Chapter Sixty Four

Erica walked home disappointed. She didn’t understand why Kelvin went back to being cold. She threw herself on the couch and gave a loud sigh. She also lost her best friend, the only one that was like a sister to her. Thinking about everything started to make her cry.

Erica spent a whole week alone at home. She went to work but made sure no one knows it was her. From time to time, she’d check the VIP lounge to see if Kelvin would come but no.

“Yes, that was the order I made. Not a super blowing fan, what the hell am I gonna do with this?” She yelled over the phone, touching the wrong delivery.

“We are sorry ma’am, we’ll rectify it immediately”
Erica groaned and disconnected the call. She heard the doorbell. She placed her phone on the counter and quickly ran to the door. She flung it wide open, thinking it was who it was.
She saw a pizza delivery guy.

“Excuse me ma’am, I’m looking for…”

“Not here!” She said and slammed the door on his face. She groaned again and left to the sitting room. She grabbed the remote and pushed the power button as she sat on the couch.

She saw the breaking news and Calvin and Kelvin on the news. She sat up, squeezing her face.
“Calvin’s back?!” She yelled.

Erica was in a hurry as she ran into the company. She didn’t even stop by the receptionist but they stopped her.

“Where are you headed ma’am?” She asked.

“It’s me… Erica!”

“I know. But we are restricted from letting anyone who doesn’t have an appointment with the CEOs” she said.

“Uh… Yes I have. I have to complete signing my resignation letter”

“What’s going on?” They both turned and saw Ava. She was holding two cups of coffee. Erica wished she could hug her and apologize to her but she knew Ava wouldn’t still do anything about it.

“She wants to see the CEO” the receptionist reported.

“Let her in” Ava said and walked away. She didn’t even glace at Erica at all.
They both got into the elevator as they went up.

“Why are you here?” Ava asked.

“To sign my…”

“Oh I know you are here for that. You are here to see Calvin” Ava said, with anger in her voice.

“Not.. okay, yes! I’m here to see him” she finally confessed.

“How many times do I have to tell you are not for Calvin?”

“What? I belong to Kelvin?” She asked.

“I will just wait and watch you till you realize that it’s Kelvin and not Calvin” she said. That was when the elevator ding. They both stepped out and marched to Calvin’s office. Ava turned and entered Kelvin’s office.

Erica stood by the door. She saw Calvin on the phone. As he saw her, he disconnected his call and stood up.

“Erica?!” He called out. She walked towards him also and sniffed in like she missed him.

“Calvin” she also called out. They drew closer to each other and hugged each other.

“It’s been a while. Why did you leave the mansion? I asked of you but got no reply” He asked.

“It’s okay. I’m fine. The culprit has been caught so I had to leave” she replied.

“I’m so sorry, it was your brother all along. I wished I had known” he said.
Erica lowered her gaze and finally raised her head to stare at him.

“How’s your health? I never knew you were back” Erica said again and hugged him.

“I’m good as you can see baby. Have your seat, come on” he said as he left her to the chair.

Calvin sat down after Erica sat opposite him.
“We have a lot to do. I know I was supposed to get engaged to you and my brother had to fill in for me. This time, we are going to get married for real” he said, holding her hand. Erica swallowed her lower lips, secretly blushing.

“Are you for real?” She asked. Calvin chuckled softly.

“Have I ever lied to you about anything?” He asked.

“You are right. I missed you Calvin” she said.

“I miss you more. And yes… I saw your resignation letter. Why quitting?” He asked.

“Umm… I wanted to change it. I don’t want to quit anymore”

“You will be the wife of the CEO soon. You shouldn’t be seen wandering around. You have to be..”

“It’s alright Calvin. I know what to do” she said, smiling at him.

“Okay then… I have a lot of work to do”

“Sure. Bye then…” Erica said and left the office. She was happy as she left. She knew there was nothing that could come between she and Kelvin.

Ava walked into Calvin’s office after some minutes.
“Kelvin wants you to have this. He…argh!” She almost fell but Calvin caught her.

“Be careful Ava. If you fall, Erica would kill he” he said jokingly. Ava chuckled as she stood properly. She was almost scared that she’d fall.

“Thanks. Umm…” She paused and adjusted her hair to the back shyly.
Calvin collected the files and threw it on the table. Ava turned to leave but Calvin stopped her.

“Oh yeah, tell Kelvin that Erica isn’t quiting anymore” Ava nodded and left the office.

“Erica was here?!” Kelvin asked as he heard the news from Ava.

“Yeah, she was here minutes ago” she replied.

“Oh, okay, fine!” He said and continued with his work. Ava rolled her eyes and walked away. She noticed the shock on his face when he heard the news. She also see that Kelvin was also trying to ignore the fact that he also loved Erica. She walked back to her own desk.

Kelvin and Calvin went home together. As they alighted from the car, Calvin stopped his brother.

“What happened when I was gone?” He asked Kelvin.

“What are you talking about?” He asked.

“Erica didn’t know you were acting as me. So, something must have happened. You both must have hugged or…”

“No, no… Nothing like that happened. I.. I tried my best to avoid her. She’s yours not mine” he said and chuckled softly.

Calvin placed his hands on his brother’s shoulder.
“Thanks dude. I’m totally nothing without you” he said and walked in. Kelvin shook his head as he recollected everything he did with Erica. He also marched into the house.

They got in the house and saw Barbie supervising the maids to clean the whole house.

“Just try your best to reach that spot. I don’t like to see cobwebs, this isn’t a haunted house… Hey Cal, hey Kel” she said and walked towards her brothers.

“What’s happening?” Kelvin asked Calvin.

“Dad’s happy that you are back to the land of the living so he’s hosting a family lunch tomorrow” she said.

“Wait, family?” Kelvin asked.

“Just us… No extended family. But he wants you to bring your fiancees and you Kelvin” she said.

“Of course, I would. That’s incredible” Calvin said and walked away. Kelvin started thinking about the fact that he would see Erica after a while.

“What are you thinking about?” She slapped his arm. Kelvin gasped back to reality.

“Nothing” he said and left.
Barbie snorted and walked away.

Kelvin was staring at his phone as he was in his office.
He needed to leave the office when it’s 12. He didn’t want to be a disappointed to his father again but he also didn’t want to impress him. He needed to find someone to fill the spot as his fiancee.

“Uh, Ava?” He called out. Ava turned her head and stared at her boss. She left what she was doing and walked to his desk.

“Huh?” She replied.

“Um, I’d like to make a request. I’ll pay for it” he quickly added.

“Okay?” She said, wanting to know what he had to say.

Barbie was waiting for her brothers to arrive already. Her parents were here already.

“Where are they? Are they alright?” Tracy asked, making sure her sons are alright.

“Of course mom. They are just late because of their fiancee. You know how ladies dress”

“Am I good?” Erica asked Calvin as they walked into the house.

“Urgh, no” Calvin frowned.

“Huh? Is it that bad?” She asked, as she shot her eyes wide open.

“Haha, you are more than perfect my love. Come on” he said. Erica held her chest as she walked in, she was almost scared.

“Are you sure this is okay?” Ava asked as she walked in with Kelvin.

“It is. You are not looking bad in gowns but pants fits you more” he said, squeezing his face.

“Whatever, what would be their reply? They know it’s impossible for something to happen between us. That’s gross” Ava rolled her eyes.

“Do you think I want this? Just keep quiet and let’s go in already” he said and pulled her in.

“Finally, my babies are here!” Tracy said as she sprung up to hug Calvin and Erica.

“It’s nice to see you again Erica” Tracy said and kissed her cheek. Erica gave a soft laughter.

“Yeah, me too” she said.

“Come here big boy! You are well again! I missed your a**!” She said and slapped his a**. Calvin groaned in pain and disengaged his body from his mother’s.
Mr Greg saw Kelvin walking in with his own borrowed fiancee. He stood up and walked towards Kelvin.

“Welcome back son” he said. Kelvin furrowed his eyebrows and also accepted the hug from his father. That was one thing he hasn’t done in his life, to hug his father.

“Hey there pretty face” he said, waving at Ava.

“Hello sir!” Ava said.
Erica heard that familiar voice and turned only to see Ava with Kelvin. It was like her heart ran away from her body. What she just saw shocked her.

“What the…” She murmured, still staring at Ava.
