Chapter 12
The door opened and Oliver father walked into the room starring at his son who was holding onto a file.
“What are you doing here?” Ben Hayes asked jolting Oliver to the present.
“I came here to get some important document and I stumbled upon this”Oliver said showing him the file
On seeing it Ben walked towards him, snatching the file from him.
“Why? Is there something there that I should not see?”Oliver asked.
“This is none of your business”Ben replied.
“It is my business if it has to do with that company”
“Do you know it?”Ben asked surprised by Oliver knowledge about the company.
“THE LORDS OF THE RINGS. It’s a company owned by a mafia lord right?”Oliver asked.
“Mind your business” Ben yelled at him.
“Why are you working with them. They are dangerous people, father!”
“To me they aren’t. So just leave their business to me and keep on handling other aspects of the company”Ben commanded.
“I refuse”Oliver said suddenly bringing his father gaze on him.
“What did you say?”
“I already made it clear to you that I have no intention of working in your company. I made my own fortune and my company needs me and so am going there to handle things”Oliver stated.
“But my company which you always refer it to is also yours. The company belongs to you. It’s your inheritance and…..”
“And I don’t want a part in it. I only stayed to work there just so I could get time to make my own fortune and now that have achieved that you can deal with your company” Oliver said as he turned to leave when his father hit the table angrily.
“Just what is wrong with you? Why do you keep on acting this way? ” He yelled at him.
“You really don’t know why am like this?”Oliver asked as he fought back the tears that threatened to spill.
“I don’t! Make me understand so I can fix it!”He said.
“You can’t fix it and that’s because she is d.ead. The person for who am behaving like this for is de.ad” He said and with that he left the room making his father ponder on what he said.
Oliver was heading back to his car when he got a call from Melissa.
“What’s wrong?”Oliver asked when he heard Melissa voice.
“Talk to me Melissa. What’s wrong?”He yelled again.
“It’s Isobel. She…….”
Ending the call immediately. Oliver got into his car. Heading straight to Melissa apartment..
When he got there he pressed in the code as usual and then he found Melissa on the floor with her hand injured.
“What happened?”He asked as he knelt in front of her.
Noticing him for the first time. Melissa pulled him into a tight hug.
“What’s going on Melissa?”Oliver asked as he took hold of her injured hand to wipe the bIood on his with his handkerchief.
“I don’t know! From one minute I was talking on the phone and then Isobel got out of the room.
She yelled at me, calling me names and when I tried to stop her. She cut me with a knlfe and ran out of the house”Melissa said.
“What? Where did she go to?” Oliver asked.
“I don’t know. I think she went to the nearest airport”Melissa told him and when he stood up to leave. She pulled him back quickly.
“Where are you going?”She asked.
“Am going after her”Oliver replied.
“Are you kidding me! Am the one injured here and besides she must have been long gone. You wouldn’t……”
“Melissa! Isobel has no one. Have got to be there for her just like she was for me”He said as he pulled her hand away leaving Melissa in the house.
He got to the airport and began his search, running around from one place to another while hoping that he gets to see her before she leaves.
Taking on the stairs elevator, he got to the second floor doing the same thing he did on the first but there was still no sign of her.
He was heading back to the first floor when he saw a lady with a hoodie over her head. Sitting at the waiting area while stamping her leg.
Deciding to confirm if it was her. Oliver walked towards her and it wasn’t until he got to where she was that he realise that it was really her.
“Found you”He said as she looked up to see him.
