A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 221 – 230

THE CALM AFTER THE STORM 1

LUCIFER FROWN.

The air between us felt charged, filled with unspoken fears and complexities I had yet to fully grasp. As Selene and I stood in the dim light of the forest, surrounded by the echoes of our recent escape, I knew we needed to address the elephant in the room.

“Selene,” I began, my voice steady despite the turmoil within me, “we need to think about this. It’s the only way to ensure your safety.”

The moment the words left my mouth, I watched her step back, her body tensing as if I had struck her. “killing my child?” she repeated, her voice incredulous. “i will never permit that”

“selene, this is for your own good” I replied, trying to keep my tone calm. “you can’t keep it, no chance I will allow you to do so!”

Her eyes flashed with defiance, and I could see the defensive walls rising around her. “I’m not running away, Lucifer. I refuse to be scared of my own child” tears drop from her tears ” this is our child, we made this… It came from our love”

I felt a pang of frustration, but I quickly suppressed it. Arguing wouldn’t help now; it would only push her further away.

Instead, I took a step closer, reaching for her hands. “Please, Selene. I’m not suggesting this lightly. I’m trying to protect you.” I mumble ” this child will take my love from me, it will take you from me!!! I can’t live with that knowledge”

” We will find a way ” she smile ” I promise, I won’t die ”

” Selene”

” Lucifer please, give me time ” looking at her pleading eyes, I nod my head, knowing fully well that I will have to make this decision on my own.

I grasped her hands firmly, I focused my energy, and in an instant, the forest around us shimmered and faded. We reappeared in the familiar confines of my mansion, the calm and quiet enveloping us like a warm embrace.

Selene blinked, momentarily disoriented as she looked around. “What just happened?”

“I brought us back here,” I said, still holding her hands. “I thought it would be safer.”

She looked at me, a mixture of relief and calmness “thank you”

releasing her hands, I take a step back to give her space. “you need rest more than anything, you should go upstairs and shower”

Selene hesitated, her brow furrowing. “And what about you? Are you just going to stand here, am sure you’re also tired”

” Am Lucifer, Selene… The devil doesn’t get tired”

” But”

“I’ll be right here waiting for you,” I assured her. “We can discuss everything after you’ve had a moment to collect yourself. You need to be strong for what’s to come, and I can’t help you if you’re exhausted.”

She took a deep breath, her expression softening slightly. “You’re right. I do need to rest.”

“Good. Go. I’ll handle things here.” I gestured toward her chambers, hoping she would see the wisdom in my suggestion.

Finally, she nodded, moving toward her room. I watched her walk away, the tension in her shoulders slowly easing as she disappeared behind the door. The moment it closed, I felt the weight of the world settle back onto my shoulders.

I turned and made my way to the kitchen, the quiet of the mansion a stark contrast to the chaos of the night. As I entered, I found Mirabel busying herself, her movements precise and efficient, as always.

“ Lucifer,” she said, glancing up from her tasks. “you’re back”

“Mirabel” I said, my voice low but urgent.

She straightened, concern etched on her face. “What is it?”

“I need you to prepare a cup of hot tea for Selene,” I instructed, pausing to gather my thoughts. “Make it strong—enough, enough to kill a child.”

“lucifer, are you sure?” she asked, already moving to gather the ingredients.

“i need it strong enough to kill a demon.”
