“Drake,man where have you been? We need you for the sound man”. Dennis said as he dragged me along to the stage.
I had to do it anyway.
I watched her smiling at Harris .
If she’d be happy with him and not me why will fight for my love? Seeing her happy makes me happy also .
I watched her closely through the thick lens of her glasses. I know Harris so well,he’s trying to use Valerie’s feelings for him to hurt her .
If I try telling her will she believe me? I can’t even tell her how I feel about her .
What do I do?

I’ve been helping Drake for a while, unknowingly to Valerie. She made us close .
I told him all he wants to know about her. He’s just so in love with her while Valerie on the other hand is obsessed with Harris who is playing her.
That bstard of a thing!
Valerie would never listen to me. She probably thinks I like Harris when I have my own boyfriend.
“Thankfully we’re done with our exams…I detest reading,I miss my fans on social media and I bet they would have missed me too”. I said packing my books in my bag as I took out my phone.
“Really? Valerie scoffed smiling
“Yeah, I know you and Jeff are great erudite unlike me…I know nothing! I hate books”
“Books are the best Jenny, let’s go out and chill with coffee and cake ”
“Yhayyy …..cake and coffee . Okay…is Jeffery coming along with us?
“I don’t know, probably he wants to hang out with Grace or something…! I said
“Jeff,meet me at home…I’m going to a coffee shop with Valerie”
“Go ahead,I’ll call you guys if I’m coming. I need to do somethings here”. He said
“Okay,bye”. I and Valerie said .

??? DEE’S CAKE AND COFFEE SHOP ???
“Hello, welcome to DEE’S CAKE AND COFFEE SHOP, please come in”. A lady who is about our age or probably older than us said .
She is slim and tall . Her heels made light sounds as she marched . She has this slim and oval face too . Her tight fitted skirt brought out her God given shape . Her silk brown her fell to her right shoulders .
She is indeed very beautiful
She has this big bright smile on her face and she bows at every single thing and to all the customers.
She’s so humble!
“Hello, I’m Valerie,nice to meet you”. I said .
“Valerie? Jennifer said drawing the last letter of my name . She smirked. I know what she meant by that.
She was surprised that I spoke to someone for the first time in my life and I was not shy .
I guess my spirit got connected with that girl’s own .
“What ? I said smiling
“It’s fine…. I’m Eva Adams nice to meet you, please come in..” . She said.
That was when I noticed the golden plate on her left breast pinned to her uniform. It had her name on it .
She looked like a boss .
She walked us inside ordering us to a table as we sat down.
“Namaste,Eva”. I said in Indian way of saying thank you . I smiled back at her .
“Can we take your order?” She said
“Sure, humm…give us your menu, so we’ll choose,you can come to us few minutes later or we beckon on you”. I explained.
“Okay, thanks and welcome once again . I hope you enjoy your stay here miss Valerie”. She smiled at me and looked at Jennifer who was busy with her phone.
“Don’t mind her, she’s Jennifer”. I said.
“Okay”. She left is with the menu.
“Wow,this place is huge”. I said marveling at the sight of the shop.
It had glass doors and windows. You can easily see who is outside and who wants to come in or go out too.
The counter is well decorated with beautiful attendants. Their uniforms are like that of an hotel attendant too .
The ladies wore white shirt and navy blue skirts . They had red bows at the collar of their white shirts too . Their names were written on a golden plate at their left side pocket.
The guys wore navy blue pants too and white shirt. Their tie is also red.
“I wish I work here”. I smiled at myself glancing around again.
“Work here? Jennifer said .
I guessed that spilled into her ears because she was busy with her phone. She snapped few things at the coffee shop and posted it online.
“Yeah, what do you think? I said in excitement.
“Anything you think, we can actually do it as part time jobs to help out parents..yunno? She said.
Parents? When last do they care about me? When last did I see my father? And my mother? She’s a night crawler.
I’m helping myself and not them.
I said within me.
“Yeah,that’s true…so choose what you want for the menu”. I said to her as she dropped her phone.
“Waiter please? Jennifer said
“Hello,what can we offer you ma’am”. She said politely.
“Cappuccino and Chestnut cake”. Jennifer said
“Espresso and Blackout cake”. I ordered too.
“Okay, we’ll get back to you shortly”.

We were served what we ordered as we gorged them down our throats slowly.
“So, we can always come here to chill out since this place is so cool, right?
“No….we can work here”.
“Work? What’s all this fuss about working babe? Okay,fine.. we’ll check it out when we come back from school…”
“Promise?
“Hugh! Seriously? Promise”. She said sulkily.
Soon we heard some distance mumbling.
“Oh my gosh…it’s the FOUR”. A lady screamed as she stood up from her seat.
She was seated in front of a guy who I assumed to be her boyfriend because they were smiling at each other for a while .
As soon as she sighted the FOUR,she stood up from his front and ran towards them.
“They’re here”. Jenny beamed with smile .
“Harris is as cute as ever”. I said dreamily.
They signed some autographs as they entered. They probably didn’t notice us so we just kept silent and didn’t say anything.

THE NEXT DAY….
After school hours,we went to the cake and coffee shop .
“‘ I see you’re obsessed with this place already”. Jennifer said.
“Hello ma’am”. I said to Eva. She was standing by the door as always.
“Oh..Hi… Valerie? And?? She said I think she was trying to guess my name.
“Yep, Valerie and Jenny.. Jennifer”. I smiled.
“Humm,we wanna make enquires about something”. I started. Jennifer was not watching,she was looking for network on her phone.
“Jenny? I gritted my teeth speaking to her with my eyes as she maintained a stance .
“So, what were you saying Valerie”. Eva said .
“We wanna work here”. I landed.
“Really? She said
“Yes, we’ve been fantasizing about this place eversince we stepped into this place….it’s awesome, besides we wanna relieve our parents of the burden on their shoulders that’s why we wanna work, we’re still in college as you can see”. Jennifer added.
I was not expecting her to give that beautiful speech. I smiled at her as she smiled back .
“Humm, you can work but we have different rules and regulations here which you must adhere to…one, is very important…no love affair amongst the workers”. She smiled winking at us.
“Love? Cut it out… we’re here to work and not love, please tell me the job is ours”. Jennifer pleaded .
“Of course dearies,you can start tomorrow… bring your CV with you when you’re coming”.
“Okay, thanks a lot”. I said as we left.

“Nanny,I got a job”. I said excitedly as I entered our house.
“Job? She hugged me .
“Yes, you won’t believe it . I treated Jennifer to cake and coffee some days ago and the place looks very nice and we decided to check it out again by working there”.
“Work? Do you mean you want to help your parents? “.
“Help you say? No! It’s not as if the care about me and you want me to help them” .
“Valerie, they’re still your parents take it or leave it”.
“If you say so, I actually realized I don’t have a mother nor Father eversince I was a baby . I’m am orphan”.
“VALERIE??
“Nanny Jade…let’s not talk about it please….I’m tired , I need to go to my room”. I said heading upstairs
“The job is nice”. She shouted
“Awwwn, thanks Nanny”. I smiled at her faintly and walked to my room .
