Chapter 8

He started moving his face closer to mine and I gulped down nothing. His lips were about touching mine I heard a crashing sound and I widened my eyes on seeing Ezra been pushed to the wall.

He made a painful groan and I turned to see who pushed him.

“Dolly!” I looked shocked on seeing her. How did she get the strength to push him that hard.

“I don’t want to see you with my boyfriend” she glared at me angrily.

“Boyfriend?” I arched my brows and moved my gaze to Ezra who also looked shocked to see Dolly.

“I’m not your boyfriend” Ezra gritted his teeth.

“Of course you are. You asked me out, remember “ dolly said.

“You literally did and I’m not interested in you. I don’t love you” he uttered.

“But you love her” she squeezed her face in disgust. “You love someone you can’t be with. Someone who is nothing but a whore. Someone who is…”
Her words were cut off when I slapped her hard across the face.

“I can take anything from you but don’t you ever call me a whore. I’m not like you who opens her leg for any guy she see. I won’t tolerate nonsense from you. Have a good life with your “boyfriend” “ I air quoted the boyfriend and left and I could hear Ezra voice called me but I didn’t answer.

I got back to the hall and it wasn’t hard finding Anita because she walked up to me.

“I’m going home” I said.

“Did something happen? You don’t look so good”

“I just want to leave this place. Will text you later and please don’t follow me, I will be fine” I assured her. She doesn’t seem convinced but she nodded anyways and watched me leave.

**********

(HOME)

I hugged my pillow staring at my ceiling. I wants to cry but no tears were coming out. Tears haven’t really solved anything. In fact, tears doesn’t not solve anything instead it worsens everything.

I didn’t get to enjoy prom the way I had always imagined. No date, no body to dance with and I lost the guy I love.

How I just wish I have been dreaming all this while. I’m not getting married to Hayden and any of the stuffs that happened lately.

My phone started ringing and I picked without checking the caller’s ID.

“Hello” a masculine voice which belonged to Ezra said.

“Hi” I replied.

“Brit, I’m sorry about today”

“You don’t have to. You were the one who got hit against the wall”

“But Dolly…”

“Just forget about it and her. How are you?” I asked.

“I’m fine, I guess. When is your wedding?”

“In a week’s time” I replied blankly.

“That’s before our graduation. You will be there right?”

“Of course, yeah!”

“I’m happy for you”

“You are?” I asked surprisedly.

“Of course no! The girl I love is getting married to someone else, there is no way I would be happy but it’s fine, I wish you luck”

“Thanks” I said with a cracked voice. The tears have been trying to hold fell off my face.

“But we would still see right? I can still call you? To check up on you? Or I’m not allowed to?” He inquired.

“You can, Ezra and we would see in college also”

“You will go to college?”

“Of course”

“Oh I thought you wouldn’t, you know you are getting married and…” he stopped.
Same mindset Tiana had.

“I will. You will apply for Harvard university?” I asked.

“Yes”

“We will meet there” I told him cleaning my tears. I heard him sniffle.

“Ezra…” I called.

“I’m sorry. This feels like a goodbye. I feel I won’t be able to reach you again after today” He sobs.

“Ezra, can you please stop crying” I requested cleaning my own tears.

I didn’t hear his voice for about a minute and when he finally talked, his voice sounded quiet. Really quiet I could hardly hear him.

“I love you so much Brit, it’s sad it has to end without us being together”

“I love you too, Ezra” I said sadly.

He didn’t say anything for some seconds and finally ended the call.

I dropped my phone and clutched my pillow closer to my face, crying.

{A WEEK LATER}

It’s finally the day. My wedding day. I shouldn’t be happy but I woke up feeling nervous and super happy.

“Get a grip of yourself, Brit!” I muttered.

I was about getting up from the bed when the door to my room opened and Tiana entered.

“Hey baby girl, it’s your wedding!” She screamed.

“Stop making it seems like it’s a good thing” I scoffed.

“I won’t accept that energy from you today” she folded her arms on her chest. “Now get into the bathroom and have your bath of do you need me to do it for you”

“And when did you become interested in girls?” I asked sarcastically.

“I have no interest in you, now get into the bathroom. The make up artist and hair stylist will be here soon” she said.

“Okay mom” I rolled my eyes and dragged my self into the bathroom.

Half an hour later, I was in front of the mirror as the make up artist hired did wonders to my face. I wanted Tiana to do my make up but my mom disagreed.

My heart was pounding. I’m not supposed to be this nervous. I don’t want this right?

I don’t even understand myself anymore.

“Uhm” Tiana stopped the make up artist. “The make up is too heavy. Can you please allow me do it?”

“Are you trying to teach me my job” the artist looked at her angrily.

“How about I pay you times three of what you are getting paid” I offered and she stared at me greedily and agreed immediately. Everything she did on me was washed off and Tiana started performing her magic.

She was done in less than 20 minutes and that was the moment my mom entered.

“Oh my God! You look so pretty. I knew you were capable” she smiled at the make up artist. I’m just going
to tell her Tiana Did my make up later.

My hair was styled and my wedding gown was put on me.

It was almost time to go to the church. Tiana went to put on her clothes. She is my bride’s maid.

It was only I and my mom in the room.

“Brit, I promise you you wouldn’t regret this”

I said nothing. “I want the best for you. I’m not a wicked mother or something. Hayden loves you and …”

I looked at her like she had gone crazy. “You don’t need to lie to convince me or make me happy”

“I’m serious”

“Can we just go to the church and get this over with already” I changed the topic.

She nodded and stood up. “This is how I reacted on my wedding day with your father. I didn’t love him but my parents insisted I get married. Here I’m happy with him”

“Are you, mom? Are you?”

She didn’t reply me. Instead, she stood up and asked us to get to the church the wedding would be taken place.

It’s really happening. Today, I will be getting married to the billionaire, Wyatt Hayden.
