Episode 43
THE NEXT DAY ?…….
Ariel woke up in a strange room, entirely different from her’s ,each and every corner of the room was white in colour , and the bed was strong and not too comfortable ,she confirmed it to be an hospital when she saw a drip connected to her hand.
*Why am I here ,she thought confused* and her memory was completely blank.
Ariel was still in deep thoughts when a nurse walked in with a female doctor,she could tell from their attire .
“Ma’am you are awake, that’s good , please inform her parents ,the doctor instructed the nurse who nodded before dashing out.
“I am Dr Bella ,I have been the one attending to you ,when you were brought here yesterday ,Bella said.
“Oh nice to meet you , Ariel responded politely .
Not quite long Kathrine , Kimberly and ken rushed in with the nurse , Kimberly was in tears while Kathrine wore a worried look on her face ,they must have been really worried.
“Karen ,oh my goodness , thank God you are okay , Kimberly cried hugging Ariel so tight .
“We were so worried when you fell unconscious at the party ,ken heaved a heavy sigh .
“I am sorry for making you guys worried ,I just didn’t feel okay and it’s weird, Ariel grieved sadly ,just a month and half with her family and she is already stressing them out how unfortunate .
“It’s fine Karen ,you don’t need to blame your self ,we should have also been conscious of your health ,come give your sis a hug ,you are really gonna need it for the big news , Kathrine said with a slightly teary voice, which Ariel didn’t fail to notice.
“What’s wrong kath ,you sound teary , Ariel asked concerned laced in her voice .
The whole family kept quiet each giving an eye on who was going to inform Ariel about why she fainted .
Ken looked at Kimberly with pleading eyes , and so did Kathrine ,after all she’s Ariel’s mother ,she might be able to explain the matter well to Ariel.
Kimberly took a deep breath and held unto Ariel’s hand passionately .”My dear child,I am so glad you are okay , it was so frightening when I saw you unconscious , Kimberly sniffed cleaning her tears as she put on a smile .”you know when I found out that you were my lost daughter my joy knew no bounds , and today I am still very happy to know that you are my daughter , Karen this might come as a shock to you but there’s something I want you to always remember , and that is we are your family and we always will be no matter what the circumstance is ….. Kimberly paused as more tears ran down her face ,her heart was so heavy she had no way to spill out what was in her mind,but then she’s the mother of this damsel here ,she shouldn’t back down like a coward because she wasn’t one and she never will be,she’s a mother to two beautiful girls ,well one is about to go into a trauma , but she wasn’t going to give up but stand by them no matter what .
“YOU ARE PREGNANT, Kimberly dropped the bombshell .
The shock on Ariel’s face made her heart weak ,a tears slipped down Ariel’s face as she still sat frozen on the hospital bed shock clearly written on her face.
Ken stepped forward his heart racing ,as Ariel still didn’t move from her position ,she was deeply in shock .”Karen dear , you are going to be fine ,we all her here for you and we will never let you down, please say something your silence is Killing.
“Sis please don’t let this get to you ,there is nothing to worry about ,you have me here , Mom and Dad ,there no cause for sadness cause I know everything will be fine , Kathrine said assuringly .
“I am pregnant ,a life is growing inside me ,I am pregnant mom ,dad ,sis ,I am pregnant at sixteen , pregnant at just sixteen , Ariel burst into tears ,she held her chest tightly as her heart ached so painfully.
“Baby please listen to me , there’s nothing to worry about ,I am here for you,we are here for you and we always will , please don’t take this to heart ,it’s not going to be a big deal in your life Ariel , because we your family will stand by you , there’s a new family member joining us soon , isn’t that great , Kimberly said faking happiness so that Ariel wouldn’t think too much .
“Your mom is right Ariel, and age is just a number ,do not worry ,it will surely turn out different than what you may be imagining ,ken said assuringly.
“I need to use the restroom , please , Ariel said she removed the drip plastered on her hand ,then walked out of the ward living everyone atonished .
“Mom ,dad ,I think she needs some space to think well, don’t worry she will be back and also please let’s not disturb her ,she sure is in need of a private time to think right now, Kathrine calmed her anxious parents ,who were still worried even after Kathrine’s words.

EARLIER…….
“Austin ,where have you been ,David asked worriedly immediately he sighted Jerald standing close to the car they arrived with,it was quite hard to tell someone was standing there due to the dark atmosphere.
“Sorry David , something happened at the restroom , and now I am covered with dirt ,I actually fell on the toilet floor , Jerald explained filtering out what really happened.
“Oh dear,so sorry I will talk to the manager about it slippery toilets, come on let’s go home , Anastasia already left ,we should leave too , David said and Jerald breathed a sigh of relief,he had been longing to leave that place.
They both got into the car and the drive roared the engine back to life before driving away.
“There was a comotion minutes ago, David informed.
“A comotion ? , Jerald furrowed his brows .
“Yeah it was my business partner’s daughter ,she fainted right before they left ,I guess she would be in the hospital now , that’s when I realized you weren’t with me the whole time , David explained.
“Oh my ,I hope she’s okay I wonder what made her faint , Jerald replied.
“Yeah me too ,it’s an unsolved puzzle ,but tomorrow we are sure going to find out ,we will be visiting the hospital tomorrow morning , David said.
“Okay that’s really nice of you ,guess you where more nicer than I thought, Jerald joked.
“Of course I am kind ,I learnt that from your father ,he was the nicest person you could ever meet ,he made me what I am today and I am going to make sure I never let him down , that’s why I am going to put a lot of effort in you ,so that you can stand in progress, don’t worry it’s not going to be boring,you have my son to assist you ,I think you both are of the same age , David said.
“Really ,wow thanks alot , and I have heard a lot about my father ,I wish he was alive to see me work hard to make him proud , Jerald sigh sadly.
“Don’t worry , he’s always with you and he will forever be ,just make him proud, David said assuringly .
“Thank you David , it’s an honour , Jerald said with utmost gratitude.

NEXT MORNING ?…..
Jerald woke up to the sound of his alarm ringing ,it was 6:30am ,he groaned tiredly , David had set that particular time for him , because it was the first step of being a good business man.
“Good morning , sir Austin I have prepared you bathing water ,Mr Beverly has advice you wear this today ,the maid said showing a pare of casual clothing .”the maids will soon be here to clean up your room ,do hurry up and be in time for breakfast,the maid informed a sleep filled Jerald and left .
“Geez !, Jerald exclaimed rubbing his sleepy eyes ,he took the duvet off his body and walked to the bathroom to have his bath .
Soon he returned in his robe,the maids assigned to clean his room where already present ,he grabbed his clothes and went into the dressing room to change ,by the time he was done the maids already left .
He went downstairs for his breakfast which had been maid for him ,the cooks had to follow the table Mr David had given to them .
“Bacon and eggs ,these are my favorite, how did they even know about it , Jerald muttered inaudible.
“Good morning sir,every worker chorused when they sighted Jerald,he was done eating and was currently in Mr Beverly’s house waiting for him ,so that the adventure of the day would start .
“Austin you are here already , that’s good I can see you are a good learner , David said atonished.
“Thank you sir ,I am always ready to learn , Jerald replied.
“Dad ,you called me ,a young man said walking downstairs to meet David ,he clearly didn’t pay attention to Jerald who sat on the cushion playing with his finger nails.
“Oh yeah Landon ,meet Austin he’s the young man I was telling you about ,he actually got here three days ago , David said to his son’s surprise .
“Jerald , Landon called in total shock , David seemed confused as to why his son called Jerald by his old name.
Jerald looked up surprised ,other than the woman he call’s mom ,there someone else referring to him as Jerald ,must be his nick name or something.
“Landon ,do you know him ,David asked.
“Yes dad he’s my best friend in college I told you about when we where in France, Landon explained.
“Your best friend,you never introduced him to me , David said .
“Hi I am Austin , and it’s glad to know someone else apart from my mother call’s me Jerald ,nice to meet you , Jerald said stretching forth his hand for a handshake.
Landon reluctantly collected it ,he was confused as to why Jerald wasn’t being all friendly with him or maybe it was because of his dad ,he really needed an explanation .
“Austin please hold on for a sec we will be back soon , David said motioning Landon to come with him , while Jerald only nodded .
“Dad what’s going on ,I don’t get any of this ,why is my friend here and why did you call him Austin, Landon asked.
“Son ,if truly he is you friend how come you don’t know his present predicament , David replied.
“I seriously don’t understand dad , Landon said.
“Fine I will explain briefly to you ,I am running late already , Austin as you know is Jerald ,got into a fatal accident that almost claimed his life ,but thanks to God he was saved , but he lost his memories,he doesn’t even remember his own mother ,my friend and I came up with a conclusion that now he doesn’t remember anything ,it was the perfect time for him to fulfill his late father’s wish not Damien but Ferdinand ,his real and supposed name his Austin ,every cooperation I work in today is owned by his father , he’s here to learn everything possible to become a great business man , and you are going to help him out , and please don’t try to make him remember anything ,he’s still healing from his brain tumor .
“I have to go now , tomorrow you come with us to the project center there alot to learn ,take care of your sister and tell your mom to head straight to work , Austin and I are heading somewhere ,see you later , David said before leaving.
Landon just stood rooted to the ground ,too shocked to even move , Jerald had been going through alot for the past one month ,how unfortunate and here he was still hating on him ,he needed to appologise.

“David where are we heading to after the hospital , Jerald asked.
“Oh we head straight to work ,so I could show you around the place .
“Thanks that’s nice , Jerald replied shortly .his mind wondered to a different place ,to the clumsy cutie he met at the party ,he didn’t know why he was thinking of her ,it just caught him unaware ,he couldn’t even get her number,who will even ask for a number in such an awkward situation ,he smiled a little before quickly stopped ,he didn’t want to get noticed by David ,he wasn’t really in the mood for explanation .
“We are here ,the driver announced to both men ,David who was on his phone looked up and sigh .”let’s go Jerald ,he said and Jerald nodded.
They both stepped out from the car , David glanced through the place and saw a small flower shop ,it would be a nice courtesy if he brought some flowers for the sick girl , after all girls love flowers just like his daughter.
“Austin give me a second I will be back , David said and Jerald nodded ,he then left to the close by flower shop .
Jerald on the other hand stood at the entrance of the hospital ,he was in deep thought he had no idea someone was approaching his direction untill the two collided, Jerald fell to the floor and so did the person ,who was running and wasn’t looking out .
Jerald groaned as his back ached ,he looked up to see who collided with him , and it turned out to be ,the clumsy cutie , Karen ,she was in tears .
Ariel didn’t even wait to appologise ,she stood up e continued running . Jerald who saw this was restless ,why was she in tears , and where is she heading to , without thinking twice ,he went after her .
He soon noticed she was running with no destination what so ever ,he chased her non stop as her tiny legs continue to run helter skelter .
“Hey hold on please stop running you will get hurt , Jerald yelled but Ariel didn’t stop ,she kept running not wanting to stop soon she got off the pedestrian lane running on the vehicles lane ,a huge truck approaching in full speed .
Jerald panicked on seeing this ,he increased his pace just to catch up with her , people on the road where starting to panick and raise alarm for the moving truck to stop , Ariel kept running she just wanted to end her h®rrible life that has brought nothing but pain .
Jerald soon caught up with her ,as the truck almost got close to her ,the situation was critical ,she was heading to the bridge where the truck was also coming from .
Determination took control over Jerald to make sure he saved her life .
He got in her way and wrapped his hands around her waist ,as both of them stumbled upon the railings falling into the big river .
