Chapter Seventeen
Ava rolled her eyes and leaned on the counter.
“What?”
“Well, never mind” she said.
Suddenly, the door flung open as an unexpected visitor walked in.
“Look who is here!”
Olivia walked towards Ava and blew her a kss. She acted like she didn’t see Erica.
“What’s up Ava?!” Olivia asked.
“Well, I’m good. Just busy with some boring customers” she replied.
“I see. Well I got you something” she said and gave her a bag.
Ava peeped into the bag and smiled.
“Thank you so very much. I needed a dress to wear to club on Saturday”
“Is there anything special happening?” Erica asked.
“Yeah… A cel…”
“See you later Ava!” Olivia said and turned to leave.
“Are you going to keep ignoring me?” Erica finally asked.
Olivia stopped and turned to face her.
“Have we met before?”
Erica gave a silent chuckle. She couldn’t believe Olivia was going to deny their friendship.
“Seriously?”
“You have two week left!” Olivia said and left the club.

“You shouldn’t have accepted the challenge. You don’t have time to look for a boyfriend”
“We’ll see about that. I’m going to find one this Saturday” Erica spoke with certainty. She stood up and left with her bag.
Ava sighed and left the counter.

Barbie followed Calvin into his room, complaining about Erica. He was really tired of her.
He took off his jacket and remembered when Erica had a hard time to select a Serene green jacket. A smile crept on his face.
“I’m talking about Erica and you are busy smiling”
Calvin snapped out of his thoughts and stared at his sister.
“What do you want Barbie? Just go already!”
“Are you kidding me?! I want you to punish Erica” she said almost yelling.
“No, I can’t”
Barbie pulled him and stared at him.
“She made me burn my tongue. See!” She said and brought out her tongue.
Calvin freed himself from her grip and started unbuttoning his shirt.
“Go, go and meet Kelvin” he said.
“Whatever! You are a dumba** anyway” she said and walked out of his room.
Calvin sighed and slammed the door behind. Sometimes he didn’t like when Barbie was around, she love to complain about everything.

Erica laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She remembered that day that her parents died. It all happened like a movie to her.

“Mom, Dad. Don’t go!” She cried to her parents.
“We have to… The function is really important” her dad replied.
“No, don’t. Something bad will happen to you if you leave”
“Fine, we won’t go. Go to bed now!” Her mother replied and kssed her forehead.
Erica stared at her parents as she entered into her room.
“Why did you say we aren’t going?” Her father asked.
“When she fall asleep, we would leave” she replied.
“Fine, nice idea”
“Winnie, make sure George doesn’t pay when he gets back home” her bother said to her sister as they sneaked out of the house.
Winnie rolled her eyes when they left. She slammed the door closed immediately and went to her room. She hasn’t gotten married then.

Erica snapped out of the thought and sat up. She didn’t want to cry before going to bed.
She walked to the mirror and started combing her hair.
“Who must have klled mom and dad? They… I wish I had idea of what happened but I was just twelve years” she murmured.

“Good morning master!” Erica greeted Calvin.
He turned and saw Erica.
“Oh Erica, join us for breakfast” Calvin said.
“Oh no, thank you master” she said, refusing to join them for breakfast.
“Low class people like you don’t eat healthy breakfast like this” Barbie said. Erica heard that and diverted her gaze away from Barbie.
Kelvin wiped his mouth and left the dining room.
He didn’t want to listen to any of their talks.

Erica just stood watching as they ate majestically. Calvin wiped his mouth and stood up.
“Shall we?” She asked.
“We have to wait for my brother. We always leave together” he said.

They got to the company and quickly walked in. When they were in the elevator, Kelvin couldn’t bear to listen to his brother and Erica’s talk.
“Thursday, that’s the first function we have to attend” Calvin said.
“Yes sir!” She said.
“I’ll send all the details to you” he added and Erica nodded.

They got into the office and went to their separate desk.
Erica walked to her table and saw a bag on it.
“What’s this?” She murmured.
She thought it was from Calvin. She secretly smiled and dipped her hand into the bag.
“Ahh!” She groaned in pain.
Calvin heard her voice and stood up from his seat.
He walked towards her and saw how bI.ood was dripping from her palm.
“Oh my… What happened to you? How did that…”he asked.
“I don’t… I don’t know” she said. She was bI.eeding really badly.
“You’ve lost a lot of bIood already. Let me take you to the hospital” Calvin said.
“Ouch, I don’t want to” she said.
“Don’t act stubborn now Erica! Let’s go” he said.
As Erica followed him, her hand touched the bag and the broken glass fell down. It shattered and $tabbed her leg.
“Argh!” Erica groaned again. She was in pain. She sat on the chair, trying not remove the glass from her hand.
Calvin saw a paper in the glass. He bent over and picked it.
“Since the case has been reopened, it’s game on!” He read out.
Erica raised her head and stared at Calvin after he read what was in the paper.
They both stared at each other. That was when Calvin realized that someone was after her life.
He walked towards her and helped her up.
“Let’s go” he said.
They opened the door and left the office. The employees watched as Calvin helped Erica out of the elevator. There was bIood after her.
“Isn’t that your sister?”
George turned and saw Erica. His eyes widened. He stood up and ran after Erica.
“Oh no, what happened to her?!” He asked.
“Just get the car ready!!” Calvin yelled at George. He ran outside and went to prepare the car.
Erica still didn’t want to go to the hospital.
“I don’t want to go to the hospital!” She said.
“Why? You have to go!” Calvin said.
“She doesn’t like hospitals and I’m scared that something might happen to her if she lost more bIood” George said. Calvin was looking confused. Erica was feeling weak already. She was breathing slowly.
“How did you get injured?” George asked.
“Mom and Dad’s murderer, he’s back!” Erica said with a weak voice.
