CHAPTER FIFTY SIX
I kept pacing around, praying silently as we waited for the doctor to come out and tell us what’s happening to mom. They’ve been inside for almost an hour, I’m so worried and my mind isn’t at rest at all.
Ryan left where he stayed and walked towards me, he pulled me to a hug and patted my back gently. “It’s okay Lisa, she’ll be fine.” He said softly.
I couldn’t help but to shed silent tears, I didn’t wish to wake up sleepy Kevin who already sacked out on the chair he sat on. I withdrew from Ryan and glimpsed at Kevin, “His mom is inside there Ryan, she’s fighting for her life and she’s in this situation cause of me.”
He wiped off my tears with his thumb and smiled warmly at me. “You have to be calm Lisa, i believe Mrs James will be alright. Stop worrying and just have faith.”
I sighed, forcing a smile. “Alright.” I nodded.
Suddenly, the door busted open revealing the doctor. At long last!. We rushed to him, “Sir, please how’s she?.” I asked impatiently.
“Calm down miss, she’s okay. We successfully removed the buIIet, she’s very lucky the buIIet did no damage to her kidney.” He exclaimed.
I smiled happily. “So can we see her now?.”
“Of course but please do not disturb her cause she has to rest well.” He said.
“Alright, thank you doc.” Ryan shook hands with the doctor.
“You’re welcome.” He said taking his leave.
I tapped Kevin awake and carried him as we got into the wardroom. Oh mom…!. She looks really pale with bandages on her stomach.
“Mummy…” Kevin stated immediately he sighted his mother, he left my arms and moved towards her bed.
“Kevin?” She muttered low, opening her eyes.
“Mummy are you okay?.” He asked.
“Of course I am baby.” She responded with a small smile.
I also moved towards her, feeling guilty. I know this happened to her cause of me!.
“Mom….I…”
“It’s okay Lisa, it isn’t your fault.” She cuts in.
Tears streaked down my cheeks. “I put you in danger, I know it was Jacob that shot you…..I’m so sorry mom…am really sorry.” I sobbed.
“Oh Lisa, don’t be. Like I said, it isn’t your fault.” She smiled.
“How are you feeling now ma’am?.” Ryan, who stood at the door side asked.
“Am fine Ryan, thank you”

“So what do you intend on doing?.” Ryan asked me immediately we walked out of the ward, mom felt sleepy so we had to leave her to rest.
“Well, things are very messy now…..he already knows am alive, I didn’t plan for any of this to happen.” I sighed.
“I know. But Jay….I know he is still coming back, he won’t just stop here.”
“Yeah, we have to act quick before anyone gets hurt again, I won’t let that happen!.” I said.
“What are your suggestions?.” He asked.
“I know you’re nervous to tell Scott bout Jay’s true intentions…”
“Yeah…” He admitted.
“But it’s time you do that, there’s no time to waste. Who knows what might go wrong if we kept on waiting for the perfect time.”
“You’re right.”
“You should go now Ryan, Kevin and I will stay here with mom.”
“Be careful.”
“You too.” I kssed his cheek and walked back inside to meet mom and Kevin.

Call me crazy…but I was very excited to go home, I don’t know if it felt wrong cause the eagerness was too much. I carried the two shopping bags and headed inside, I told Jack to stop at the mall on our way home, to get her some classy outfits.
Of course my heart raced excitedly immediately I stood in front of our bedroom. I didn’t see her at the living room so she has to be inside, probably sleeping.
I placed a gentle knock on the door and waited for her to open it. A minute passed, she hasn’t opened the door. I knocked gently again, no response. Thrice, still the same.
“Is she mad at me?, is she ignoring me?.” I thought, suddenly becoming worried.
Nope!. I shrugged it off. She can’t be mad at me…we didn’t quarrel this morning, right?. So I see no reason why she’d just get angry at me and not open the door. Or is she in the bathroom?.
“Ry….” I called softly.
“Riley…?.” I repeated.
Whoa…, she isn’t answering. Why the heck is she not opening the door!?.
I twisted the door knob and it opened, it wasn’t even locked the whole time.
I got inside, the room…..she’s nowhere to be found. I dropped the bags on the bed and headed to the bathroom. She’s not there, where is she?.
I dashed out of the room and went to check the kitchen, same thing. I chuckled nervously, is she trying to mess with me?.
“Riley, this isn’t funny okay!. Come out now!.” I yelled.
Yet, no response.
I quickly averted my gaze at the door when it busted open. I expected it to be her but it turned out to be….Ryan?.
“Ryan?.” I called surprisedly.
“Scott.”
“Bro..what’s up?..what are you doing here?.” I asked feeling disappointed.
“Am good. I came to tell you something important.” He rushed his words.
“Look Ryan…, I’m not in the mood for any party right now okay, if that’s what you came here to talk about.” I said.
“Trust me, it isn’t bout party. You’ve gat to calm down to hear what I’m gonna tell ya.” He stated.
I’m not really interested in what he has to say, Riley occupied my mind. Did she leave this house or what?. Where the fk did she go to or is she playing games with me!. She should better stop this!.
“Bro…seriously i’m not in the mo…”
“Wait!.” He sharply cut in.
“What?.” I asked getting annoyed.
He looked around and faced me. “Where’s Riley?.” He asked, arching a brow at me, staring at me with the most serious look ever.
“Huh…?.”
“Where is she?.” He repeated.
“Okay, that’s something I’d like to talk about.” I said and continued, “I can’t find her, I don’t know where she went to.”
“You saw her this morning right?.”
“Fk yeah!.”
“Oh no…..oh no!.” He muttered pacing around.
“What?.”
He faced me. “Bro…am sorry to say this but i think she might be in danger.”
“Are you ¢razy?.”
“Am not bro. I know what am talking about, I wish I had warned you on time!.”
“What are you talking about?!.”
He sighed. “I’ll explain.”

At this moment, I had no choice but to tell him everything, concerning Melissa, the party where he could have taken poison and most importantly, Jacob.
He stood up with annoyance, thew the object next to him on the tiled floor as it broke to pieces.
“Scott…calm down please.” I begged, standing up.
“Why are you just telling me!.” He half yelled.
“Am sorry Scott, I tried but Jay kept getting in the way.” I explained.
“How could he do this to us?.” He muttered low, looking hurt.
“I don’t know bro, right now…we should try to figure out a way to find Riley. Am sure Jacob has something to do with her sudden disappearance.” I said.
“Gosh…I’m going to kill him if he tries anything funny with her!.” He swore.
“We have to plan.”
He wanted to speak when the sound of his phone ringing interrupted him. He stared at the screen and looked at me, “Speak of the d’vil.” He said.
“Answer it.” I told him.
He picked it and placed it on speakerphone. “Hey bro….” The d’vil said.
“Jacob, you ba$tard!.” Scott cussed.
He laughed, one could sense how devilish he is through his laughter. “Oh…i see, that punk must have told you huh…well, that isn’t a problem..”
“How could you Jay!. How could you do this to us…?. I thought we are friends?!.” Scott said.
“Fk friendship!. It ain’t in my vocabulary, I only get close to people to get what I want, that’s all.”
“Where’s my wife!?.” He yelled angrily.
“Wife you say???. Or you mean the bch you forced in signing a contract….”
“I don’t give a fk about that, where the h’ll is she you ungrateful piece of sht!.”
“She’s with me…”
“Jacob don’t you dare…”
“Oh yeah, trust me dear friend, i’m gonna make sure before I ki.ll her, i’m gonna have a taste of her…..you’re not gonna be selfish are you?.”
“Don’t you dare!.” Scott cut in.
“Well watch and see..” He chuckled.

Scott ran his fingers through his hair, he looked very angry and frustrated. He sighed and voiced out low, “what do you want Jay?.”
