Episode 20

Clara’s POV?

“He left?” The tears in my eyes just stalled. But the pain in my heart is deepening every passing second.

“Yes, Dear.” Mom answers holding my hand. She is sitting beside me for an hour now.

“I don’t want to ask why you didn’t tell me, because I know. But, I am still angry at you.” I feel betrayed!

“I know. I am sorry, Sweetie.”

“We wanted to tell you many times.” Micheal says who is standing on the other side of the bed.

I look away. “Hey, you know we love you.” I look back at him.

“I know.” My voice is barely a whisper. But that doesn’t change the fact that they hid the truth from me.

“How can he just…” I don’t even know what to say.

Dalton left! He can’t just end things like this! He can’t!

He can’t just break up! Not like this! There is so much between us!

So much more than love! He knows that too! He just… left!

Tears start gathering in my eyes. I am so angry with him. So angry!

“He never left you, you know.” Mom says. I look at her not understanding what she is saying.

“He looked torn when he saw you at the hospital after accident.

He passed out after donating his blood for you.”

“What? He gave his blood for me?” I never knew we had the same blood group.

“Yes.” He eyes are filled with tears now. “He made sure that you got the best treatment.”

My heart weavers. My Dalton! Then I remember how he left and why he left. My Idiot Dalton

“He used to call me every week to know about you.

He used to call the doctor about your reports. He took care of you more than I did.

He is the one who sent the flowers to you every Sunday.”

I know about the flowers. But I didn’t know he did all this.

How can any harm come to me when he is taking care of me like this?

And he thinks he is the danger to me? He is my Saviour!

“It’s better to say he was there for you every second.” Micheal says smiling.

He was!

“He took over the company, when he heard about your boss harassing you.”

“How did he know that?”

“One day you came home crying about it while I was on the phone with Dalton.”

Oh Dalton! He took care of me every day from then.

“He never left, Clara.”

“But it feels like he is really leaving this time, Mom. He broke up with me.”

“What?!” her face is covered in shock.

Tears are now falling down freely again. They wouldn’t stop.

“How can he leave now mom? After everything that we have been through?

How can he?” She pulls me into a hug. I don’t hold back. I start sobbing.

“It’s okay. Let it out.” She runs her hand down my hair consoling me.

“He shouldn’t have done that.” Micheal says from beside me.

“I can’t imagine my life without him. I love him, Mom.”

I sob harder. With all the memories back and after all the things he has done, my love only intensified.

There are more memories now. “Please tell him not to go.

Please!” I hug her tighter. “Please tell him to come back! I love him!”

“I can’t watch this! I am going to bring him back!” Micheal says angrily.

“No, Micheal!” Mom stops him. “I am angry with him too.

But it’s his choice. We can’t make a choice for them.

He did everything he can to save her and protect her.”

Her words struck a thought in my mind. He did everything he can!

He even left me and now he is doing it again. I know he loves me.

He loves me so much that he is ready to leave me! But I can’t let him do that!

“If he can leave me because he loves me, I can fight for him because I love him.”

The words leave my mouth without even my knowledge.

Mom and Micheal look at me with confusion in their eyes.

“I will fight for him this time, Mom. I won’t let him leave, not like this.”

“But, Swee-” Mom stops when my phone rings. She gives it to me.

I look at the caller ID. It’s William. I frown. Why is he calling now? Picking up the call, I put the phone near my ear.

“Hi!”

“Hey, how are you?” I can hear the concern in his voice, but he seems tensed.

“I am good. Is everything alright?”

“No.” He pauses for a second before speaking. “Dalton will be leaving the city in a week.”

“What?!” He is leaving?! In a week?!

Yes. He asked me to prepare a schedule for him to settle things here.”

“But… I… Why?” He can’t! He can’t leave! I will kill him!

“I just thought you should know. Get well soon, clara.”

“Thank you.” I cut the call and just process everything that’s happening and how everything has changed.

I can’t believe this! It wasn’t supposed to be like this!

How did getting my memories back change everything?!

It was all supposed to go well! I was angry at him for not telling me the truth.

Yes! We are supposed to fight about it and patch up! But this?! He is really leaving?!

No! NO! Dalton!

“Clara, are you alright?” Mom’s voice brings me back.

“Huh? Am I alright? What do you think, Mom? I woke to… all this!

I am not alright. I am not! My boyfriend broke up with me and he is leaving the city now!”

“What?!”

“Yes! Dalton is leaving in a week. In a week! That idiot!” I can’t control my emotions anymore.

Taking my phone, I call Dalton’s number. The MD number. MD. My Dalton! He doesn’t pick up. He never did that before.

“How can he do this, Mom?”

“He is so stubborn on leaving this time, isn’t he?” She says and I look at her.

She is right. But she looks angry. Angry at him maybe.

“Well, if he is so stubborn on leaving me, I am stubborn about getting him back.”

Mom looks at me, not understanding what I am saying. “What?” Micheal asks.

“I am going to get him back.”

“Clara-”

“Please Mom. The doctor said that I can be discharged today evening.

I only have week. I will make him see that he is wrong.” I look at her with determination. She gives me a smile.

“That’s my girl now Give him a kick in the ass if needed. I got your back.” She says hugging me.

“Thank you, Mom!” Giving her a hug back, I pull away.

“He is a part of me! I can’t let him go away that easily! I want him! I will get him back!”

“We will help you if you want, Sis.” Micheal hugs me too.

“I am so happy that you got your memories back!”

Mom says giving me a big smile. “Oh family hug time!”

She hugs me too and I let out a smile. I have a week to get him back!

I will get you back, Dalton!!!

God, why do Dalton have to be like this, right?! Well,
