THE CURSE OF ALTVALL : CHAPTER 11 – 20

The Ashes of Hope

The sky was black with storm clouds. The Blood Moon had faded, but its aftermath remained like an open wound across Altvall Island.

Fire still crackled in the distance from the ruins of the Execution Grounds.

Smoke covered the trees. And death lingered in the air.
The rebellion had dared to bleed the beast.

And now, the beast had returned.
Hours after the rebels escaped, Surganah stood at the heart of the ravaged Stone Fortress, his chest still wrapped in a band of glowing red, healing slowly from the burn Reina had left behind.

He stared into the pot of power, and the reflection that looked back at him wasn’t a man—it was a monster with rage in its eyes.

“They dared to strike me…”

His voice was barely above a whisper. The room was silent except for the bubbling of the supernatural pot.

Then, he screamed.

With a wave of his hand, the pot began to swirl faster, faster—until images of the rebels began to appear one by one. Kael. Reina. Tira. Ellan. Lyara.

“Find them,” he growled.

At the secret rebel camp, Kael and the others were trying to regroup. Ellan had lost too much blood. Lyara was still unconscious. Reina’s arms were burned, and many of the others were too weak to fight. But there was a strange hope burning in their eyes.

“We made him bleed,” Kael said.

“That means he can be wounded. And if he can be wounded… he can be killed.”

But the hope was short-lived.
Because Surganah found them.

He came like a shadow, blackening the stars, descending with a dozen of his fiercest werewolves. They tore through the trees like living blades. The earth shook beneath their feet.

There was no time to fight.

No time to run.

The camp was massacred.

Kael was struck down by three werewolves at once.

Ellan died trying to defend Lyara.

Tira’s throat was ripped out while casting a protection spell.

Reina stabbed one in the heart, but she was crushed beneath another’s weight.

They screamed.

They bled.

They died.

And in the end—Surganah found Lyara crawling through the dirt, weak, terrified, broken.

“You,” he hissed.

She looked up with blood on her face.

“Even after I spared you… you dared to strike me?”

She whispered her final words: “You’ll fall.”

Surganah smiled coldly. “Not before you do.”

He lifted her by the throat.

And with a sickening crack—snapped her neck.
