CHAPTER 3

Lakshmi has been calling me but I dared not pick up her calls. I’m not ready for her usual ranting today.
Moreover my life is screwed up. My life is in a mess. I’m tired of living. I don’t know what to do with my bad life.
Whom do I meet or call?
I’m in a bad state.
I have a father who is more or less like a ghost on earth. I’ve been unlucky ever since I was born.
Mum has always told me that each person was born with a dictionary in his life. In my case, my dictionary does not have words like luck with success and happiness.
I have no future. Even if I have it is an empty one. My dreams has been shattered. My plans destroyed and my goals tarnished.
My phone rang up for the 12th time so I switched it off. I don’t want any sort of disturbance in my thoughts.
I sat at the usual spot I normally spend time together with Lakshmi. I’ve been thinking so hard.
I hate my self for having a father. I hate my mum for leaving me all alone by myself in this harsh world
I really don’t have any hope right now. I do…
“Anderson!”
The voice of Laks broke in to my thoughts. She finally figured out where I was..
LAKSHMI
I’ve tried calling his number but he ain’t picking up his calls. He finally switched off the phone. He isn’t in his house. The door was locked
I was so worried until I realized that I haven’t checked out the school. There’s the usual spot I do stay together with him
There he was. Down in deep thought. I screamed out his name immediately I found him
“Anderson ”
He looked up at me as his face was red.
I walked up to him
“Hey! What’s wrong with you. Why ain’t you picking my calls? ”
He barely even looked at me twice
“You think running away will solve up the problem? ”
He didn’t even look at me nor gave me a reply
I was irritated by his attitude
“Anderson,i hate you! Since I’m no longer important to you. Then let me back off. Bye! ”
I turned to move away but his voice stopped me
“I wasn’t given the chance to get my certificate! ”
I turned back immediately
“What do you just say? ”
“I’m never gonna leave this year! ”
He screamed out..
My heart shattered immediately I heard that
I walked up to him as I sat down beside him
I placed my hands on his shoulders
“Tell me it isn’t true! ”
“It is! ”
“But why? ”
“The new guy in class needs to get his certification, so mine was given up for him. The head said I could wait till another year”
He broke down into tears..
“Why should yours be given up for him? ”
“His father is the councilor! ”
“What!! ”
Tears streamed down my face. He’s seemed pitiful.
“Lakshmi, I have a worthless piece of dad ”
“Anderson! ”
“My life is in a mess. I could just give up everything. I hate my life. My dreams are shattered. ”
“Anderson please! ”
We both rested on each other shoulders as we cried so hard together.
“I’m not trying once again. I’m leaving! ”
“What! ”
I looked into his eyes. He seemed timid.
“Lakshmi I’m lost! ”
“Anderson it’s fine. You’re not gonna spend an extra year. We’d find a solution. ”
“How? ”
“Trust me Anderson ”
He rested his head on my shoulder as I patted his back
I need to get something done. I remembered the promise I made to him months ago
If he’s in a situation where he can’t help himself, I’ll do everything to assist him
I mustn’t break that promise. I must do something to help him.
I don’t want him to give up. Never!!
But what do I do?
I’m also lost.
My dad isn’t that a great person. We’re just managing on ourselves. I mustn’t give up on Anderson.
I must not!
