“M….Master?” Octavia called out, sounding confused.
“Is that a question or an answer?” Khalid leaned forward and asked in a whisper and that was when it actually dawned on Octavia.
He was asking her to chose a name!!
Hah! What the he¢k???
“You have five seconds, Octavia” he gave her ear a tiny bite and she blinked rapidly.
“I um… I think I’d go with Khalid” she finally said, her heart racing heavily.
Oh God… What if it just a test and he ends up getting mad at her???
But the truth is, she’s always prefered calling him Khalid. She just liked the name right from time and loved the way it sounded on her lips.
Urgh! What is she even thinking?? It isn’t a name for everyone – can never be.
“Really?” Khalid asked, his hot breath touching her neck.
If it wasn’t for how dark it was, Octavia would’ve been able to see the smile on his face.
“Y… Yes Master. Although….its just a harmless reply and you can change it if you want. I’m really sorry” she answered anxiously, just incase she was in trouble.
Khalid got hold of her cheeks and kssed her again – this time around, slowly.
For the next few seconds, only her erratic breaths were heard in the room.
“Master” she called after a while.
“Why don’t you tell someone in the clan about your condition? I mean….the X-family is quite large, right? And I have a feeling someone in the clan might be able to help”
“What happened to Khalid?” Khalid chuckled and bit her neck
Hold on…Was he really expecting her to call him by his name??
“You don’t understand, Octavia” he answered calmly. “If anyone in the clan gets to know about my condition; gets to know about my Weakness, I’ll definitely be disqualified from the elections.
“This elections means a lot to me, Octavia – been waiting for it for years and now, I can’t just back out and Welcome anything that’d make me back out. Even if I have to lose my life, I just sanv to die knowing I achieved what I’ve always wanted”.
The words struck at Octavia again. God! Why does he keep saying those words huh? Why does he keep trying to hurt her??
Her heart was tearing up again but she didn’t want to have a break down in front of him.
“Your mother…” She said. “Can’t you just…give it a try and…. look for her? Meet her up and ask for her help and forgiveness?”
“That woman is never gonna forgive me without a price, Octavia – a price that’d actually be equal to my life. And I have a feeling she isn’t alone in this”. He replied and Octavia arched a brow.
Huh?
“I… I don’t understand?”
The countenance in the room had changed.
“I have a feeling she’s been gingered by someone” he enthused. “For years, My mother didn’t pester me. Then,all of a sudden, she’s back and tormenting me. The coincidence is quite much”.
Octavia wished there was a little bit of light so she could stare into his face as he spoke.
Who was he talking about?
“Zack” he finally called the name like he read her thoughts.
“Something in my guts just keep telling me he has something to do with this”.
“Master Zack?” Octavia asked with awe in her voice.
“Yeah. I’d figured he was probably angry because… I’d refused handing you over to him back then. So,it’s obvious he located my mother and made a deal with her because… he’s actually the only one who knows that secret”.
Octavia was dumbfounded. Master Zack was behind this? He betrayed Khalid???
Good lord.
“Then it’s all my fault” she muttered, echoes of fear discerning in it.
“It’s…It’s all my fault. You’re in this mess because of me”.
“Hey, hey, stop that….”
“No! It’s all my fault” she got free from his hands and sat up, bursting into tears.
“He’s mad at you because…you went against him just to protect me. You…You ruined your friendship just for me”.
“The same way you slept with Michael just for me” Khalid cut in and sat up, turning on the lights.
Now, they could see each other’s faces. But Octavia’s head was bent downwards since she was crying.
“Come on Octavia, it was my choice okay? And I had my reasons for doing that. So, don’t try to put the blame on yourself on anything!”
“But it doesn’t change the fact that you’re gonna die because of my mistake!” She yelled tearfully.
“If I had known, I’d have just stayed and suffered with Zack. If….if I had known, I wouldn’t had run away from him or come to your clan for refuge. You two would’ve still been close friends and you wouldn’t be planning on dieing anytime soon. Everywhere I go, I bring nothing but badluck! I’m cur$ed…!”
Khalid pulled her into a hug immediately.
“Goodness Octavia, will you stop that?” He sighed. “I don’t know how long I can take this, Octavia. Just stop it already”.
“I’m sorry” she whimpered. “There has to be a way. I swear, I’m never gonna survive it if you die because of me”.
“Octavia!” She was shocked at the anger in his tone. “I don’t want you saying that. Don’t piss me off”
Octavia lowered her gaze and bursted into more tears.
And Khalid, realizing he made her a little scared, pullled her into another hug.
“I’m sorry” he sighed while stroking her hair gently. “But I really don’t want you having any regrets, Octavia. I’ve never wanted anyone having regrets beds of me. So, can you just stop it?”
“Yes… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…”
But her heart kept tearing apart knowing everything was her fault. Khalid was going to die because of her – because of her stupidity.
No! She was never going to survive it. She’d never be able to live with it.
No matter what it takes, she needed to find a solution for him.

The pretty young woman stood in front of the mirror as she brushed her hair.
A victorious smile was lingering on her lips as she did and she took in a deep breath when she was done, Making the long dark hair to fall freely on her shoulders.

Finally, it was time to see her son – she thought and left the room.
