THE EXCHANGE : Episode 31 – The End

THE EXCHANGE

Episode 39

The lovebirds finally returned to Nigeria & went directly to their home. Tunji couldn’t wait to show his bride the beautiful house he bought for her as his wedding present to her, & Toun did not disappoint him bcos she was awed by the beauty of the exterior & could not believe her eyes. The house was like stepping into a magazine; from the huge bronze gate that opened via remote control, to the well manicured landscape & the long driveway, lined with an assorted array of beautiful flowers gave the house a breathtaking view. She couldn’t imagine what inside the house would look like. She turned & hugged her husband & said, “thank u darling, this is awesome!” Tunji was very pleased by her reaction & he promised to do everything he could to make up for the lost years. The interior designer stopped at nothing to make the house heaven on earth & she was surprised they had a butler, a chef, maids & her personal maiden to help her dress up, who was trained in both African & European fashion; she felt like a queen & as if Tunji read her mind, he said: welcome home my queen & she looked up into his eyes & responded thank u my king. The love that shown forth from his eyes matched the one in her heart & she knew she was finally home.

A few days after they returned home she found out she was pregnant & she went to the hospital where it was confirmed.

For the first time since the children left Nigeria to school in England, they came home for summer holidays. They had met Tunji a few times since he married their mum but this was the first time they were going to spend such a long time with him. Olufunke took to him like a pin to magnet, Tunji sort of filled the gap of a father for her & Ayodeji has also warmed up to him but Ayomide was more cautious, finding it a bit difficult to relax in the company of a grown man bcos of his little experience with his father but his grandmother had encouraged him to give Tunji a chance. Granny had gone out with them once when he had visited London bcos she wanted to know this patient man who waited for her daughter in-law for 23yrs & had finally married her. She was so impressed with him, bcos he was such a gentleman: polite, cautious, polished, quite flawless in his spoken English fluent in German & French. She was totally captivated by him & when she begged for his forgiveness, he simply smiled & said it was destiny & he’s grateful for a second chance; she knew he was going to make a great father to her grandchildren, so she gave him her blessings. These were some of the facts that she had laid before Ayomide & explained that he would learn how to be a gentleman from his new dad.

When they arrived at their new home they were sure they were visiting a king bcos the house looked like a palace from one of their fairytale stories books & Ayomide fell in love with it & they were more excited that the house had an elevator to the pent house & they all wanted to have their rooms there; within the first week of living with Tunji had changed their outlook towards having another dad & they were happy to call him dad bcos it filled that awkward part in their lives where other children would talk about their parents but they could only talk about their mum; now they had a dad they could be proud of.

Toun had her babies, a set of twins, two boys on the last day of June & made Tunji the happiest man alive at age 47, he was finally a father…….
