Mr. and Mrs. Mars have returned home with Veronica, the doctor said Mr. Mars needs to calm his mind and they shouldn’t remind him of anything that will make him sad or angry
But how is that possible when their daughter is pregnant and their teaching is against fornication or other things, what will the public say when they hear about this?
They were seated in the sitting room looking at Veronica like a stranger
“Veronica, when did this happen?” Her mother was the first to ask
She looked at them without knowing what to say, she absolutely have no idea of what they are talking about
“Did you suddenly lose your tongue?” Her father asked
“I don’t understand. What’s going on?” She asked
“Who is responsible for your pregnancy?” Her mother finally broke the news to her
It was as if her whole life has come to an end as she started sweating and shaking
“Pregnant?” She said with tears
“Yes, pregnant! you are a week pregnant now would you mind telling us who the father of that baby is?” Her mother asked
She was silent
“Was he the reason why you refuse to get married?” Her father Mr. Mars asked
Silence
“You rejected twelve men so that you could disgrace us, what will people say about you now when they find out you are pregnant?” Mrs. Mars said
“Am sorry mum, dad please am sorry,” she said still sobbing
“Who is responsible for this?” Her mother asked
She quickly remember what Franklin said he will do if she tell anybody about him
“It’s…..it’s…” She stammered
“How many were they?” Her father asked
“No it’s only one person,” she quickly replied
“Then who is he?” Her father asked
“You need to talk, that’s the only way to save you from this,” her mother said
“It’s Franklin, Franklin Armstrong,” she finally gathered enough courage and said
Her mother grabbed her hand and immediately went out
“Where are you going?” Mr. Mars asked
“Am going to see the person that put her in a family way, he must marry her before the public hears about this, I can’t let them disgrace my daughter like this,” she said and dragged her out
