The next day Grace’s house
I was lost in thought as I sat at the dining table, the twins were chatting but I was just watching lost in thought.
I guess April noticed since she tapped me. “You okay?” She asked
“Not really” I said sitting properly removing my hand from my chin
“Guys can I have your attention” I said a little loud and the twin stopped talking
“Thank you” I smiled “I am getting a new job….” Maria didn’t let me finish before butting in
” How much is your salary? What type of job is it? Is it better than this one? “She stopped talking when Monica tapped her
” Let her finish” Monica whisper but I heard
She turned to me and apologized “sorry you can countinue”
” Thank you” I said ” you are right Maria, it’s better than the agency but the problem is” I paused to study their expression and I can see the curiousity in their eyes they are obviously lost in thought what the problem is
“I will live there, I won’t be living with you guys anymore” I said
” Like a maid? “Monica asked with a hint of sadness
” Not a maid, more like I will be taking care of a property….”
“An estate agent? “You guessed right that is Maria
” Not an estate agent, I ….. All I need is you guys opinion should I take the job?” I asked
” As long as it’s not illegal I will say go for it” Maria said
I turned to Monica but she looked away then I turned to April.
“It’s for our family anyway” April said
“Is that your way of saying yes? “I asked and she nodded
” I’ll go get my things we are getting late for school” Maria said standing up
” I will clean the dishes” April said leaving after taking the dishes too. It was just I and Monica, I stood up from where I was sitting and went to sit beside her.
“What is it?” I asked but got no response “don’t you want me to leave?”
I can see the sadness in her eyes, I don’t get why she’s sad.
“That’s not it I am just worried” she said
“About me? “I scoff ” don’t worry too much I will be fine, I can take care of myself”
” I am not worried about you but about me and everyone else” She said
” Why?” I inquired
” Because we have never been apart, if you leave I wonder how I will be able to cope with Maria and April who are not always around.
Since mom and dad left you have been taking care of us, I just don’t think you should go.
I mean we are okay aren’t we? We don’t go to school hungry not to bed, and we are happy with each other, but if you leave I just….” I didn’t let her finish when I pulled her into a hug.
” I understand you” I said and she hugged me back
