NIGHTMARE MARRIAGE : CHAPTER 1 – 20
DAYS LATER…

I was having a walk around our neighborhood when I heard a familiar sweet voice calling my name. I turned swiftly and looked at the person, she smiled at me and slowly walked towards where I was standing.
“Mom?.” I called with tears of joy.
I was about to run to her and hug her tight when a car appeared from nowhere and hit her.
“No!.” I ran to her as she was lying on the ground on her own pool of bIood.
“Mom!. Please stay with me, don’t do this!.” I weep.
“I…I..love you Riley.” She smiled weekly and slowly she closed her eyes as she stopped breathing.
“Mom??.” I shook her hand countless times but….she didn’t move an inch.
No!!!!.

I opened my eyes, screaming loud. Gosh, it was a dream!. Mom…..no!. She mustn’t die, she’s all I have. Dmn, I miss her so much.
I paid a visit at the hospital yesterday, mom’s condition is getting worse. It pained me so much to see her in that state.
I feel so frustrated, helpless and confused. Mom’s surgery is two days from now and I haven’t seen the money yet, I couldn’t stop thinking about her and…….that strange man as well.
How he knows my name still bothers me, he sounded like he knows me too well. How is that possible?.
I rose up to my feet, knelt down beside my bed, I clasped my hands and closed my eyes to pray.
“Lord, please make everything be alright. Let mom be fine cause i want to see her beautiful smile again, please Lord.”
“Amen.” I say, opened my eyes and stood up.
I walked to the bathroom after tidying up the house. I did my regular routine, got dressed and had a quick breakfast.
I already decided to sell some of our properties in order to raise the money. I just hope i get to meet up before the day of her surgery.

FAST FORWARD
~
I carried a tray laden with spaghetti and meatballs as ordered and walked towards the customer.
“Here’s your meal ma’am, please enjoy.” I say politely to the pretty woman as she nods.
My nightmare suddenly flashed to me as it sent chills down my nerves, making me to accidentally drop the meal on the woman’s dress.
I blinked twice in surprise. My heart raced, what have I done!? Oh no!.
“What did you do bch!?.” She yelled in anger, attracting other customer’s attention.
“Oh my God!. Am so sorry ma’am.” I rushed my words and quickly brought out a napkin from my apron to clean the stain off her dress.
She sIaps my hand from her clothe and looked at me in disgust.
“Take your filthy hands off me!. I demand to see the owner of this goddamned restaurant, immediately!.” She screamed loudly.
“Ma’am please it wasn’t intentional. Am so sorry.” I begged.
Cathy and Miranda rushed to us and began pleading at the woman on my behalf but she remained reluctant.
“What’s going on here?.” His thick voice asks as he walked towards us.
“Ma’am, please is there a problem?.” Mr Gray, asked in a very nice voice which is very unusual of him.
“Well, there is a problem!. Can’t you see the stain on my expensive cloth!. Your clumsy waitress did all this sht!.” She barked.
Mr Gray faced me with a stern look that almost made my soul to leave my body. At that instant, I knew I was done for…
He sighed and voiced out. “Am so sorry ma’am. Please forgive us, it won’t happen again.” He tells calmly.
“Go to h’ll. I can’t believe i wasted my time and money here, fk!.” She cussed as she carried her clutch and stormed out of our restaurant.
One could tell Mr Gray felt embarrassed cause all the customers were staring at us.
“Sorry everyone, please enjoy your meal.” Says Mr Gray at everyone who averted their attention from us to their foods.
“Get back to work.” He tells Cathy and Miranda as they nodded in response.
“To my office, Riley..” He tells in a low voice through gritted teeth and walked past me.

After cleaning up the mess i made, i headed towards Mr Gray’s office as instructed. I knocked on the door and entered immediately he responded harshly.
“Come in.”
“Am so sorry sir.” I apologized instantly, lowering my head in sadness.
“Save it!. I don’t need your stupid apology!. I want you to pull off that dress and get the fk out of my restaurant!.” He gave me a dirty stare.
What?!.
I raised up my head with widened eyes. “Sir….?.” I stuttered.
“You’re fired!.”
“But…I…please don’t do this sir!. Am deeply sorry, please don’t send me away, this is the only job I have sir.”
“Do I look like I give a sht about that?!. You embarrassed me in front of everyone and made that woman insult me like a piece of trash. You’ve done enough for this restaurant, now pack whatever things you own here and leave my restaurant!.” He half yelled.
I knelt down with tears. “I promise to be responsible, please give me another chance. Mr Gray please am begging you. This is little way I can help my mom, please don’t fire me.”
“To h’ll with you and your miserable mother. Get up and get out or else I’ll call the corps on you for theft.” He says.
I quickly stood up when he grabs his phone and starts to dial a number on it. I slowly walked to the door as I cried.
“I don’t want to see your stinky face in this place, ever again!.” I heard him yell when I left his office.
I went to the changing room and put on my clothes. I can’t believe this is happening to me!. What will I do now??. Can’t believe am jobless…….
I left the restaurant through the back exist, I didn’t want to face Cathy or Miranda. I just felt like being alone….this is too much for me.

I walked home sluggishly as I cried my eyes out, people were staring at me probably wondering why would a lady cry in public but I didn’t care.
My life is a mess, why can’t everything just be okay!. It seems things are getting worse day by day for me…..gosh!. What will I do now??..

Scott.
My anger increased as I scrolled through my phone, that fking news is spreading really fast in the internet. I seriously can’t wait for all this bullsht to be over.
“Morning bro,what’s up?.” Says sister Yuri, descending from the staircase.
“Hey.” I respond.
“How many times have I warned you not to drink and smoke very early!. It isn’t good for your health and you know that!.” She moves towards me.
“Sure.” I scoffed and dropped the glass of red wine on the table next to the couch I sat on.
“Anyways, how is your company doing?. You know it has been a while you went to office.”
“It’s under control, I made my secretary in charge for a little while.”
“Oh ok.”
She nods and walked towards the kitchen to make breakfast. I sighed, puffing out smoke from the cigarette in between my index finger.
My phone vibrated, I glimpsed at the caller as my heart skipped. Fk!!. I stared at the phone in my hand as it kept on ringing, I feel so scared to pick the call.
“Hey Scott, what would you want for breakfast?.” Sister Yuri asked coming out from the kitchen, she noticed how scared i suddenly became as she moved close to me.
“What’s wrong and why ain’t you picking the call?. Is it one of your flings?.”
I wish….
I showed her the phone screen as she lets out a gasp.
“Mom…..has she found out?.”
“I have no idea sis.”
“Pick it, you can’t ignore her call.” She tells as i nod.
I heaved out a deep breathe and answered the call, her lovely voice came in.
? Son, how are you doing my dear?.” She asks.
? Am….fine mom.” I say, sister Yuri stared at me confusedly. I placed the call in loud speaker so she could hear our conversation.
Mom’s asking how am doing……..?. Isn’t she supposed to start yelling at me on the phone for being a g.ay even if it isn’t true.
? Well that’s amazing. Are you hearing from Tonia and your elder sister?.”
? I am mom. Is everything alright over there and how’s business?.”
? Very fine and stressful my dear but anyways, I am coming back to America so expect my visit very soon dear.”
What the fk??.
? Scott??. Scott??. Are you there?.” She called, I didn’t even realize when i became quiet.
? Yeah sorry.” I say.
? Alright, be good and my regards to your sisters. Okay?.”
?Yes mom. Bye.” I disconnect the call.
“Okay….it’s a good thing she hasn’t heard about the news.” Sister Yuri sighs.
“But she’s coming home soon.”
“You’ll have to be fast about this plan of yours or else things are gonna be bad for you and our reputation. Mom will be so disappointed if she gets to know.”
“It’s quiet surprising she isn’t aware yet.”
