Episode Forty – Three
Brian?
I paced up and down the hospital hallway waiting for anyone… Just anyone to come out of the operation theatre. I feel like I’ll run mad with anxiety of not knowing what’s wrong with my wife.
I drove my fingers through my already scattered hair and looked at Brad. He looks exhausted. I feel so guilty. We’ve been here for hours now but still no news. The nurses are just going in and out. No one is ready to tell us anything.
Zara walked over to me and held my hands,“I pray cousin in-law and the baby are alright. I’m so sad this had to happen on your birthday.” I moved away from her and tried desperately to hold my tears in.
I don’t care about the birthday. Kitty has to be fine. She has to stay strong for me. I can’t bear staying in this world all alone without her. I swear if anything happens to her, I’m gonna kill myself. Wherever she goes, I’ll follow her.
I was just to bang on the door when the red light changed to green and they wheeled my kitty out of the room. She looks so exhausted and completely pale. Her eyes are still not open. When I touched her body, it’s a little bit cold but she’s still breathing.
The nurses wheeled her to a room. I was about to follow them when the doctor pulled me back. He looked at Zara and Brad before saying,“Mr Faye I have to talk to you privately.”
I nodded and followed him after telling my siblings to wait for me. As soon we got into the office, the doctor sighed sadly. I frowned worried.
“Is my wife alright?,” I asked and he nodded yes. I breathe in deeply feeling relieved. “What about our baby? Is she alright also?”
“That’s what I want to tell you about. Sir, we tried but couldn’t save your baby…” as he said this, my whole world spinned. My kitty… My poor little kitty.
“We also carried out some tests and found out that your wife has been taking something that has large amount of sleeping pills lately. And sleeping pills aren’t recommended for pregnant women cause it causes deficiencies in the children,” he paused noticing I’m not saying anything.
Then he continued,“Because her foetus isn’t very strong yet and she took the sleeping pills consecutively, It caused the loss of your baby. I’m sorry for your loss. And I really hope it won’t affect your wife mental state cause of her kleptomania,” he said.
I slowly walked out of the office. The baby… The poor little kitty we have all been waiting for is gone… Gone just like that. Sleeping pills? I’ve never seen kitty taking any sleeping pills.
I feel so bitter inside. She’s only been taking that bird nest snack. Someone deliberately tried to kill our baby and succeeded. I couldn’t even do anything to save our baby.
I covered my face trying not to cry. “I’ve failed you kitty… I’ve failed you. I couldn’t save our little kitty. Now there will be no little kitty or little hubby.”
I walked to her ward but they wouldn’t let me see her. I told Zara and Brad what had happened. They are all so worried of how Ivy will take the news.
Mom and dad even came to the hospital. Mom is pretty sad that she didn’t even get to greet her first grandchild. Dad suggested that as soon as this disaster passes over, we investigate the sleeping pills issue.
The nurses and doctors had to force us all to leave the hospital. They wouldn’t let us see her claiming she needs to recover and doesn’t need any disturbance.
For the first time since our marriage, I walked into my house feeling hopeless and helpless like I’ve never felt before.

Brian ran into the hospital not even bothering with the umbrella his bodyguards held out for him. He ran towards the VVIP ward not worried at how wet he is.
The doctor had just called him about Ivy causing a ruckus in the hospital. ‘She’s out of our control,’ he said. Brian could hear shouts and sounds of things being smashed as he reached the room.
He opened the door and was stunned to see the state his wife is in. Tears immediately filled his eyes and clogged his throat.
“No madam don’t carry that… Please madam… It’s glass… It can hurt… You’ve not recovered from your surgery yet,” the nurses tried to plead but Ivy didn’t~ even act as if she heard them.
She lifted the heavy glass vase with her shaky hands and smashed it on the floor. Pieces scattering everywhere. Some even piercing into her hands. The nurses screamed moving back. The room is now in an unrecognizable state.
Ivy walked around shakily. She can’t walk properly due to the surgery she had. She suddenly stopped and cried out holding her stomach. “My poor baby… I can’t feel my baby in me. I can’t feel him.” She stood again and picked another stuff to smash on the floor again.
Her hands now bIoody. The nurses screamed again. Brian finally let his tears out. Since he was a child, he couldn’t remember the last time he cried. His kitty is in this state all because of them. ‘Why did they do this us?,” he asked over and over again trying to find a desperate answer.
Ivy turned around and saw him. She walked slowly to him and smiled out tears. “My baby… My baby… My little hubby,” she didn’t say anything other than my baby. The nurses took the chance and injected her with a sedative.
She fell into his arms, her eyes slowly closing. “I need my baby…My baby…” she murmured even with her eyes tightly closed already. Brian took her to the bed and put her to bed slowly. He pecked her forehead and let the nurses dress her wounds.
The doctor came in and talked to him. “Sir if your wife keeps going at this rate. We’ll have to transfer her to a asylum. Her mental state wasn’t strong and this happened.”
He glared at the doctor angrily,“You mean you think my wife is going insane. Doctor I don’t want to end up in prison that’s why I won’t $trangle you right now. Never say this shitty stuff again. She’ll be fine. She’ll be fine for me.”
He gulped in fear and nodded before leaving. Brian glanced at the bed and stared at Ivy. He then walked out of the ward feeling suffocated.
He hadn’t even gone far when he bumped into Louis. I hope y’all remember Louis. The guy from Australia who is Brian’s long-term enemy.
He glanced at Brian’s disheveled appearance and teary eyes. “Aww I heard Mama’s boy got a secret wife and they just lost their first baby,” he taunts excepting Brian to at least fight back like before.
But Brian only shook his head tiredly,“ Let’s see if you’ll act this way when this happens to you.” Louis laughed,“ I don’t plan on ever getting married. Marriage is for pvssies like you.”
He then walked away. If only, he knows that Brian’s words would eventually come to pass, he wouldn’t have behaved so haughtily. Well that’s also a story for another day.
Brian sat down on the waiting seats. He made urgent calls to his office.

I laughed as I looked at the reports Tj sent to me now. He’s such a darling. I owe him many nights of fun. I re-read the pages again. So that bch is a Klepto.
No wonder there’s a saying that ‘No one is perfect.’ She was also pregnant. But apparently she lost the bastard last night. That’s why we couldn’t find her. All this happened in my favour.
Mhmm! I searched about her illness and smiled upon seeing the results. So kleptomania is a mental disorder.
Let me get dressed and go to the hospital to taunt her. Maybe I can finally make her fully insane since she already has partial mental disorder.

As I walked into her room, I glanced at the bch on the bed while panting heavily. I had to bribe some nurses and hide from some people before they let me in.
Gosh! There’s not a single nurse in her room. They are such fools. Why would they leave her all alone in her room?
Well I don’t care. I seem to have good luck these days. I went to the bed and shook her awake. I shook her roughly. She sluggishly opened her eyes and sat on the bed staring at me fearfully. Is she already insane cause she’s behaving completely different from when we met at the office?
I brought out my phone and showed her a cute baby picture. I whispered gently,“See your baby.”

Ivy?
I stared at the strange woman fearfully. She looks awfully familiar. She brought out her phone and showed me a picture of a cute baby. “See your baby,” she whispered and I smiled.
My baby is so cute. As I was about to touch the screen she swiped the picture to another one. This one is the picture of that same baby but the baby is covered with red thing all over. Is that blood?
“Your baby,” she smirked evilly pointing at the screen. I looked at the picture and remembered what had happened earlier.
I woke up in a strange room with lots of nurses… My cloth was filled with bIood before I lost consciousness… I couldn’t feel my baby when I woke up.
I hurriedly touched my stomach and screamed loudly. “My baby… My baby… I need my baby…,” I mumble over and over again shivering on the bed. I can’t take this emptiness that I feel in me. My poor baby…
