“So what do you say, are you coming?” Samuel asked.
Attending a party on my first week of school and stressing out my already stressed body and mind.
“No, I’d rather stay home” I replied.
“Oh…” Samuel wore a frown.
“Why do you want me to come so badly” I smirked.
“I don’t know… I just.. I don’t know” he shrugged.
“Well just tell me how the party went on Monday, and I’ll be all ears listening.” I flashed him a smile.
“The party venue is pretty close to your hostel” Samuel stated.
“still not going”. I shook my head.
“I know” he shrugged
Samuel and I said our goodbyes and getting home Tochi has already prepared dinner. How lovely.
I ate this my stomach as as full as ever, it made me so heavy that I fell asleep.

I woke up to the sound of absolute quietness, The room was empty, it didn’t really feel like just the room, it felt like the whole building was empty. The little noises and talks that I would be hearing before was not be heard.
Wait. Did everyone went to the so called party like Tochi said.
Wow.
I checked the time and it was 9:30pm. I decided to go take a bath and the bath made me feel relieved. I was feeling super energetic that night and since I was alone, I decided to read and study more.
I wasn’t sleepy, wasn’t hungry and it made me focus even more on my reading, I was wrapped up in my blanket and at the corner of my bed enjoying the quietness and the cold breezing escaping from the ceiling fan above my head.
Now this is why I would definitely want to live alone. This is life.
The reading was really getting into my head, and I just kept going until an hour passed.

I was so engulf with my reading I didn’t put it into my head that I was hearing a knock.
At the middle of the night? It’s ten pm already, and Tochi isn’t here, everyone’s at the party, who could it be?
I unwrapped my blanket around my body and walked down from the bed.
I got to the door and after breathing in and out, I slowly opened the door and peeked from the side.
Samuel??
I opened the door wide and he smiled.
“HI” he said.
“Samuel? What are you doing here?” I asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be at the party?”
I eyed him from head to toe, he’s dressed like he’s going to a party. He was looking fine.
“I was at the party, but then become bored” he expound.
“And then you came here?” I scoffed.
“Can you let me in, I’m feeling a little woozy now” he said and I opened the door wider and let him in.
He scanned the room.
“You can sit on my bed.” I said pointing to the black and purple bed. The room has no chairs and it will be rude of me to let him sit on Tochi’s when mine is available.
Samuel took off his shoes and took off his wrist watch.
“You became bored at the party and came here?” I asked again sitting on the bed.
“Yes, like I said the venue was close to your hostel, so I decided to stop by before going home, and also the guys were forcing me to drink!” Samuel said.
“And?” I asked.
“And I said no!” he smiled.
“You did? Really? You said no, okay that’s good news and what they did they reply?” I asked.
“they didn’t care and forced me anyways, I had decided leave after drinking half a cup and when boredom swept in, I came here.” Samuel explained.
“And what makes you think here will be less boring. Its just me alone in the entire building, I think a party full of people is ten times more Better than here” I stated.
“No” Samuel shook his head. “I enjoy my alone time, I rather be locked up in my room all day all alone than go to a party filled more than a hundred people”.
“Your life is pretty simple and sweet” I said.
“Thank you” Samuel nodded.
“So what are you reading?” he asked grabbing my text books. “Oh, you’re already reading ahead” he said seeing the bold written topic I was reading.
He tried to look at the writings but narrowed his eyes at them.
“You’re not with your glasses, don’t hurt your eyes.” I said taking the book from him.
“So I wanted to ask how was the party, but remembered you said it was boring” I stated and Samuel nodded.
“So who was the host anyways?” I asked.
“I don’t know, I think some random seniors who felt like they need to waste money on throwing a party just to check out the freshman girls” Samuel explained with the most serious face ever and I burst out laughing.
“You observed that with a small time spent at the party?” I still couldn’t stop laughing.
“Yes, it seemed that way to me, cause they were being sneaky going around and flirting with different girls and then I noticed Cynthia would be next, I told her but she didn’t care, she wanted them to flirt with her” Samuel scoffed. You could tell he was pained by his last sentence.
“And you? You had a chance too i bet it. Why didn’t you flirt with anyone?” I asked with a bit of ornery.
“I don’t know how to flirt” he smiled.
“All guys are snakes. Of course you can” I laughed.
If all guys are snakes then Samuel is definitely different and is a panda.
“Snakes?” Samuel looked at me his smile was wide.
“Yes, I haven’t seen one guy who isn’t good when it comes to flirting, they keep throwing off lewd eyes at the girl, telling her lies and cooking it up as a compliment” I explained and Samuel laughed, a very loud laugh that caused him to raise his head up.
“I guess a lot of guys must have flirted with you” Samuel stated.
“a lot is an understatement…”
“So they’re more than a lot?” Samuel widen his eyes and I nodded.
“Wow” he said.
“Maybe if you man up and buckle up you could learn how to flirt too someday, you’re good looking, so you might have a fifty percent chance of getting the girl swayed even if you say rubbish” I expound and Samuel shut his eyes and chuckled.
I smiled.
“Even if I say rubbish?” he repeated.
“Yes” I shrugged.
He turned to me and hesitantly he asked.
“Have you flirt with a guy before? Do girls flirt with guys? Or is it just a guy thing?” Samuel asked.
How is he so innocent!.
“Girls flirt too, and they’re like the worst, they’re serpents when it comes to flirting, and guys just fall right under their trap like a case of hypnosis” I said snapping my fingers.
“Whoa” Samuel shook his head. “so you’re saying when guys try to tame girl, they’re hard to tame but when girls try to tame guys they’re just successful with a snap from their fingers?” Samuel’s curious asked.
“Well the word tame is an overstatement, but yeah, that’s how it goes and that’s why I said guys are snakes but girls are serpents. They’re like ahead of the guys and they just tame and take the guy, though some girls are bad at flirting but still tame the guys”. I explained.
“Maybe I’m already intoxicated by the little drink I had, cause all this sounds funny and new to me” Samuel laughed.
“A little drink can also do a lot of damage, but you’re not drunk, and you were supposed to know this before, so this basically means you’ve never flirted with a girl before?”
“Not even planning to” Samuel added.
“How loyal” I laughed. He’s so cheesy and he doesn’t know it.
“What If you like a girl and you want that girl, and for example you see her across the room in a party and she can only fall in love with you back if you flirt with her, is that how you’re going to miss your chance?” I asked.
“That is a very strange and weird what if.” Samuel huffed.
“Yeah, but I’m just saying!” I shrugged.

“So how do girls flirt with guys?” Samuel asked.
“Oh you know, girls are different, the normal ones just compliment the guy ask him for his name, give him signs that she’s really into him, and then there are the ones who acts cute, like there was one pretending to be drunk and clumsy and the guy totally fell for it, and there are the crazy ones who just meets the guy and kss him, believe me cause I’ve seen one” I explained.
“Whoa” Samuel said. His curious eyes wide open and staring at the floor.
“So… So… Which one are you?” Samuel asked and I laughed.
“I’m definitely the normal ones” I replied.
“So that means you’ve flirt with a guy you like once right?” he asked.
“Well technically, I just flirt because it’s fun not because I like them and I don’t know… I think it’s because we know of the woman supremacy we have over guys and its just fun to fl1rt” I smiled.
“That is cruel and not all guys fall for it you know” Samuel looked at me.
“All guys fall for it, and I mean all” I rolled my eyes.
“Not all, and not me, I don’t think I can ever fall for one of them, one of you” Samuel shook his head.
“You don’t say” I laughed. “As long as you’re a male you fall for it. Want to give it a try?” I smirked.
“A try?” Samuel was confused.
“I flirt with you right here, right now and you don’t fall for it, then I’ll believe you’re different.” I rushed my words and his jaw dropped.
“No.” he suddenly shook his head.
I laughed. “Are you scared?”.
“I’m not scared, I’m just being…
“You’re just being what?”
“Cautious” he replied.
“Cautious, I’m not a serial killer, I’m just Bridget trying to show you how you’re not any different” I said.
“Okay fine.” Samuel nodded.
“Okay? You’re sure?” I have him a look.
“I am” he stated.
“Okay now pretend we’re both strangers” I said.
“Okay…” Samuel replied and i scoot closer to him on the bed.
I pulled my knot less braids to my left side of my shoulder and placed my hand on his shoulder.
“HI there” I smiled, “Now just play cool and act like you don’t know me before”. I stated and Samuel nodded and turned to me.
“Uh… Hi?” Samuel replied plainly and clueless that I almost laughed out of embarrassed. He is so…
I continued in the coolest polite voice ever.
“I noticed from over there that you’ve been alone for a while you don’t mind me joining you do you?” I gave a small smile.
“No I don’t” Samuel’s expression was blank. I wanted to give up. Maybe flirting with him won’t work cause he seemed inexperienced maybe I should just leave him that way.
Or maybe I should go further.
“And who do look very charming tonight, can I have your name?” I asked with a smile holding his gaze.
“It’s… Its Samuel” he stuttered.
Wait is it working?.
“Samuel? A fine name for a very good looking man” I said.
He tried to look away but my hands slid across his face and turned his head to my direction.
“Don’t look away” I warned.
“Uh… I feel uncomfortable doing this” Samuel laughed.
“Uncomfortable means it’s working” I crossed my hand over my chest.
“It’s not” Samuel shook his head.
“It is”.
“It’s not”
“Should I go deeper then?” I asked.
