kneeling beside my bed praying for mom to recover quickly, when i received a text message on my phone.
From Scott, it says; Get ready Riley.
Before i could think properly about the text, i heard knocks coming from the living room. I got up to my feet, walked out of my room and headed towards the living room.
“Who’s that?.” I ask politely.
“Please open the door.” The person who sounded like a lady answered.
Huh??.
I opened the door slowly to see two ladies at my door step. They were both holding big bags, and sht I am so confused.
“Please do i know y….”
I was cut off by the black haired one. “You should be miss Riley Martins?.”
“Yes…”
The blondie speaks. “We were sent here by Mr Scott to get you ready.”
“Ready?. For what?.” I ask.
They didn’t respond as they made their way inside my house.
“Wait….I didn’t tell you two to enter.” I folded my arms, still leaving the door wide open. Fk, am so lost!.
“There’s no time miss.” The blondie tells.
“Time for what?.”
“Weren’t you informed your wedding is today?.” She asks as the other lady was busying bringing out a makeup kit from her big bag.
What???. Am getting married to Scott…..today!!?. Why didn’t he tell me!!!.
I remembered the text he sent me, •Get ready Riley•
So this is what he meant…..I’ll be married to him today. Even if it’s just a fake marriage, i feel so sad am doing this.
“Shall we begin now?.” They asked in unison.
“Yeah.” I nodded slowly.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror, I….look so different but in a good way. I really can’t believe this is me, the wedding dress hugged my body perfectly.
I thought of mom, how will she feel if she knows am having a fake marriage?. Am sure she’ll be so heartbroken when she knows am doing this cause of her.
“We should get going miss.”
“Alright.” I say in a cracked voice.
The gown isn’t that too big so I was able to walk properly without anyone helping me with holding it from behind.
We walked out of my house, a car was parked at my front porch. The driver came out and opened the door for me as i got in.
The ladies both entered a different car and drove away.

“Am sorry mom.” I muttered low as I tried to force in the tears that wanted to fall so I won’t ruin the makeup.
