“Nicky, pls calm down”
“You keep telling me to calm down, why should I? I’m over glad that I’m a mother now and my child is with the nurses…. And…”
“The child’s dead” I said with a little bit of courage and tears formed in my eyes. I expected her to start crying or asking me how it happened but it shocked me to see her laughing…
“What’s funny?” I asked her but she kept laughing.
“You should see your face right now?. Alfred, there’s many things to joke about but not the death of a child. Stop pulling my legs and get me my daughter” she said and laughed even more.
“Darling, I’m not joking. I mean it. The child died”
“Alfredo stop, I’m not in the mood to laugh with you. Stop playing this pranks with me and get me my child. You don’t keep a new mother waiting, you don’t” she said with seriousness
“Nicky, I’m not joking. It was a boy and he’s dead and buried….”
“Dead? Buried?… No, no, no, nooo….. Tell me you’re joking! You’re joking right?” She kept saying and was touching my face…
“You’re joking right?” She said and looked me in the eyes but I just couldn’t maintain eyes contact with her so I looked down.
“Say something Alfred, say something. My child’s not dead right?”
“Its dead, I’m serious the baby couldn’t make it. It died after it was operated out of your womb, I’m so sorry” I said and she stopped touching me and remained calm… But I could see the tears that fell from her eyes, tears of bitterness and sorrow, tears of sadness and agony.
“Was it a boy or a girl?” She asked and I could see the change in her voice.
“A fine boy” I whispered and looked at her but her eyes were at the window and tears were on those eye balls of hers.
“I’m sorry” I said cos I think I’m the cause of the child’s death, if only I didn’t let that girl blind me…. If only I listened to her, all this would have been prevented.
“Why? why? why? why?” She screamed and started hitting her legs on the bed.
“Why?” She kept saying and started ripping the gown she was wearing apart.
“Nicky calm down” I said and rushed to where she was and tried holding her before she gets injured.
“Leave me alone, why did all this happen? You knew how much I wanted to have my child in my arms…. You knew how much I prepared everything for the child’s birth…
What wrong have I done to warranty the death of the baby, why do the good ones always experience a lot of pain. I’m certain I haven’t wronged anyone and even if I have, I’m sorry….
Why did God take back what he gave me without letting me see the face of my child…. Why?” She said and started weeping uncontrollably.
“Leave me alone” she said and kept pushing me away from her body.
“Nicky, calm down. I’m sorry, I’m sorry” I said but she still pushed me.
“Leave me alone, your sorry can’t bring back the child. Just get out, get out… I want to see my parents, I want to see my family. Get out!” She yelled and just then the doctor ran in….
“Mr Dickson, what’s going on? What’s wrong with her?” He asked me and ran towards her….
“Leave me alone” Nicky screamed and tried her best to get the doctor away from her.
“You shouldn’t have told her about the dead child”
“But I had to, I had to tell her about the child” I said and ruffled my hair…
“You know she hasn’t properly recovered”
“I know but I had to tell her the news sooner”
“You both should leave me alone, I need time to digest this… And get this man out of here. It’s all his fault, if only I was with my parents all this wouldn’t have happened. I knew how much I begged you to let me go stay with them cos they’d be able to take care of me but what did you say…
You said no! Now see where your stubbornness had let me to… You don’t know the pains of carrying a child and loosing it even before you could kss it… You just don’t know” she said and let those tears fall freely from her eyes.
“Nicky, I’m sorry…” I said and wanted to come close to her but she screamed and jerked backward.
“Tell this man to leave me alone, leave me alone…. I hate you Alfredo, I hate you” she said and I could see the hate in her eyes.
“I’m sorry…”
“Get away from me… You’re the cause of his death and I’m certain you planned it with that concubine of yours. I told you that I wasn’t comfortable with her presence but what did you still do…. Instead you told me to shut up…. You did! Just get out, I don’t wanna see your face.. You’ll always remain a beast, a mon$ter!” She said and placed her head on her knee cap and cried even more.
“Pls sir just leave, she needs to be alone now” the doctor said and led me outside the room.

Alfredo’s home?
I and Jade were staying at Alfredo’s house, he told us that he wanted to get something at the mall and till now he isn’t back.
We all wanted to go to the hospital together so that we could see how Nicky was faring and is Alfredo that we’re waiting for…
Viviana whom was there too wasn’t even at least bothered about the family predicament, she was even filing her nails. She wasn’t even acting like an orphan or someone that had experienced any harsh treatment from the world.
I still don’t like her and I’m always trying my best to avoid her.
Just then the door opened and Alfredo entered, he was crying and we both rushed to him; I and Jade.
“Alfredo, what’s the matter?” Jade asked him immediately.
“Are you okay?” She asked again.
“Speak to us please” Viviana said out of no where.
“Say something” I said to him.
“Is Nicky okay?” I asked.
“Yes she is, she’s awake and I told her about the dead child”
“Alfredo, I thought we said, we’ll tell her when she has fully recovered?”
“I know but she kept asking me questions about him and I couldn’t hold it anymore but to tell her”
“How was her reaction”
“Bitter, she’s really not herself anymore. First she thought it was joke but not till her assured her that it was true….
In fact she blames me, she’s so mad at me….” He said and tears fell from his eyes.
“Gush! Poor Nicky???? ”
“What are we gonna do now?”
“Let’s just go and see her” Jade suggested.
“No don’t, she doesn’t even want to see any other person but her family” he said.
“Have you contacted them?”
“Yeah, they must be at the hospital now” he said and stood up then in a twinkle of an eyes, he pounced on Viviana $trangling the he..ll out of her…. Jade and I rushed to him in other to stop him from committing murder….
“You wtch, I know you’re the cause of everything. I should have killed you when I had the chance” he said choking her.
“Alfred stop, stop….” Jade said and tried her best to stop him from killing her….
“Stop” I said and pushed him away from her body…
“You guys don’t understand… She’s the reason for all this..” He said and pulled her on the hair and led her to a room.
I didn’t bother to stop him, cos he might be saying the truth. I don’t even like her one bit.
He dragged her inside the room….
“Alfredo what are you doing?” and that was Jade.
“This witch is Amber, this is Amber…” He said an ripped her cloth….
“Noo” she said.
“Here,look” he said and pointed to the tattoo that was on her Truncus Dorsum with a red dark ink and it was exactly the same tattoo that Amber had….
Could it be that Amber is Viviana, and Viviana is Amber??
“She’s the witch behind everything, damn! I’m so stupid” he said and then gave Viviana or Amber a very solid slap that made her collapse…
He pushed her inside the room and locked it and then threw away the key in a random direction.
“You’ll stay there for now, I haven’t started with you yiet” he said and left I and Jade whom were both surprised and stunned about the whole thing.

Me, my brothers and parents all went to the hospital where Nicky was admitted.
I, Abner and Alfredo decided to enter the room together.
We knocked slightly and then Sarah was the one that opened the door she smiled at us which we returned though.
“Come in” she said and we all entered.
Nicky was with her mum and her head was on her mum’s laps, she was crying and her eyes were red now.
Her dad was there too so as her brothers. They were all gloomy and sympathizing with her on her loss.
Immediately she saw us she raised her head and stood up from her mum’s laps.
“What’s he doing here? What’s he doing here?” She said.
“Get him out of here, I don’t wanna see him” she said and kept pointing at Alfredo whom was crying already.
“Tell him to leave, you guys should do something!” She kept screaming.
Alfredo fell to his knees and begged her but she didn’t move, she kept saying that he should leave.
“You’re the reason for his death. Everything went wrong after you brought that concubine of yours home” she said.
“Nicky calm down, let him explain” her mum said.
“There’s nothing to explain mum, I hate him”
“Joy my brother didn’t kill his son” I said.
“Yes he did…. Of course you don’t care, he’s not your child. Plus you don’t know how it feels to carry a child and then lose him. You just don’t, till when you get pregnant, you’ll understand my pain” she said.
“Alfredo maybe you should just go” Sarah said.
“Quiet Sarah” her dad said.
“What? Nicky doesn’t want him here and his presence is bringing her more pain” she said.
“Nicky pls control your self” Abner said.
“Alfredo should leave, he should goooo” she kept insisting.
“Its all his fault that the child ain’t here with us…it’s your fault Alfredo.
I hate you. It’s obvious you never loved me, I told you about that Viviana girl but you didn’t believe me. Instead you sided a total stranger, who does that? Who? I’m very certain she was the one that poured that water making me to slip. I’ll never forgive the both of you.
Never!…… In fact I think I want a divorce,I can’t leave with someone that doesn’t care about me but himself” Nicky said and everybody in that room looked at her in shock.
“No, it hasn’t gotten to that. I can’t live without you. I love you so much, so very much” Alfredo said and walked to her still on his knees.
“Pls don’t do this” he said.
“Leave me alone, that’s what I want…. A divorce”
