CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR
Riley.
The morning sun’s out, i stood up from the bed and headed to the bathroom straight, I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I suddenly felt nauseous that I had to throw up, I rinsed my mouth with water and peeked at my reflection in the mirror opposite me. Gosh, I must have ate so much last night. I never knew Scott can cook, it’s still surprising what he did last night. He was so gentle like a lamb and I was so freaked out he didn’t get mad at me for asking him questions, the Scott I used to know is very hot tempered.
I stepped out of the bathroom and headed out of my room. Am craving for pancakes this morning so I’m making myself some.
I sighted him when I got to the living room. He’s dressed in one of his expensive tuxedos with his brief case on the couch as his back faced me.
“Good morning.” I greeted and passed him, heading to the kitchen.
“Morning Riley.” I heard clearly from him. About to take a step into the kitchen when he called my name, again.
“Riley.”
I turned around to face him. “Yes?.” I asked.
“Can you please help me with this?.” He said referring at the necktie he’s trying to wear.
Okay….he asked nicely..?. He even added the word ‘please’. Isn’t that weird??. I thought he was going to transform back to his old self this morning but guess I was wrong.
Again, what has gotten into him?.
“Uhm okay.” I stated.
I walked close to him as his cologne filled my nostril, I began helping him to knot his necktie. I did my best not to look at him, gosh….I just realize how short I am next to him.
“There…” I said after I was done.
“Thank you.” He said, I nodded and turned to walk towards the kitchen. Surprisedly, he held my hand as his lips curved into a small smirk, he gently pulled me to himself….making us very close to each other. I was astonished by his action, he leaned his face to my ears and whispered.
“You’re so beautiful Riley….”
What the heck?!. I gulped silently, having that same feeling i experienced again when we kssed at that party.
I was shocked, …not able to do anything. He kssed my neck and I couldn’t help but moan softly and then my lips again, this time I found myself reciprocating.
Ding Dong!. The sound of the doorbell separated us. Geez…what just happened??. I felt shy instantly as my cheeks became red, I looked down avoiding his gaze.
“Come in.” Scott said, clearing his throat. The door opened revealing Jack, his driver.
“Good morning sir, ma’am.” He greeted.
“Morning. I’d be right behind you Jack.” He told him.
“Alright sir.” He walked out.
I felt weird when he faced me. “I uh..i..” I couldn’t even speak well cause of how nervous I became, how stupid!.
He smirked, took two more steps to me and pecked my lips. My breathe seized at once!.
“Take care Ry.” He muttered. He carried his briefcase and also headed out of the living room, leaving me in a puzzled state.
I touched my lips….he kssed me again…! I smirked, thinking of how he called me Ry…I kind of like it whenever he calls me that.
Okay….well that just happened…! My stomach grumbled loudly, oh yeah I almost forgot I was hungry….how stupid of me!.

I opened my eyes feeling extremely weak as I couldn’t move my body. I glanced around, I’m in my room….how the hell did I get here??. Just then, I noticed a guy dressed in white coat like the one doctors usually wear. He held a cigarette in between his fingers as he walked to me and smiled.
“Boss you’re awake.” He said.
“Josh..” I recognized him. He is the guy who usually treats us whenever we get injured from any operation we carry.
The door suddenly busted open, she walked inside as her face radiated with happiness when her eyes met mine. She ran towards my bed and hugged me tight.
“Ouch.” I muttered.
“You’re finally awake!.” She exclaimed happily, knotting her brows in concern.
“Yeah…now tell me what the fk happened to me.” I asked them after she withdrew from me.
“You got poisoned Jay.” Josh said.
“What??. How??.” I said confusedly.
“It’s true Jay, it’s really odd cause according to Josh, it’s the same poison we planned on giving Scott.” Jessica exclaimed.
“How did it get to my drink?.” I muttered in disbelief.
“I have no idea Jay, it’s really strange. If not for Samuel who had to quickly bring you home, I don’t know what could have happened.” She said.
“So what now?.” I asked Josh.
“Well…..” He puffed out smoke and continued, “No worries boss. I already injected the antidote into you. You should be fine in the next thirty minutes.” He answered.
“Thanks a lot Josh.” Jess faced him.
“No prob boss. I’ll be on my way now, take care and make sure you don’t stress yourself.” He told me as he held a bag.
“Alright.”
He nodded his response and walked out of my room, I turned to face Jessica as I sat up with her assistance. “I wonder how you took the poison, I’m very sure I gave it to Scott that night!.” She complained.
“You tell me….” I scoffed angrily.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that…!. Don’t you dare think I’d try to poison you.” She exclaimed.
I sighed, feeling very confused. Could….could Jessica planned on poisoning me??. Or is she saying the truth?.
? “See me now?.” ?
? Get ready for your end ba$tard.” ?
I suddenly remembered those words, it kept on echoing in my ears….who said that to me and where did I hear it from???.??. The last place I went to was the party right…..?.
Sweats gathered on my forehead as I tried to remember what exactly happened that moment.
Yeah…!. Now I know, I still recall how i became helpless on the floor when I took the poison. A lady came to me, I remembered vividly she bent down close to me and yes, she’s the one that said those things to me.
“Jay, are you okay?. You ain’t saying something.” Jessica said worriedly.
I kept quiet, still thinking about that strange lady….
“Jay….” She called.
I stood up from the bed and walked to my closet. Josh’s right, I do feel strong already, I brought out my gun as Jessica became shocked.
“Jay…what’s up with you?.” She asked.

My heart skipped with fear immediately he brought out his gun from his wardrobe, he caressed it with a very deadly look on his face as my heart raced the more. What’s he thinking about???. Is he thinking I poisoned him???. And why the h’ll is he suddenly holding that?.
“Jay…what’s up with you?.” I had to ask cause I was already panicking.
He looked at me as he caressed the gvn in his palms. “Melissa..” He groaned.
“Huh?.”
“She fking did this to me!.” He yelled in anger.
“What are you talking about?.”
“I remember everything that happened, she said some sh*tty words to me and am definitely certain she’s responsible for this.” He smirked angrily.
“Wait….hold on!. You mean you saw Melissa at the party?.” I retorted bewilderedly.
“Yeah. I don’t know how she knew about the party or how she entered but what I do know is that, she gave me the poison…..”
“Then, that means she already knew our plans…” I said.
“Yes. That whore….she thinks she’s smart huh???!.” He chuckled.
“She must be working with someone…..someone who’s close to us, I think.” I suggested.
“Who could it be?.” I thought.
“Who else????. Who else but her lover.”
“Ryan??.”
“Yeah Jessy, remember what he told me….who he mysteriously saw at that restaurant.”
“Melissa.” I said. “So…you’re saying they might be working together huh?.”
“Maybe.” He responded through gritted teeth.
“So what now?.”
He smirked devilishly. “Now I have seen enough evidence that she lives. She isn’t dead but hiding somewhere not far from here, oh Jessica….she’s gonna hear it from me!.”
“What bout Scott….that means he didn’t take the poison.”
“Of course he didn’t.” He frowned. He dipped the gun into his pocket and moved to where his phone is, on the nightstand. I watched as he began dialing a number on his phone…
“Who is he calling?.” I thought.
“Hey Phil…” He said on the phone, oh it’s one of his boys as usual.
“Where did you say you saw that lady we murdered?.” He asked as he placed his phone on loud speaker so I can hear.
“Well, we saw her passing by a local store boss.” Phil responded.
“Oh really?.”
“Yes boss, any problem sir?.”
“I need you and some thugs to carry out some investigation concerning where she lives, I know it would be around that area you guys saw her.”
“Alright boss.”
“Call me when you’re done and be fast about it!.” He half yelled.

“I will boss.” Phil said and hung up.
He tossed his phone away and faced me. “It’s time Jessica.”
