THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 101 – 110

BY KATHY D.

(DANGEROUS YET….FEELS GOOD)

The bright sun streaming through the window was what finally woke Maledicta up, her groggy mind slowly coming back online.

She groaned, her head pounding with a dull ache, and looked around in confusion. She couldn’t understand what was wrong or how she had gotten there.

“You’re awake,” a voice said behind her, and she turned to see her mother, Mistress Morwen, standing in the doorway with a look of relief on her face.

Maledicta rubbed her temples, trying to clear the fog from her mind. “What happened?” she asked, her voice hoarse from sleep.

Mistress Morwen walked over to her daughter’s bedside and sat down beside her. “I wanted to ask that too,” she said. “We found you and Kaiden unconscious on the ground in the forest.

There was a great storm, and Belladonna said you weren’t in your room, so we searched for you and found you both late at night. What’s wrong, Maledicta?” She asked.

Maledicta shook her head, trying to remember. “I don’t know too,” she said. “I was with Kaiden in the forest, but then something happened. I can’t even remember it.” She muttered.

Mistress Morwen’s expression turned concerned. “It’s strange,” she said. “I felt really scared for some unknown reason. Are you sure you didn’t see anything strange?” She asked.

Maledicta thought hard, but her mind was a complete blank. “I didn’t,” she said. “Where’s Kaiden?”

“He’s resting,” she said. “Maybe you were both affected by the great storm. He could take longer to wake up. I think he’s in a vegetative state.” He said.

Maledicta’s heart sank, and she felt a wave of guilt wash over her. “That’s my fault,” she said sadly. “I should have stayed away from him.”

Mistress Morwen put a comforting hand on her daughter’s shoulder. “Stop saying that,” she said. “It just happened, not like you knew it would.”

Maledicta didn’t say anything, lost in her own thoughts as she tried to remember what had happened the night before.

Mistress Morwen stood up, her eyes filled with concern. “You should rest now,” she said. “I’ll come back later.”

Maledicta nodded, still deep in thought. As soon as her mother left, she sat down on her bed, her mind racing with questions. What had happened the night before? Why couldn’t she remember?

Suddenly, she had a quick flashback of a tornado surrounding her, and her head began to pound with a severe headache. She grabbed her head in pain, feeling like her brain was going to explode.

“Don’t try to recall,” a voice in her head said. “It will come to you at the right time.”

Maledicta’s eyes widened in surprise. It had been a long time since the voice in her head had spoken to her.

“You should see him,” the voice said again.

Maledicta smiled, She vanished out of the room, reappearing in Kaiden’s room. Her heart sank as she saw his pale face, but she was relieved to see that he didn’t have any visible wounds.

“He will be okay,” she assured herself, her voice barely above a whisper.

She grabbed his arm, feeling a sense of comfort as she touched him. She kissed his forehead, her lips gentle against his skin. Then, she laid her head on his chest, listening to his gentle heartbeat.

Benedicta’s eyes sprang open, and she could feel a searing pain in her arm. She looked down to see a little creature biting at her arm, its tiny teeth sunk deep into her skin. Her eyes turned red with rage, and she grabbed the creature, strangling it until it turned to dust.

She stood up, brushing off her clothes, and that’s when she noticed she was lying on the ground. She remembered hitting her head the night before and realized she must have passed out. She knew once again that her plan had failed, and that made her really angry.

But the anger disappeared when she remembered the previous night. Kaiden had been acting strangely, and she could swear he had used some kind of superpower. She was confused and decided to visit the queen to see if she had any information.
