Chapter 22
“Why do you want me to leave his life? Is it because you want him yourself?”Isobel asked startling Melissa.
“What if it’s because I want him for myself? Have only had eyes for Oliver and I thought that I will finally get the chance to be with him but you just had to return. You should never have come back!”She yelled at her.
“You talk like am someone important to Oliver? “Isobel asked.
“If only you knew. Well am glad that you’ve forgotten him and I hope you keep on doing so cause Oliver isn’t someone you should set your eyes on.
You think you know everything about him right?”Melissa asked starring at her.
Isobel couldn’t give a reply because the door opened and Oliver walked in. He paused when he saw the two in the room..
“What’s going on?”He asked and immediately Melissa fixed a smile on her face before turning towards him.
“What could possibly be going on? I just came to congratulate Isobel on your wedding. Isn’t that right Isobel?”Melissa asked giving her a look which told her to comply.
Isobel decided to play along not because of Melissa but because she didn’t want to cause trouble for Oliver.
He already has a lot on his plate by having her here and not getting along with Melissa who seems to be his only friend won’t sit right. She thought as she nodded in reply.
“And feeling very happy that someone supports us. I think we should go out to celebrate”Isobel said suddenly.
“To celebrate?. I like that idea. Where should we go?” Melissa asked eagerly.
“I did say we are going out but that doesn’t include you”Isobel said stunning Melissa into silence for a while.
“Why doesn’t it?”She asked and Isobel went to Oliver to hold his hand while she gave Melissa a angry look.
“We are the couple and it’s only right that the couple spend sometime alone and that’s what my husband and I will do.
You can come along next time” Isobel said dissmissing Melissa before pulling Oliver out of the room. It certainly must piss her off. Isobel thought happily.
“Why do I get the feeling that things aren’t right between you and Melissa?”Oliver asked a while later as they stood in front of the hotel waiting for Oliver car to arrive.
“I don’t like her just as much as she doesn’t like me”Isobel replied.
“Was Melissa rude to you?”Oliver asked.
“She was more than rude to me. I just don’t understand what her problem is? She was also like that back in the city when I overheard her calling one of Marco men.
That was when I decided to…..did I just spill that out?”She yelled as she stared at Oliver.
“Just when did Melissa call Marco men?”Oliver asked now looking angry.
“Its past now and you…..”
“Tell me Isobel!”He yelled at her
“On the day I left for the airport. I overheard her talking to one of them and when I tried to leave. She tried stopping me and out of fear.
I pushed her out of the way. I didn’t know if she got hurt though I heard her scream before running out of her house” Isobel confessed and immediately Oliver turned towards the hotel but she pulled him back.
“What are you going to do?” She asked holding onto his arm.
“What do you mean by what am going to do? Melissa had put you in danger”He replied looking angry.
“I know but am safe now. Thanks to you coming to find me. Am safe and am here with you. So just let her be. I didn’t tell you before so your friendship wouldn’t be ruin.
I don’t want to be the cause of your friendship being ruined so please, just let it go”Isobel implored.
“Fine then. I will let it go since you say so but promise me that if Melissa should do something that will cause you harm you should tell me immediately” He said and she nodded giving him a bright smile.
“Are you still up for the outing? I know you said that because of Melissa and….”
“Am still up for it. I would like to explore the island of love with you and I will also like to get to know more about you.
You once said we’ve met before. Tell me about it” She urged even as she got into the car the chauffeur was holding open for her while he followed suit.
They ordered the car to stop in front of the market and began their journey on foot. Though Isobel had been to the market a couple of times.
She certainly made it look like it’s her first. Smiling and wanting to try every little thing..
It made Oliver remember how she was a year ago. She was always carefree and happy.
That happiness had radiated his life then and it still did now though she hardly smiles now and it’s all thanks to Marco.
He had to get rid of him as soon as possible. Isobel safety and happiness depends on it. He thought as his reverie was broken by Isobel who kept calling him.
“Let’s try this place out”She said as she ran back to where he was to pull him.
