LAKSHMI
FIVE YEARS LATER
“All passengers should be aware, tighten your seat belt, we’re arriving in twenty five minutes!”
I waited at the lobby with my luggage dressed in a white jumpsuit, white long jacket, a black heels and a black bag.
“When is this girl gonna come?”
I said to myself anticipating the arrival of Scarlet to pick me up
I’ve been in touch with her alone for over five years since I left America
I only sent money through her to my family.
I picked up my phone to call her and she picked up immediately
“Hey, where are you? I’m having leg cramps. I’m tired of standing”
I shouted to her over the phone
“You’re actually sitting Lakshmi!”
She said laughing
“Where are you?”
I asked in surprise
“Right behind you”
I stood up as I turned immediately
Lo!
I saw her walking towards my direction.
I smiled as I waved to her
She got to me as she embraced me in a tight passionate hug.
“Scarlet!!”
I said to her hugging her back
“I really missed you Lakshmi”
She said as I rested my chin on her shoulder
“I’m always calling you, what’s there to miss?”
I said as she disengaged from the hug
“I was only hearing your voice, you never allowed for video calls”
She said playfully hitting me gently
“I’m sorry Best”
I said to her as I followed her walking
“I shouldn’t have agreed to come pick you up”
She said throwing her face in a frown
“You can go back”
I sipped from the cup of coffee as she dragged my luggage behind her
“Why can’t you call on someone else to pick you up?”
She said facing me
“Roshni would be busy wrapping up with her business, Arnold will be busy with his hospital”
I spouted my mouth to her
“Then am I less busy?”
She said as she opened the door for me to enter
“You said you didn’t have any client to attend to, meanwhile nice car you’ve got here!”
She got behind the wheel driving all the way to my house
“A birthday present, from Aiden!”
I widened my eyes in bewilderment
“You gat to be kidding!”
“Nope!”
She said cautiously taking up on the wheel
“Hey, where are your kids? You’re supposed to be married by now”
I asked her playfully
“I can’t have my wedding without you nor Anderson being around”
The mention of Anderson made my heart skipped a beat.
It made my brain run crazy
“Did you miss him?”
She said asking me
“No!”
I replied bluntly as she laughed
“Lies!!”
She said smiling
“How has he been?”
I asked anxiously
“This and that! He has been fine. Faithful to you always!!”
She said as my thoughts drifted to Anderson.
I’ve not been in touch with him
I really missed him so much
I promised him to be back soon but it took a while.
I’m so sorry!
Heroine’s point of view continue.
I dropped down as Scarlet drove away promising to be back later
I stared at the new changes in our house.
A newly built building stood erect.
Painted and well built!
I opened the gate as looked around in surprise.
Six cars parked inside the compound.
I opened the door as a maid came to welcome me.
“Whom do you seek for?”
She said smiling
“Dad!”
She stared at me in surprise as I dragged my luggage in.
I saw my dad walking down the stairs with a walking help as he stared at me in shock
I rushed at him as I ran towards him
“Don’t run or you’ll trip over”
He said smiling
I embraced him so tight as tears streamed down my face in happiness
“Dad!, I missed you so much!”
I said in tears
“I woke up and couldn’t find you by my side, how’ve you been?”
He said disengaging from the hug
“I’m fine dad, I’m so sorry for leaving!”
I said trying to fight back tears
“It’s okay!”
He said still smiling
“Lakshmi??”
I looked back at I saw Arnold.
He smiled at me.
He’s already so tall
He walked towards us as he hugged me
“I really missed you Lakshmi”
He said holding me tight
“Me too!”
I said disengaging from the hug looking deep into his face
“Roshni will be back tomorrow”
He said
“Won’t you ask questions?”
I said to them
“Your boyfriend explained all to us, I mean Anderson”
Dad said in smiles
“Dad?”
I called him in bewilderment
“Go for him Lakshmi. You’ve gone through a lot! You have our back”
Dad said as he nodded his head continuously
Tears streamed down my face as I couldn’t held them in
“He bought those cars, your birthday was celebrated even though you were absent!”
Arnold said
“Huh?”
“He really loves you Lakshmi”
He said holding my hands
I was really surprised to hear all that
You’ve been faithful for the past five years.
I’m so sorry Anderson
I love you so much!
I’m glad I came back just like the first rain and snowfall.
It’s my time to find you now..
My heart belongs to you..
