Mariel’s POV
I stood outside the store crying my eyes out, i didn’t want to go home ‘cos i wasn’t ready to face my Aunt, although i know she’ll understand me i can’t just watch myself asking her for money to buy little things i could buy on my own.
“Oh Mariel, i heard about what happened. I’m so sorry about it dear” i heard my fellow sales girl Babianca called.
She came closer to me as we both hugged and i cried more on her shoulder as she patted my back comforting me.
She held my face and cleaned my tears with her Palm.
“Please don’t cry too much Mar… you might get a fever if you do so” she said.
I could see glints of tears in her eyes too.
“What am i to do now Bianca, am so addicted to… to this job, where will i start from?” I asked trying to fight back some tears that were still trying to pour out.
“You know somethings just to happen to give way to better things” she Saïd and i nodded.
It was already getting late, i had to go home. Maybe i could see another job.
“I have to go now Bianca, it’s getting late” I said.
“I will really miss you Mariel, please take care of yourself” she said and we hugged again, after we disengaged i picked my small handbag from the chair.
“I will miss you too Babianca, please take care of yourself too” i said as we kissed eachother cheeks.
“Here Mariel, i know it’s small but please manage it. I haven’t collected my monthly salary i would have given you more” she said handing me a small bunch of money.
I shook my head negatively as i pût back the money in her Palm.
“No Bianca, you really need this money more than i do, you need it to take care of Delia. I just need it to buy some of my personal things but you really need it Bianca. I will really miss you, give Delia so many kisses for me” i said.
Bianca was a single mother, the father of Delia ran away after discovering about her pregnancy.
“Oh Mariel please….
“No Bianca, i will visit you soon. Just don’t ever forget me” i said.
She nodded.
“Okay Bianca, take this necklace, please don’t reject it. I want you to always remember me as your Bestie, i want you to wear this necklace and always know that i’m always here for you in times of trouble and don’t forget to visit us” she said.
I collected the necklace from her and wore it on my neck. It was a diamond necklace.
“I love you Bianca and we’ll both be best friends. Forever….
“And ever and ever” she completed and we both chuckled.
We hugged and i bade her goodbye and walked away slowly.
After walking for a while i saw a bar after me and i walked slowly to it and sat on the verandah.
All these are happening ‘cos of Adrian, cos of my stupid love.
I hate him so much right now.
Adrian’s POV
I parked my car at Mariel’s working place, i decided not to go racing with my friends today ‘cos my sport car got spoilt.
I was in school today but i wasn’t able to see Mariel’ cos i didn’t enter the class. We were planning to have a mini party at Westbrook high.
I was in the teacher’s staff room. We were planning for the party.
I parked my BMW at the front of her store, i saw a girl walking in and i walked up to her before she could get into the store.
“Please excuse miss” i said to the lady and she turned to look at me. I could see glints of tears in her eyes.
“I’m looking for miss Mariel, she works here as a sales girl” i said.
“She just left now, she was sacked from work today” she said and my eyes widened.
Mariel, sacked, but why?
“Did anything happen, why was she sacked” i asked.
“I think you should ask her that sir, she just left a minute ago” the lady said and went into the store.
I immediately entered my car and started driving, I’m gonna find her.
I drove for 10 minutes but i didn’t see her, i came down from my car and started walking, using my eyes to scan for her.
I stopped at the front of a bar and kept on scanning for her, i saw a lady sitting on the verandah of the bar and was crying and muttering somethings to herself.
“I hate you Adrian, i really hate you so much. I was sacked from work ‘cos of the stupid crush i had for you. Fuck rich kids, i hate you all” Mariel suddenly screamed.
I was sure it was Mariel, that was her voice.
I know she has every right to hate me cos of what i’ve done to her. But i was going to make it up to her right now.
I could see people looking at her and shaking their heads.
I walked up to her and tapped her and she flinched.
Her eyes widened when she saw me, we stared at eachother for a while then she brushed my hands away and stood up to leave but i held her back.
“Mariel I’m sorry, i heard the news about you losing your job and I’m so sorry about it, i know i acted really harsh to you but i just hope you can forgive me i was not in my right state of mind at that time” i begged but she looked really angry at me and walked toward me, then she slapped me really on my cheeks.
I could sense so much anger and hatred in the slap. I must have really hurt her.
“Mariel please….
She slapped me again.
“Marie…
She gave me the third slap.
“You a$shole, all this happened ‘cos of you, cos of your stupid pride and self, i hat… i hate .. yo” she started crying and hitting me gently on my chest as i stood up held her hands and hugged her.
The loud music from the bar prevented people from looking at us and I was glad about that.
