PAST MISTAKES: Episode 11 – 20

Past Mistakes

Chapter Eighteen

“I’ll love you with all my heart, in every life, through every death. I
will not be bound by anything but my love for you.” – Lauren Kate, Passion

I was on fire.

My heart was throbbing and my pulses raced like I was running in a marathon, aiming for gold. I couldn’t wait. I wanted to quench this fever inside me, and Ares was the only one who could do that. I wanted him so badly that my body trembled. I wanted release…

I knew what was coming. Me – Him, on the bed. Naked. Making wild and passionate love. Our sweat and smell mingled. Lips to lips. Skin to skin. Tongue to tongue. I wanted him buried deep inside me.

Ares eyes were so dark with desire. His skin felt heated. His breathing was ragged. I knew he felt the same way I did.

I couldn’t wait to be with him. Alone.

Then I felt fear.

What if he’ll get rough?

I suddenly got scared. I had second thoughts.

I was imagining a fairy tale romance again. Me as Cinderella and Ares, as Prince Charming. I was getting delusional.

Ares is not a prince charming material. He shattered my dreams and fantasies of an ever after r0mance. I remembered our wedding night. How rough he was. Like the beast within him unleashed.

No. Ares is a change man. I know he will not hurt me again.

We went out of the coffee shop. Not talking. He held my hand, dragging me with him. I had to catch up his long strides. Rushing and breathless.

I felt like floating in the clouds, like hallucinating. I hardly even noticed people bumping on us. I just let Ares guide me… to heaven or hell. I didn’t care anymore.

Ares k!ssed me again when we were inside the car – with no reservations. Like a starving animal, he k!ssed me hungrily and deeply. I loved that his body trembled when I ran my hands from his chest to his neck and k!ssed him with equal fervor.

I couldn’t get enough of him. His taste… his smell. I was drugged. His lips traveled down on my neck, his tongue tracing and licking, his breathe so warm and moist. I was restless. All my nerves tingled. The awakened sensations was so overwhelming.

His fingers were unbuttoning the top of my dress… slowly he pushed my br@ down and cupped my bare bre@st, kneading… squeezing… stroking. I gasped with pleasure at the electrifying touch of his hand. The feeling was magical… like I was hypnotized.

“Rachel.” He stopped and about to straightened up when I clung on his neck. Not letting him go.

“Please Ares. Don’t stop…” I begged. We were in the parking lot, in a secluded area. I felt like it was the right place at that time.

Ares k!ssed me again and I responded to him aggressively. I opened my mouth to let his tongue explore inside my recesses. I imitated his action and thrush mine into his, tasting his sweetness. Oh… he tasted so good… and so addictive.

His mouth transferred to my bre@st licking… “Ares…” I moaned with pleasure. My hands clasping behind his head.

“Mmm.. ” He suckled my bre@st and his eyes looking at me… staring…

“What are you doing to me… ” I whispered.

“The same as what you’re doing to me.” He murmured then k!ssed me again.

His hand was on my thigh, lifting my dress up. Exploring my thighs aggressively. Then his hand went up to my waist, his fingers gently tracing my stomach… and slowly going down to the top edge of my panties.

Then his phone rang.

I thought it was just my imagination. But Ares froze and cursed.

“Dammit. This has to be important or else…” He took his phone from his pocket and frowned. Then he straightened away from me.

I fixed my dress, covering myself.

“Yes, Tiffany.” Ares said. There was a pause the his expression changed to anger. “For God’s sake! Say what you want to say, direct to the point!”

Ares face turned pale and his expression turned blank. “Are you sure?” His shoulders slumped and his arm went around the stirring wheel. Then he put down the phone on his lap and it slid down to the car’s mat.

“What’s going on?”

I asked him.

He looked at me and said. “Pappous is dead.”

Ares took care of the wake and the funeral. He appeared strong but I knew deep inside he was so miserable. He hid his feelings well. That night in our room, he cried and told me about his memories with his grandfather. I listened to his stories then hugged him until he slept.

I woke up the following morning alone on bed. A note was on the bedside table. On top was a small velvet red box.

Rachel,

You’re sleeping like a princess, I don’t want to disturb your sleep.

I’m going to fetch my dad at the airport. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

Anyway, I’ll be very happy if you wear that thing in the red box.

I opened the red velvet box and was surprised to see my wedding ring. I stared at it – undecided. Ares was wearing his wedding ring all the time, since I saw him again. He said he hadn’t remove it since we got married.

Should I wear it? It would mean that I’m accepting Ares as my husband again.

And Drew. I was still engaged with him.

This is so confusing.

I can’t marry Drew. Not anymore.

I realized that the feelings I have for Drew was not as intense as I have for Ares. With Drew, it felt like being in a comfort zone. Just like living a routine life – at home, watching TV and drinking coffee. I felt, it was lacking. With Ares, it was like a roller coaster ride. So intense that made my senses spin. It was like going up to Heaven and falling down to hell. Adventurous… exploring… and mind blowing.

I decided to call Drew, to call off our wedding. It would be unfair on his part if I wouldn’t tell him the truth.

“What’s wrong? I thought you love me.” Drew replied when I told him I couldn’t marry him.

“I do. But I feel like there’s lacking on it.” I wanted to tell him that I couldn’t feel any electricity when I was with him… not the same mind wrecking sensations I felt when I was with Ares.

“What is lacking? We can do something about it. Just tell me.”

“I can’t Drew. I’m calling the wedding off. I’m sorry.”

“No, Rachel. We need to talk.”

“There’s no use Drew, I won’t change my mind. You see, Ares…”

“Ares? So the devil has a name now.” Drew snapped at me. “You used to call him the devil, and now you’re on first name basis with him. Funny.”

“Drew… please don’t make it so hard for me… I’m sorry. I just can’t marry you.”

“What wrong Rachel? You’re falling again with him? Tell me!”

“Drew… I’m sorry. I have to go…”

“TELL ME! Don’t hang up on me b!tch! Tell me! Are you in love with him?”

B!tch? He’s calling me a !tch?

My temper flared up immediately. “Yes! Okay? Yes. I love him. That’s why I can’t marry you. Good bye and I won’t work with you anymore. How dare you calling me a b!tch, when you’re the biggest a$shole, giving me a fake diamond engagement ring. Don’t worry I’ll send it back to you as soon as I can.”

I turned off my phone and heaved a sigh heavily. Drew was upsetting me. I didn’t anticipate that kind of reaction from him. Well, I was glad I broke up with him.

Ares father, Owen Niarchos arrived. It was the first time I met him. He apologized that he was not able to attend my wedding with Ares. It was very sudden and he had an important business trip at that time that he couldn’t just cancel. He said he was happy to have me as his daughter in law and looking forward to know me better.

“Thank you for wearing back the ring.” Ares said, clasping my hand, then k!ssing my knuckles.

“I was surprised that it still fits on my finger.” Our eyes locked as our breathing came in unison.

He smiled and pulled me in his arms. “May I?”

“What?”

“K!ss you.” He murmured.

I ran my hands from his chest to his neck. The sweet intoxicating musk scent of his body overwhelmed me. “I thought you’d never ask.”

He pulled me tightly in the circle of his arms. I buried my face against his throat. Smelling his scent so deeply. Then he lifted my chin and his lips covered mine hungrily.

Ares barely slept. He went to bed when I was asleep, and woke up so early. I hardly noticed him beside me. He was so busy. Either he was with his father or relatives, or taking care of his business, the wake and the funeral. On some occasions I was with him. He introduced me to his friends and relatives.

The day before the funeral, Ares’ mother, former fashion model, Mrs. Caitlyn Borris arrived. She got married again, with his photographer boyfriend. Ares’ meeting with his mom was very touching. Her mother hugged him so tightly.

“I’m sorry Ares. I’m so sorry for blaming you.” She kept on saying sorry. “I know the truth already. He told me.”

Who told her? And she’s blaming Ares for what?

Ares nodded and kissed his mom’s forehead. “We’ll talk later. Anyway, I want you to meet my wife, Rachel.”

“OH! I’m so happy to meet you Rachel.” She hugged me warmly.

“Thank you. Happy to meet you too, Mrs. Borris.”

“Call me Caitlyn. We have a lot of catching up to do. Right?”

“Yeah, of course.” I smiled at her. She was very pretty and looked younger that her age.

Ares spent time with his mom. They were inseparable since she arrived. They were talking privately and catching up with each other’s lives. Whatever happened in the past, I was certain they settled it already.

But I couldn’t help to be so curious. The reason behind their conflict – causing their family to shatter. I wondered also… what were Ares sins of the past?
