CASSANDRA’S POV
Danielle!!! I called on facing her. “What? You’re not pleased to see me here or are you that shocked to see me catch you red handed? She asked and I sighed.
C’mon! what do you mean by catch me red handed, do you think I was doing something mischievous? Oh! Please, stop being prejudicial and stop scaring me like that… I said
I just hope I’m wrong, because I caught you peeking through that entrance and eavesdropping on their conversation. I advise you to learn how to mind your damn business, it’s what we all have been doing before you got here… She said to me and walked away
Where on earth did she come out from? I said to myself as she walked away and went back to check where an entrance is because I didn’t notice anyone. Wait! Has she been watching my steps in this house? I thought.
I really need to lay low for now to avoid any suspicion for myself…I said. just then, my phone started ringing which made me run farther away so they won’t hear the sound.
I checked the caller and it’s my boss, “This man sure knows when exactly to call” I said and silenced the phone and headed to the garden to make the call.
There’s a lady whom is serving as a we stumbling block to me. It seems she’s got eyes on me ever since I got here and she’s always talked straight to my face in a bold way, I don’t know if you can take her as your prey… I said to him as I answered the phone
I’ll be sending someone to hack into every cameras in that house soon and you can show me who she is then. “Just make sure you don’t fail, else you’ll find yourself kissing the world goodbye” he said and hung up
GABRIEL’S POV
“Let’s have this discussion later, i need to have somethings done right away” i said to Matilda as I suddenly felt the urge to check somethings out on my laptop.
“No problem” she replied and I patted her shoulder before leaving her.
I smiled on seeing my intellectual ability have positive influence in my brother’s home. “Meet me in my room now”! I said to Danielle on the telephone and she came in few minutes after.
I heard your voice earlier at the balcony, who was it that you were talking to and what were you discussing? I asked her.
“Oh! That was nothing, I was talking to someone on phone” she replied not knowing I’m aware that she’s lying.
Have you forgotten that I’ve got cameras installed everywhere in the house? I said and she scratched her head.
I’m sorry for lying, I was talking with Cassandra, I don’t know why but I find her suspicious. She’s been too nosy ever since she got here, just imagine her asking what the relationship between her and the boss is.
I knew she’s up to something and decided to tail her but made it unaware to her…. She said and I sighed.
What do you think we can do about her? I asked
Well! I think we need to have our eyes on her, and I’m sure the surveillance cameras will help us capture every of her movements… She replied and I smiled.
You’re too smart and beautiful to be working as a chef in this house. Let’s do as you’ve said, I hope we find something intriguing about her. I said and dismissed her.
Wow! you’re back so soon! I said to myself as I saw my brother walk into the house. I hibernated my laptop and went out of the room.
“Bro waddup! you returned pretty soon” I said as I have him a slight hug. “Let’s talk in my room” he said
“Matilda follow me” he added without looking back. I looked at her and she shrugged before we both followed him.
“Here I am sir” Matilda said as soon as we entered the room. “Please stay outside for a while. I need to change my cloth, I’ll call you when I’m through”… He replied
Why did you call her inside? I asked as I bounced on his bed. “I need to ask her about her past and her parents. Check the pictures in that envelope… He replied
“Wow! She had a twin sister” I exclaimed on seeing them and he nodded. “Come in” he said referring to Matilda and she entered.
“Have your seat” he said and she did. “Now! I need you to tell me about your family, about your past if you don’t mind… He said
Why are you brothers suddenly asking to know about me? She asked and John turned to me. You asked her that? He asked and I nodded.
We’ll talk about that later, I’ve got something to tell you but that’d better be later… I said.
I’m Matilda Robert, I was born into a peaceful family of just four. My parents, my twin sister and I. My father was a hardworking man who would go any miles to make sure he satisfies our needs and protect his family from any danger.
We were living peacefully and happily, but everything turned the other way round when my dad became the Managing director of the company he was working at.
We became richer and happier, but little did we know that there’s someone who has been eyeing the position given to my father and would do anything to get rid of him in order to take over the position.
My dad started representing his company owners in different international conference meetings and I think that got the man angrier and he made some assassins come for my dad. They murdered him while we were on vacation. And I guess that was why we were able to remain alive.
After burying my father, my mom and the cops started investigating the matter. His boss’s family weren’t left out as they also helped us hire agents to investigate the murder.
All our hopes got lost when we saw it on the news that his boss, wife and children got murdered too. It was then we knew that the person wasn’t it after our dad.
My sister and I returned from school one afternoon and met a letter that says we should vacate our home the following day if we don’t want to end up like our father.
My mom took the letter to the police station immediately but they still couldn’t find any trace of who the murderer was.
Our house was raided the same night, but we were able to escape through the secret exit my dad made for any emergency… We couldn’t take any of our valuables because it was so sudden.
It was later my twin sis told is she took our dad’s debit card, we survived by spending the money kept in his bank account and we lived in my mom’s mall.
Everything got worse when our supermarket got burnt and nothing was left except ashes.
We couldn’t leave the country because he’s gone far ahead of us, he ruined us totally. All my dad’s investment got taken by him… She narrated.
Excuse me, how did you know it wasn’t the master planner that attacked you, like how did you know he sent someone else to do the jobs? I asked
It wasn’t just one person just one person that came and I knew just one person can do that by himself. We saw the half part of one of the killers on the camera’s footage.
We resolved to begging on the street but that didn’t last long as my parent and only sister got hit by a truck and it was a hit and run case.
Our mother died on the spot while my sister survived but it was just for a day, as she gave up the ghost while I was feeding her the following morning that she woke up. I saw the face of the truck driver but he was able to disappear from the scene.
A cops walked up to me on the day they were buried and handed an envelope to me. I checked it and it was the pictures of the person who eliminated my family and his colleagues. That was how I was able to recognise him the very first day he came back for me… she narrated amidst tears.
I watched as my brother consoled her and gave her the envelope he gave me to check earlier. My alarm started blinking which indicates nothing but danger and violation. I ran to my laptop immediately and smirked on seeing what was happening.
John’s phone rang and he answered it. What’s the matter? He asked me as he placed his phone on his ear.
“Your security system has been breached, your cameras are being hacked” I heard the voice say.
What!!! John said standing up immediately. “That’s exactly what I’m seeing here too” I said to him.
Start working immediately!!! He ordered both I and the person he was speaking with but I was already at work before he said that.
