Episode 3
“This is all Michael’s fault” one of the cousins Said. “I told him we shouldn’t Try ace of spade. I knew it was kind of local”.
“Come on, guys. Let’s get out of here” Mico said as he grabbed his phones from the table and started walking out with his brothers.
Oh, no. This is not happening.
“Sir Mico, please…”
“Sir Mico we can explain…”
“Please don’t go…”
All the waitresses ran after them, pleading. But the guards at the door wouldn’t let them get close enough again.
Mia walked back to me and slapped me.
What?
“You’re nothing but a hapless pillock. Look at the disaster you’ve caused.” She said angrily and walked away.
I remained kneeling on the floor, not knowing what to do. I was so heartbroken. What ws I even thinking?
I finally left the room and headed for the kitchen and before I got to the kitchen; Mr Franco came out and met me.
He looked furious.
“Alyssa, what’s this fuss all about?” He yelled at me. “How could you be so careless around Mr Mico? Today’s meant to be my luckiest day, but you ruined it. It’s a good thing he agreed to pay for the food and drinks already ordered by people. Else, what would I have done?”
His voice was coming out hard and he took the tray from me.
“Get out of my building. I don’t want to find you here in the next two minutes” he said icily and turned around.
No, no, no.
“Sir…”
“You’re fired!” He cut me off and walked away.
“Oh, my! Tell me this is a dream. This is not happening. It’s all a nightmare.
The tears fell freely from my eyes and I saw Kate walking out of the kitchen to meet me.
“Kate get back here!” Mr Franco called from behind and she went back in.
Am I cursed or something? Why is all these happening to me?
What will I do?
I slowly turned around and started walking out of the building.
I car believe I had lost my job. I’m doomed.
I kept crying on the way home. I remembered his hurtful words to me:
“Are you this clumsy?”
Why will he say that? It pierced my heart.
I recalled how hw had walked out on me.
I feel so stupid.
I should’ve been more careful with the drink.
Now Mico hates me. Even when he doesn’t know me.
Oh, Alyssa!
More tears….
I got home and knocked weakly on the door and it was Jake who opened up.
He looked at me with surprise.
“Alyssa, what’re you doing here?” He asked but I walked past him into the house and there I met mum and Maja in the sitting room.
“Sister!” Maja called and ran to embrace me.
“Whyre you back so soon? I thought you were on the night shift?” Mother asked while pressing some clothes, but I was too feebled to give her a reply.
I started walking into my room.
“Alyssa!” She called harshly.
“I got fired” I replied casually without turning back to look at her.
I got into my room and fell on my bed, still crying.
My whole world was shattered.
Alyssa! Alyssa! Alyssa!
I heard my mum’s voice from the door:
“Alyssa, what do you mean you were fired? Is that a break or something? Hope you know we’re not shooting a movie”.
I remained still on the bed and heard as she left.
Then I took my diary and wrote on it:
‘Mark 21st
Nothing much to say
Worst day of my life’.
I dropped the diary and pen back on the table and led on the bed to sleep.
I lost Mico and I lost my job.
What else do I have?

Mico
I removed my sleeping shade from my eyes and the first sight I caught ws the reflection of the sun glinting on my windows.
I ws lying sideways and I noticed a hand holding me from behind. I turned and saw my mum lying beside me, fast asleep. Don’t tell me she slept in my room again.
I stared at her and smiled. Pretty young woman. So beautiful, even in her sleep.
I kissed her forehead and that was when she woke up, first with yawn.
“Oh, sweetheart. You’re awake” She said dizily and sat up.
“Good morning, mum” I greeted.
“Morning, love. Howre you feeling?”
She touched my neck and touched other parts of my body.
I ws trying to say something when a maid spoke calmly from outside:
“Ma’am Virigilio, the doctor’s here”.
Doctor? Who’s sick?
“Okay. Let him in” Mum replied and the door opened with Dr Edwin coming in.
I was surprised. ”
“Good morning doctor” Mum greeted as she stood up and gave him a handshake.
He was our family doctor.
“Good morning, ma’am Virigilio. Hope your night was splendid?” He replied and asked.
No matter how friendly he seemed, he always sounded strict.
“Of course. Thank you”.
“Good. So, what’s wrong with him?” He asked as he walked up to me and started straining my eyes open.
What’s going on?
“I…I don’t really know. When I came in late in the night to check up on him, I noticed his body ws kind of warm. So, I thought maybe he needed a check up or something” Mum replied, taking me abacked.
“Mum hold on; what’s going on here? Are you kidding me? There’s nothing wrong with me. So why did you call for a doctor?” I asked with my palms open.
“But your body ws a bit hot…”
“Mum, it was the weather. Come on”.
The doctor brought out a stethoscope and placed the whatever on my chest.
This woman will not kill me.
“There’s nothing seriously wrong with him. But ill still prescribe some drugs for him” The doctor said as he brought out a pen and paper.
I rolled my eyes and left the bed walking into the bathroom.
Oh, mother.
Does she ever think of anything else? How could she panick over my body temperature being a bit high? Hilarious.
I brushed my teeth and washed my fave and by the time I got back to the room, my mum was not there, neither was the doctor. Perfect.
I went to my jewelries table just in front of the mirror and there I took a gold chain and wore it round my neck.
And then I took a blue head band and banded my hair with it.
Hmm. Sweet me.
I left the room and headed for the dining for breakfast and three I met my sisters and cousins, having little arguments as usual.
We argue that lot.
I have three troublesome sisters – Karen, Octavia and Olivia – and their ages are 23, 22 and 22.
Ha – ha. Funny, right?
Well, Karen is the eldest and Octavia and Olivia are twins and I’m the last and the dearest.
My cousin brothers – Angelo and Michael have been staying with us for sometime and they also attend Mico High School together with us.
“Hey, baby brother of the house” Olivia called immediately she saw me and I removed one of my rings and threw it at her.
“I’ve warned you to stop calling me that” I said with a frown as I sat next to Angelo and Michael.
Karen, Octavia and Olivia sat together as well and they were facing us.
“Mico How’re you feeling?” Karen asked, still fixing her eyes on her android phone that she’s been operating.
“Heard Dr Edwin came to check on you” Octavia added, peeping into Karen’s phone.
“Never mind. Mum was just being over reactive” I replied.
“You forgot our plans last night, Mico” Michael said.
“I told you didn’t I?” Angelo also added and I sighed.
“Sorry, I was too tired”.
Karen, Octavia and Olivia looked at us and asked at the same time:
“What plan?”
I stared at Angelo and Michael and busted into laughter with them.
“Whatever” Karen said and took her eyes back to her phone.
She was sitting in between Olivia and Octavia and they kept staring into her phone number well.
