LAYLA’S POV

“It seems hard! It just seem hard and it’s so annoying” I complained to Heidi.

I’m currently in her apartment because I badly need someone to talk to.

“Brittany isn’t so easy to handle. She is rude. She talks back and I won’t lie, she scares me” I said frowning.

“You are still close with Hayden right? Why don’t you sleep with him and make sure you get pregnant and pin it on him” Heidi suggested.

“Easier said than done. This guy doesn’t even look at me. Doesn’t give me the chance to get close to him. It seems that stupid Brittany bewitched him” I gritted my teeth.

Heidi looks at me. “Why don’t you just give up. There are other men outside who you can get at a snap of a finger. Why are you still chasing after Hayden if he doesn’t love you”

I gave her a look. “Really? I thought you could come up with a solution. Coming here was a bad idea” I uttered and made to carry my bag and leave but Heidi stopped me.

“Calm down baby. I didn’t mean that” she said and I rolled my eyes and sat down.

“What to do? I don’t want to lose him

“The issue here is how do you make Hayden and Brittany separate. With the way Hayden defends Brittany, I’m not sure it’s easy” Heidi said and I nodded in agreement.

“So what to do?” I asked.

Heidi holds her chin as if thinking.

“I think I got an idea” she finally said and my face lit up.

HAYDEN’S POV.

On getting to the hospital, Brittany was immediately taken to a ward and a doctor attended to her while I was told to wait in the waiting room.

I wasn’t myself as I kept on pacing around.

I was going ¢razy and I know it. The sight of bIood coming out of Brittany’s mouth is scary and I hope the worst isn’t about to happen.

The doctor finally came out and I rushed to meet her.

“How is she? Is she fine? What happened to her?” I rushed my questions.

“Let’s talk in my office please” He said calmly.

I nodded and followed him.

We got to his office and he asked me to sit down.

“Just tell me what’s wrong!” I half screamed and the doctor finches.

“Food poisoning” he said.

“What?” My eyes widened in shock.

“Her food was poisoned. The drug is really strong and it’s a miracle she’s still alive, the drug takes effect after two to three hours of use and it’s suppose to kll her immediately but she was brought in fast” he explained.

“How is she now?” I asked as I was more worried about her safety.

“She’s still alive but still unconscious. Put your mind at rest, she will be fine. The poison have been flushed out” he assured.

“Can I see her?” I requested.

“I’m sorry, No. you would be informed when you can see her” he said and I nodded.

“Thank you” I said and left his office.

Whoever poisons her will regret ever doing that.

I placed a call on Jacob as I walked out of the hospital. He picked almost immediately.

“Where did Brittany go to today?” I asked.

“School. I took her home immediately after her lecture” he answered.

“What time did she leave school”

“Around 4”

“Okay” I said and cut the call.

I checked the time. It was almost 8. I got home 7.

The doctor said the poison takes effect 3 to 2 hours of use which means she was poisoned at home.

I entered my car and drove to the house in fast speed.

I called Jacob not caring if I was endangering my life by driving by calling and driving at the same time.

“Have never maid left the house since I left” I asked.

“No”

“Nobody must leave the house until I come, do you understand?”

“Yes, yes”

I dropped the call and placed a call to the police station giving them my home address and asking them to come as soon as possible.

On getting to the house, I parked my car and came out of it and entered the house.

Immediately, I summoned all the maids to the living room.

“What did Brittany eat when she came back and who prepared it?” I asked and they started whispering among themselves.

“I believed I asked a question!” I yelled and they all flinched in fear.

“I will ask for the last time, who prepared her food?!” I asked, my temples throbbed with rage.

Nana walked to the front and i noticed her hands and legs shaking.

She was also sweating.

“What did you cook for her?” I asked.

“Erm… bread. Yes. I bought bread for her” She stuttered.

“And?”

“Egg”

“You also bought that for her?”

“I…fried it, just Erm that”

“And apart from spices, what else did you put in it?” I asked her.

“Nothing! This is not the first time I would cook for her and I have never attempted to put something…I mean, I only added spices” she rushed her words scratching her head.

Almost immediately, the police arrived and I looked at nana and saw a tear in her eyes.

“You all will explain to the police and if the person who poisons my wife doesn’t confess, you all will rot in jail” I said and the other maids started crying.

“We will have to search the house also” one of the policeman said and I nodded in approval.

“I did it!” Nana said and the maids gasped.

“I didn’t know what to do anymore. I wanted to escape knowing I might be catch but the gate keeper wouldn’t allow anybody out” she said cleaning her tears.

“I’m so jealous of her. She has everything. The perfect life, the perfect husband but I was just a maid. She captured the heart of the man I have always loved since I saw him.” She faced me.

“I have always loved you but you never even took a second glance at me. It hurts so much. I still had hope something might happen but you married her. The marriage doesn’t seem peaceful and I seem assured it might not work out and I would have a chance not until recently you guys got too attached and it’s klling me. If I can’t have you then she can’t either. I’m not sorry for poisoning her because she deserves it. She deserves to die. I know I can’t have you and I want her to die! That’s why I got the strongest drug poisoning I can get.”

“She has to d ie. The bch must d ie!” Nana said with no remorse and I walked up to her and sIapped her. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and I sIapped her again making her fall on the floor.

“You don’t talk about my wife that way.” I said and made to sIap her again but one of the police man held my hand stopping me.

“We would take it from here” They said and handcuffed her.

“I love you. It feels so good to tell you after years of keeping it to myself” Nana said and I felt the urge to sIap her again.

The policemen took her out of the house while she kept looking back to look at me which disgusted me.

Because of her, my wife is in a critical state. Because of her, she might have died. Because of her, I am not even sure she would be fine.
She is definitely not going to go scot free.
I looked at the other maids who have a look of ho..rror and surprise on their faces.

“You all are fired!” I declared with a blank look.

They started crying and begging.

“I have made my decision, first thing tomorrow, Pack your things and leave. Will support you with some cash before you leave but you can’t work here anymore” I said with a tone of finality.
