Sophia had been talking with Dan both on the phone and in reality to his surprise. She had suggested they met at a renowned restaurant. He was dressed to the nines because of that.
“Yo bro, where are you going dressed like that?” Kunle yelled, as he took in his white dress shirt and tailored trousers.
“Oh, going to see and escort Sophia at the Hilton towers.” he said, as he grabbed his blazer jacket.
“Dope, seriously you guys know that the media will link you up right? And is that what you want?”Kunle gave his friend a sorry look as he spoke.
“As long as it makes her happy I’m all for it, by the way. Where is the cooler of food, she brought yesterday?” he asked, knowing Kunle the food monger had eaten it.
“Wow, forgot that totally, the woman can cook. I hope you bring her home instead and bro when are you going to get la!d?” he effectively manipulated the topic.
“Soon, just giving her some time, and I’m not sharing. Maybe her food definitely not her.” he said warning his player friend. Kunle chuckled at his defensive stance, Dan was head over heels in love with the woman. He couldn’t blame him, Sophia was the best he had seen so far, gentle, caring, hardworking and d–n sexy. He wished he had her to himself but his bro could have her instead, the guy should settle down abeg.
“Okay but I don’t mind marrying her, if you guys don’t work out.” Kunle teased. Dan bristled and eyed him,he his eyes ablaze.
“I already warned you.” he said.
“But Sophia deserves someone who would marry her, cherish her and of course stick with her to the end. I quote her.” he said, as he paced around in the apartment. He leaned on the wall as he watched Dat’s reactions.
“You said that you aren’t ready to be tied down into marriage yet.” Kunle goaded him, Dan was already flustered. He was swearing to himself.
“Darn, I just discovered something right. I hit a soft spot didn’t I? You thought she’d be for the live in girlfriend, she comes from a prestigious home Dan and she has her pride. So what do you actually want from her?” Kunle said, as he walked back to his room without a second glance.
All the events of the month weaved its way into Dan’s memory, he was practically eating out of her hands, he had consulted her during his financial investment and shares meeting and she had been an awesome help. Now he could point out two or three cash cow investment he had without even going to the studio.
She was well not so perfect either too, she had a flaring temper and she hadn’t yet recognized her self worth but she had a good heart and she tried to protect it. He wouldn’t blame her, he would protect his own heart from himself, if he were in her shoes.
His driver came in, at that moment and Dan had to go with him.

“Yea! You’re here.” Sophia hugged him, he looked so handsome and he had cut his hair again. She grew jealous as her short hair refused to sprout an inch, but his giving two weeks could compete for the fullest afro.
“Yea! Look at me.” he said, mimicking her, as they both laughed, they were at the red carpet alongside many celebrities and stars. The BET awards had decided to host a small show here in Lagos Nigeria. And Sophia was nominated for influential black fashion entertainer of the year.
She wore her design, it was a long sleeve silver and blue, backless dress made out of aso oke and Ankara. She wore a matching choker and made her hair into dyed corn rows with cowries attached at the end. She also wore a pair of dyed blue cowrie earrings.
“You look gorgeous.” he said, as he held her hand, Sophia blushed and looked away before she adjusted his blue Ankara bowtie and matching waistcoat.
“So who is on the media’s focus?” he asked as they tried to sneak past Denrele Edun, who was the host talking vividly.
“Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva.” she said, as cameras started flashing at them, she quickly smiled and waved as Denrele the eccentric one, as she used to call him walked over to them.
“Aww, so sorry about us not getting away.”Dan said, smiling broadly at the weird man.
“You guys think you can escape abi? Anyway good to see the both of you together, man you have an impeccable taste.” he commented slyly.
Dan gave a full on grin, Sophia tried to cover her face with the feather fan she held.
“Look at you, Sophie you look ravishing, one of your designs right?” he concluded as more cameras continued flashing, more lights.
“Right.” she bit her lips from giggling.
“Okay, Dan now tell me what I’m seeing here, cause right now, you guys are just making me curious. Why on earth would you steal my girl?” Denrele said, as he hugged Sophia.
Dan shook his head and smirked, before pulling her back to him.
“I won’t say anything yet though. So how’s the night?” he asked as more newscasters rallied around them.
“Fine, I really think that this had better head to the altar, don’t you think so too, Sophia?” he asked, Sophia gave him a playful glare and looked up at Dan smiling down at her.
Sophia walked down the carpet greeting both national and international stars, Gina was there with Matthew, they hugged and joked, Dan also had a nice chat with Matthew and she saw the knowing wink he sent her.
They were approaching the host and hostess, Kanye and Kim K wondering how they got that part despite Kim’s expressed dislike for Nigeria was one thing Sophia would be doing.
Dan held her tightly, because of the look of appraisal she received from the both of them.
“Did you get them?” Kim asked.
“No, mine are natural, I was born with it.” she said smiling a little, her intense dislike was almost obvious, but Kim didn’t notice.
“Really, cause they really blend into you.” Kanye said, Dan almost drew her back from his hungry gaze.
“Thanks, but we have to go now, shouldn’t we darling?” Dan said possessively, as he held her arm and they left the power couple to greet other guests.
“God, did you see how they watched us, bet Kanye is going to rap about it in his new song, that guy can rant.” Sophia whispered as they walked into the hall.
They greeted so many stars from South Africa, Algeria, Mozambique, sierra Leone, Cameroun, Ghana, Ethiopia, every of the 54 African country entertainers were present.
They were ushered to their seats, and after some minutes the show began, performances at every stop and turn and Sophia was already exhausted before her award nomination, but she had won and Dan kissed her when she got back to her seat, and photographers were everywhere on them.
She managed to make it home in one piece after Dan elicited a promise to see him the next day she was just too tired to hear him out.
