“I can’t eat this cake all by myself, let’s do this together, you’re the only family I have after all”.
Valerie said snapping me out of my thoughts. She dragged me and Mom by our arms as we sat down on the dinning again.
“This cake is beautiful”. Mom said.
“I know right”. Valerie smiled.
“Lemme check if it looks beautiful on your face”. Jeff said scooping from the icing as he made a mark on Valerie’s face with the icing.
“Ouchhh…I’ll do mine too”. She cooed .
She took the icing from the cake as Jeff stood up and ran around the living room , she chased him too.
Nanny Jade and Mom kept watching us.
“Guyyyyyssss….you can’t leave me out of this fun”. I carried the whole cake and chased them around.
“Arghh…come on stop”. Jeff said.
“Your glasses is stained already”. I said breathing hard
We ran around like little kids.
It made me forget my sorrows for that moment.

Watching my kids play like that meant a lot.
Thank God for Valerie.
Though she’s facing her own pains with her family too. We all have issues and I believe it would soon end.
The thought of my husband made me sigh so loud that Nanny Jade noticed.
“Tonia, are you bothered about something? She held my hands.
“No…hummm”
“I know it when you’re lying being old doesn’t mean I don’t know when you’re bothered about something. Tell me about it dear”. She insisted.
“It’s about Mark “. I said sadly.
“I told you to get a lawyer”.
“Mark doesn’t want a lawyer..I don’t know why he is like this,he is just so stubborn and adamant”.
“Mark can’t do things without a reason,I believe he has a reason for his actions. There is always a reason for every actions my dear”.
“Nanny, I know… but I’m his wife he should at least tell me every single thing. If he didn’t why did he admit to rapping that girl?”
“So you believe that your husband will do such an evil thing?
“No”.
“Then what?
“Nanny, I just miss my husband and I hope he would be released soon, we’re gonna visit him tomorrow too”.
“So you could make more babies”. Nanny Jade said as we laughed
“More babies?? Nanny?
“What? I was just joking! Besides, you’re not too old to produce another child or… children”
“Seriously? At this time? Are you making fun of me?
“No…I was just saying, I know you would have missed it, but wait for your husband. Patience pays my dear, patience pays”. She smiled
She is actually talking about the sx part. I won’t lie,I miss that .?
The different style we do, not minding the fact that we’re becoming old.
I don’t wanna think about that s I won’t feel somehow.
“Kids… that’s enough,it’s high time we left for our house”. I said standing up as the children stopped.
“JESUS…!!!
I said again as they approached I and Nanny Jade.
Jeff’s glasses was stained real bad . Valerie and Jenny’s hair too was stained and tousled.
“Gosh! Must you always play like little kids”.
“Forgive us aunty, I haven’t had this fun for a long time and I’m grateful for this little one. I’ll forever remember this birthday. You all made my day blossom”. Valerie said as she hugged me .
Awwwwn, isn’t she sweet after all.
She used the tip of her finger to take icing as she rubbed it on my face too.
“Now you look more prettier”. She giggled .

It was joy all the way
Thanks to Mom for the wonderful cake. I really thought it was a dream but I guess this cake is real.
And now ruined.
Happily ruined .
Aunt Tonia and Nanny Jade were seated in the dinning discussing.
We played till we wasted the cake. We did cake balls and threw it at ourselves.
Aunt Tonia was done discussing with Nanny Jade and our time is up.
She called us as we stopped playing. We giggled towards them . Aunt was alarmed as Nanny Jade won’t stop laughing too.
“Finally,our faces have eaten the cake and our throats are starved “.
Jennifer slumped on the chair as we all laughed.
She really wanted the cake badly and this is all Jeff’s fault
“At least you can drink water to wash away your dry throat”. Her mom added smiling.
“Exactly, A glass of water will do”. Jeff laughed
I took a glass of water and offered it to her .
“Here”.
“Thanks for nothing, it was all your fault we didn’t get to eat cake” . She cooed blinking hard.
“Fine, it’s my treat tomorrow or anytime after school since you’re going out tomorrow, I’ll take you for a cup of coffee and some deserts”
“For real? She sprang up almost dropping the glass cup.
“Easy with my cup”. Nanny Jade said collecting the glass cup from her.
“I’m serious”. I said.
“Am I included? Jeff raised his hand up.
“No! . I andJenny yelled
“It’s a girl hang out”. Jennifer said.
“Besides, you should go repair your glasses”. I added as we all laughed
“Being a nerd is fun stoopid…try and use glasses one day maybe you’ll look more cute”. Jeff said
We laughed again
“Savage time”. Jennifer said using a spoon to h!t the glass cup in her hand.
“At least,I’m more prettier than your so called girlfriend….that’s even if you have one…pffffff”. I did my tongue out as he rolled his eyes
“That’s enough kids, I hate savages”. Aunt Tonia smiled hugging us both .
“Valentine’s day will do” .
“Valentine’s day?? Oh my gosh! I almost forgot about that . I can’t wait. How does Valentine’s day work in your school.
“You mean our school? Well, girl you’re about to experience the most beautiful Valentine’s day in the world.
“Awwwwn, interesting. I can’t wait”. I giggled.
“Valentine’s day, birthday, cake day. Whatever…it’s high time we left, we are going somewhere tomorrow remember? Aunt Tonia said .
“Bye Nanny Jade, Bye Bestie”. Jennifer said as she gave me a tight hug.
“Bye nerdy girl”. Jeff said rolling his eyes at me.
“Hey…I’m not nerdy, you are nerdy”. I shot back fiercely.
I might be brilliant but hell no !
I don’t wanna be nerdy . ??
“We’ll see about that”. He said and went out
“Darling, don’t mind Jeff, he’s just bluffing and being harsh”
“Harshly lovely”. Jennifer said painting her nails with the pink nail polish.
“Is that not my nail polish? Nanny Jade said peeping behind me.
“Is it? Jennifer hid the nail polish behind he as she ran out waving at me.
I smiled.
“Nanny, let it go,I’ll get you another one from Marykay’s store”.
I massaged her shoulder.
“Bye Aunt Tonia”.
“Take care of yourself darling, Nanny Jade,bye…I’ll call you when we get there”.
“Okay dear,bye”. Nanny said.
For that moment I forgot about my parents. They didn’t even call to wish me a happy birthday.
“Did Mom come ?
“What?
“I saw her in my dream, she presented me with a cake,it looked so real. We were on good terms too, I even made a wish for her to be happy”.
“It’s not a dream, it’s all real…who do you think brought the cake? You thought I made it? Well no! She bought it since she won’t be able to make it here”.
“Wow! Tell I I said thank you since I would be asleep when she comes back. What about Dad?
“My dear? It’s a long story”. Nanny paused.
“I wanna hear about it”. I insisted knowing fully well that I won’t be told the truth.
“He didn’t come home for 3 days now . He and and your Mom seems to be having little issues,you know how they are they’ll get over it soon…let’s hurry and clean this place up before they come back”.
She said.
I knew she wasn’t honest totally so j won’t worry .
It’s fine anyways!
