BRITTANY’S POV

Walking away from the elevator, I couldn’t help but think about Layla words. How come she works here and I never got to know about it. And Hayden didn’t tell me about it.

“You never asked” my sub conscious said.

I decided not to think about her words. Not like she can do anything.

I got to his office and met with the secretary.

“Where is your boss?”

“In a meeting” She answered without looking at me.

I said nothing and walked towards the direction of his office.

She stopped me before I could enter.

“I’m sorry. Who are you?” She asked.

“His wife” I answered.

She looked at me as if observing my face.

“I’m sorry but you would have to wait here till he is done” she said.

“I just told you I’m his wife” I rolled my eyes.

“I have to do my job”

“Then get ready to find a new one” I said.

Her eyes widened in fear. “I’m sorry. So so sorry. You can enter” she rushed her words and I smirked.

“Good” I said and entered the office.

It was big and of course spacious. I walked to the table and on it lies different flies and a laptop.

I walked away and looked at the wall which has a frame of him wearing tuxedo in it.

He had a serious face on and still looked handsome as always.

I looked at it and a smile appeared on my face knowing this man is mine.

‘Enjoy him while it last’ Layla’s voice rang in my ear.

I am not scared of her. She is just ranting just to scare me.

I took a deep breath and went to sit down. I brought out my phone and decided to play games awaiting Hayden’s arrival.

I was so engrossed in the game I didn’t know when Hayden entered until I felt a touch on my neck.

I turned to see Hayden.

“A surprise visit huh?” He said.

“I haven’t really been to your company. You are not happy to see me?” I asked.

“Of course I am. I’m sorry I couldn’t pick you up” he said playing with my hair.

“It’s fine. Jacob have always picked me up anyways” I shrugged.

“But I want to now” he says and I closed my eyes as I felt his touch on my neck.

“I need to work” he said and I sighed in disappointment as he moved a way from me to his seat.

“Do you ever rest?” I rolled my eyes.

“We both know I do” he said opening his laptop.

I got up and went to his back and started massaging his shoulder.

“So uhm…” I started.

“What?”

“Layla…so she works here?”

“yeah”

“And….”

He turned to look at me.

“What’s wrong?” He asked.

“I just don’t like the fact that she works here”

“She passed the interview”

“She clearly has another motive working here” I rolled my eyes.

“Which is?”

“Getting you” I said.

“Huh?”

“She likes you. The bch doesn’t even hide it”

“Brit, calm down”

“I’m calm”

“Layla and I have the boss and employee’s relationship. Nothing extra”

“I know. But, she seems desperate. I don’t like her. I don’t trust her. Can’t you just sack her?”

“It doesn’t work that way”

“It can. You owe the company”

“Layla is also a friend. You know that right”

I laughed. “Yeah. Old time friend. I get it…you two can do whatever you like.” I said burning in anger and jealousy.

He holds my hand but I removed it. He drags me making me fall on him.

I tried to let go but he held me tightly.

“Babe…Layla might like me but I don’t like her. Not even a little bit. You have nothing to worry about”

“But what if she…”

He interrupted me. “She can do nothing. You are the only one I love.”

I seem to calm down a little and decided not to tell him about my encounter with Layla.

I stared at Hayden..

I can’t lose him right?
