Penelope stood dead on her track.
She was surprised, and what more?
She felt betrayed by her man.
She took a step back and grabbed hold of the stairs.
“How can he do this to me?” She whispered to herself.
Bryce wrapped his hand around her waist to hold her in place.
“I know that you were hurt, but think about Chris. He needs his grandparents, please do this for me my love.” He coaxed her.
She didn’t know what else to do so she followed him down the stairs and sat down on a couch.
Everywhere was quiet nobody said a word because no one has something to say well not until Marcus decided to break the silence·
“To be honest I don’t know you people personally but I always hear of you or sometimes I see you guys on TV, but what I heard that you guys did to your own child is really out of proportion.
How can you be so callous to even dare hurt your daughter, she’s your child right or am I mistaken?” He asked them.
Everyone was waiting for an answer, it was as if though Penelope isn’t their child.
Even Penelope was waiting for her parents response.
“ if in any way I have put it out that you are not my child then I’m very sorry, I love you Penny and I supported you the way I could when it all started.
But then you can’t underestimate the power of a woman, your mother made me turn my back on you, I’m not saying this as an excuse because I know that if I did otherwise she won’t say a word to me she won’t do anything but still I did what she told me to do.
I’m sorry, you are my child, you are Penelope James a very legitimate one.”Mr James responded and clapped his hands together in a begging manner.
“Forgive us Penny.”
Tears started falling from Mrs James eyes,everyone started watching her.
No one knows the reason behind the tears, no one knows the reason why she was shedding tears.
she went down on her knees and briefly closed her eyes then reopened it again.
“You have suffered a lot because of me,I made you go through what you’re not supposed to go through as the second daughter of the James family.
I turned my back on you when I should have been there for you, I took side with one of my daughters and left one behind because of my sudden dislike where you were.
I channeled all my support and time to Sasha, I never questioned her,I never told her that what she was doing is not good because yes at that moment in time I really wanted you to suffer.
I don’t know why, you never did anything to me Penny I didn’t have any reason to hate you, you’re not the first person to get pregnant out of wedlock but still I didn’t think like that at the moment all I wanted to do is get you out of our life.
I know that my excuses are useless, the deed has been done and nothing I do now you can retrieve the moment lost.
So, please I’m begging you I’m not asking to be part of your life I’m not asking for you to forgive me,I’m also not asking to the Joy of someone calling me Grandma, but please at least can you let me be present on your wedding day?
As your mother for once I want to play role of a mother in your life,can I do that?” She asked Penny.
Penny loved and mother and seeing her cry like that break her heart yes she hates the fact that her mother made up Ashley all that but still he can’t deny the natural love here for the woman she couldn’t believe that at the moment she was also shedding tears·
“ I love you Mum, i did everything you asked of me but then you always prefer Sasha.
I’m not saying that you should love me alone but still make it equal!
I won’t deny you the presence of your grandson, I won’t deny you for coming to my wedding either,I won’t deny you any of your rights because they are your rights as my mother.
it’s your right for bringing me into this world and making me meet this God gifted man and I’m grateful for that, I won’t deny you for being present in one of the happiest day of my life.
so don’t think that I will deny you of any of that, no matter what we have passed through you are still my mother and I love you.” she said and stood up from the couch.
Though she said all that, but it was still clear about what she was trying to say is that she won’t deny her mother of her motherly rights but then they have their boundaries, things won’t be as they were before.
