I struggled to open my eyes with a serious headache, all parts of my body aches a lot. What’s happening to me?. Why am i feeling so much pain???.
“She’s awake..” A faint voice exclaimed, i looked at my side to see a small boy, am sure he would be six by age, wearing a torn blue jersey and grey shorts. His face looks pale but a smile stayed on his lips. He was sitting on a chair beside me. Who is he?. I didn’t even notice his presence.
I watched with confusion as he ran out of the room with his teddy bear. I managed to sit up and looked around. Where the fk am i?????.
How did i end up in this strange room?.
The door creaked open, revealing the same kid and a short woman. I looked closely at ’em with surprise, the woman smiled as she got closer to me while the boy stood behind the door holding on to his one eared teddy bear.
“How are you dear?.” The woman asked, staring at me with so much concern.
I glanced around again and faced her. “Where am I?.” I managed to speak.
“Oh, you’re at my house dear. Please tell me how you’re feeling. Do you still feel pains??, how is your arm?.” She said.
My arm…?. I looked down at it, it’s heavily bandaged. Gosh….it hurts, i can’t even move it properly!. What the fk happened to me?.
“Who are you please and how…how…did…i..end…up…here…?.” I stuttered.
“Am Mrs James but call me Jennifer and this is my son, Kevin.” She pointed at the boy who walked to us.
“We found you lying unconscious at our backyard, we were so scared cause you lost so much blood that night, we had to rush you to the hospital and you got treated there. We didn’t have enough money with us to continue your treatment at the hospital, so we brought you here since we couldn’t just leave you there.” She explained.
What?????!. Tears trailed down my cheeks. Yes….now i remember what happened to me!. It was Jacob….!. Yes….he shot me cause i wanted to tell Ryan everything about him.
” Am so happy you’re finally awake.” Kevin tells with an adorable smile.
“Kevin, go and do the dishes now.” She faced her son.
“Okay mom.” He answered obediently and went out.
“Thank you so much for everything, please how long have i been here?.” I was so curious to know.
“Almost a month now.” She said as i gasped.
“What??!.”
“It’s a good thing you’re alive dear,but….am sorry you lost your child in the process.” She sighed.
“My child??. What are you talking about?.”
“Yes, your unborn child. Didn’t you know you were pregnant?.”
Say what now???!. Pregnant ??????. I bursted into another hot tears. I was carrying a child for that d’vil who ruined my life!!???. God…why is this happening to me???. Who have I offended to deserve all these!??.
“Am sorry dear. What happened to you?. Do you remember who did this to you??.. Can you please tell me?.”
With a broken and devastated heart, I told her everything. About my relationship with Ryan, how Jacob succeeded in separating us and how he got rid of me.
“Oh my God!. Am so sorry dear….how can a fellow human be so wicked???. How can he do this to you!.”
“He always felt like a third wheel around us.”
“He has no right to do that to you!!. He is a friend to your fiancé, so????. Only someone who isn’t in his right senses behave like that!!.” She angrily exclaimed.
She gently pulled me in a cuddle. “Please cry no more, we are here for you. What happened has happened, don’t think about it, please. Focus on thanking God you’re not dead but alive, please don’t cry my dear.” She muttered low.
“Thank you so much ma’am.” I said after we withdrew from each other.
“Oh please just call me Jennifer.” She smiled as she wiped off my tears with a hanky.
“By the way, what is your name?.”
“Melissa.”
“Nice to meet you dear.”

I got home with the two bags of foodstuff i bought from the market. Ever since my husband died, It hasn’t really been easy for I and my son. I work as a cleaner in other for us to survive.
It became even more difficult for us the day Melissa came into our life till now, but am happy especially Kevin cause he had always wanted an elder sister.
Hearing her story saddens me a lot, she has gone through a lot and i pity her so much. Am happy she’s recovering and getting used to us now.
I entered into our small living room immediately Kevin, opened the door. “Welcome mommy.” He giggled, giving me a hug.
“Thank you baby, how was school today?.”
“Fine mommy.”
He helped me with one of the bags as we walked to the kitchen together. “Am home Lisa!.” I said loud so she could hear my voice from the room we all share together.
“Lisa, am…”
“Mommy she won’t answer you.” Kevin cut in.
“Why?.”
“Because she isn’t around.” He shrugged.
“Huh?. Where did she go to?. Did she tell you?.”
“She said she wanted to take a walk.”
“Okay, go to the room and do your assignment.”
“Yes mommy.”
Where could she have gone to???. I heard a knock on the door, I rushed towards it and opened it. A bright smile formed on my lips, i opened the door wide enough for her to enter.
“Mom, you’re back.” She got in.
“You went for a walk..?.”
“Not really…” She sighed.
“Tell me about it.”
“I had to give him a warning…” She replied.

I let out an angry sigh when his call came in on my phone, what the h’ll does he want now??. I scoffed and tapped on decline . I don’t need him now, so he shouldn’t disturb me with his fking call, he isn’t important now…..!.
My phone vibrated again. I sighed and stood up on my feet, walked towards the closet since it’s far from the door and answered the call.
“Yeah?.” I asked angrily.
“Hey Jess sweetheart.” He said.
I ran my hand into my hair as i rolled my eyes. “What do you want?. Why are you disturbing me with your call??!.”
“Hey….babe, you have been ignoring my call since last week, have I done anything wrong???. Is this because of Tonia….common babe, we can talk about this….and..”
“It isn’t about Tonia okay!.” I cut in.
“Then….why have you turned a blind eye towards me??.” He asked calmly.
“I…I am busy with something very important okay.” I muttered.
“Common Jess, I miss you so much!. I can’t stop myself from thinking about you, i really need you…”
I scoffed. “Daniel, like I said, I am busy at the moment.”
“With what?.” He asked.
I felt so pissed at his stupid questions, fool!. He doesn’t just get the fact that i don’t need his thing now and i’m busy with catching a big fish, Scott!.
With time, am gonna make him mine!. No one would share him with me cause he belongs to only me, Jessica Smith.
Well, am still in his house, waiting for him and that snitch arrival. I have no idea where they went to and thinking about it makes me extremely mad!.
“With…..” I was about to voice out a reply when someone knocked on the door.
“Got to go.” I whispered to him.
“Huh….why?.”
I disconnected the call as the knock on the door continued. I breathe in adjusting my hair and walked to get it.
I almost flinched when i opened it to see her, i wore a fake smile and voiced out. “Hey T, what’s up?.” I asked, hoping she didn’t hear the conversation between that fool and i.
“Hi, dinner is ready. ” She said.
“Oh uh thanks babe.”
She stopped when she turned to leave. “By the way, were you talking to someone?. I heard voices.”
“Uh…yeah. It’s a friend of mine from Los Angeles, he called cause you know…..misses me.” I lied.

“Awwn, anyways let’s go eat something.” She giggled, holding my wrist.
“Yeah.” I agreed and trailed behind her.
