The next day was Friday, we closed from school early as we rushed down to the coffee shop where we now work.
We were given our uniforms and strict instructions too.
We were told to wear uniforms from Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Saturday we wear mufti .
“You look so stupid in the uniform”. I laughed so hard as we wore the uniform to check our sizes .
“Shut up bird brain,I’m actually more prettier and sxier than you…you know that right? She said winking at me.
“Whatever,I have a fine face except for the fact that you have those assets than I do”. I sI.apped her bvtt
We laughed so hard.
“Girls, when will you come to the counter….you need to watch the workers closely to know how they make the coffee and cake”. Eva said .
“Are we gonna be in the same section? Jennifer asked.
“No,it’s gonna be a shift. You might be in the cake section today and Valerie in the coffee section…it depends on your shift , as for today you’re both in the coffee section. Treat our customers well and smile always”. Eva explained.
We stayed at the counter and watched the workers do their thing.
“Hello,my name is Ian “. A guy who is about our age said .
“Hello Ian, I’m Jennifer and this is Valerie”. Jennifer said.
“Hi Valerie”. He smiled and I waved at him too.
No sooner had Ian started talking to us about how we should coordinate ourselves than the FOUR entered.
“Oh my gosh..it’s the FOUR”. Jennifer squealed.
“We see them every time it’s not something new…”. I scoffed.
“So you attend our boss school? Ian said .
“Boss? I and Jennifer chorused..
“Yeah…the one on black suit is our boss…”. Ian said .
I and Jennifer directed our gaze at them. They were actually heading towards us.
“No way! Drake owns this huge place? Oh my gosh! He’s so rich”. Jenny squealed holding my arms.
“Hushhh…can you be silent for once,they’re nearby” . I said then Drake appeared in front of us
“Hello ladies…Hi Ian”. He said
“Hello… Drake,I mean…Boss”. Jennifer stuttered.
“No,no…it’s fine,it’s actually okay. You can call me Drake”. He smiled again .
“Boss,these are the ladies I told you about”. Eva walked towards us .
“Ohh, yeah…I know them,we attend the same school.. thanks Eva”. He said and walked away to where his friends were .
I kept staring at Harris until he winked at me.

I know right. I giggled.

I watched them closely as they entered the coffee shop.
For the very first time I set my eyes on her my heart fluttered. I’ve never felt like that for any girl before in my life.
Probably because girls are not my main motive. I love reading, reading and reading.
I work part-time to help my family at home.
No body knows my background at all. They feel I just love around or probably I’m an orphan .
“Ian, you’ll be taking care of Valerie and Jennifer from now on,make sure they’re treated well and of course they know the rules and regulations concerning our shop”.
Eva said smiling.
“Sure,no problem”. I said and introduced myself to the girls.
My gaze was fixed on the girl with glasses. I love nerdy girls . She’s my type ?
Our eyes met and I felt so uneasy. I was still discussing with them when our boss arrived with his friends.
He exchanged pleasantries with the girls when Eva introduced them to him since he’s the boss.
Funnily enough,they attend the same school.
I felt bad! I would be in the same class as they are too but I can’t afford it .
My father just died recently of a sickness and Mom had a stroke. She’s always in all day.
I don’t relate with people and I don’t have friends. I don’t want to be seen as weak and I don’t want people to pity me.
My younger sister who is just 10 had to stay at home to cater for her. She couldn’t even go to school.
Things are so hard for me and thankfully I’m well paid here.
“Oh my gosh,Harris just winked at you”. The one in pink said .
“Yeah,I know right”. Valerie said
I was heartbroken. She likes another person while I’m here crushing on her.
I decided to let her go, I’ll try ?
They stared at Harris as they giggled. I can see all over her face that she likes him .
“Girls, some customers are over there and they need coffee latte would you mind serving them or asking if they’d wanna order something else”. I said trying to get their attention especially that of Valerie.
“Ohh…sure,that’s right”. She said smiling . I couldn’t help it but smile too.
I need to think of something to make us close to each other.
They left my presence as I stared at them .
“Rules are rules my boy…rules are rules”. Eva said hitting the desk making me to startle.
“Eva? Seriously? I know it’s not what you think at all”. I blushed
“Not what you think? But your cheeks just flushed tomato red and it’s not what I’m thinking? She smiled.
“Hugh! Stop bluffing”. I said looking away.
“Bluffing? Remember I’m your boss,I’ve known you for a while now and I know what you can do and what you can’t Ian”. She said
I just sighed.
“Love is a good thing,which of them did you like; the pink or the nerdy one? She said.
“The nerdy one”. I said boldly
“Relationship is prohibited here Ian…”. She said and left me smiling.
She’s breaking rules herself.
She likes Drake and yet she doesn’t want us to love at all.
Who does that? I flinched.
