My heart sank when I saw James having fun with Nkechi. I stopped dead in my tracks staring at them in grief but they didn’t see me.
I was subjected to perplexity because one of my neighbours then, told me that Nkechi left abroad with her boyfriend but I saw her that day.
“So, Mr Okonkwo lied to me,” I said to myself.
“What is it? ” Rita asked when she noticed a bizarre look on my visage.
“No, nothing!” I replied.
“Are you sure?” She asked again.
“Yes dear,” I returned as we headed out of the eatery.
I kept looking back at the eatery till I entered the car. Rita kept asking questions about my sudden change of countenance and behaviour but I told her that nothing was wrong.
“Didn’t you see James enjoying with his girlfriend at the eatery? ” Rita asked immediately we got home.
“Yes, I saw them” I replied like a man who have been welled down by some mental burden.
“Mezuo, what’s happening? tell me,” She uttered with her face full of worries and curiosity.
“That her girlfriend, is my wife” I uttered with tears streaming down my face.
Instantly, Rita hugged me passionately and started comforting me.
“I will be a shoulder you can lay on, I will be your strength, your motivation and your faithful adviser,” she said as she kssed me on the lips and ran out immediately with her face full of smiles.
I was astonished and my face that was full of tears was now smiling broadly. I had noticed earlier that Rita was interested in me but I didn’t want to ask her out because of rejection –I might get rejected.

An hour later, I was still in shock at what Rita had just displayed. My heart was pounding, really pounding.
“Hello handsome, food is ready,” she said when she placed two plates of food on the dining table.
I was on top of the world and I didn’t stop chuckling. It was indeed a memorable day for me because Rita fed me to my satisfaction –we really blew away cobwebs.
We also share stories and experiences.
She said that she suffered sxual moIe$tation at the hands of her uncle when she was a juvenile.
Her late mother birthed her out of wedlock and left her with her grandmother and ran away.
“My grandma suffered to train me from childhood till when I turned 12 but unfortunately, she díed and my Uncle took me under his roof and moIested me sxually,” she said in her words.
I felt pity for her but she said that I shouldn’t bother myself that it is a bygone.
“No! Stop, it’s a thing of the past. We’re looking forward to what the future will turn out for us” She said as we continued eating.
We were in full swing till dawn feeling that the world was our oyster.

At 7:00 am, I left for work, as usual looking shiny and grinding as a Cheshire cat. Rita was still on the bed when I left.
Two hours later, I was cleaning the security house when I received a call from James that my assistance was needed in his office.
I hesitated before dragging my feet to his office.
When I got there, I heard some sounds and I knocked on the door.
“Come in,” James said with a cool voice.
I opened the door and behold, I saw James ¢aressing Nkechi wholly. She saw me wearing a Gateman’s outfit and burst into laughter.
I left shortly without listening to James’s Statement.
