A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 111 – 120
When the large doors opened, the room was empty except for Lucifer seated at the head of the table, a feast spread before him. He looked up as I entered, his gaze as steady and unreadable as ever, like he had already anticipated everything that had happened, everything I was thinking.
I approached the table slowly, my heart racing, feeling like I was walking into a lion’s den. He tap his leg, indicating for me to sit on them but I ignored.
Lucifer watched me as I took my seat across from him, gesturing to the food as if we were merely here for a casual meal.
“Eat, Selene,” he said, his tone gentle but firm. “You must be starving.”
I looked down at the plate in front of me, but the idea of eating felt almost nauseating. I was drowning in emotions—anger, fear, sorrow—and the last thing I wanted was to pretend that everything was normal.
He must have sensed my hesitation, because he leaned back, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly. “You went through a lot today.
I understand,” he said softly. “But strength isn’t just about survival. It’s about resilience, Selene. You can’t afford to let one loss, no matter how painful, unravel you.”
Anger flared inside me. “You have no idea what I’ve been through,” I shot back, my voice laced with bitterness. “Liam… he was my friend. He didn’t deserve what happened to him.”
Lucifer watched me, unfazed. “No, he didn’t,” he said quietly. “But he made a choice, and choices have consequences. Your friend knew what he was getting into.”
His words stung, their harshness sinking deep. I clenched my fists, trying to control the surge of anger and confusion.
“Eat,” he urged again, breaking me out of my thoughts. “You’ll need your strength for what comes next.”
I looked down at my plate, the aroma wafting up to me. Reluctantly, I took a bite, the food strangely comforting, grounding me in a way I hadn’t expected.
As I ate in silence, Lucifer watched me, his gaze unrelenting, as if he could see through every layer of my soul.
And in that moment, I knew that whatever lay ahead, I would have to face it head-on—whether or not I was ready.

LUCIFER SMILE.
As I leaned back in my chair, my gaze remained fixed on Selene, studying every expression that crossed her face as she ate. She must have been starving, the way she devoured her food in silence.
Not once did she glance up, not even when I swirled the glass of wine between my fingers, watching the dark liquid shift like blood.
And she didn’t sit on my lap. A quiet smile tugged at the corner of my lips at her rebellion, her cold determination. She was angry—at me, at the world, perhaps even at herself.
I could feel it radiating off her like heat. It was intoxicating, in a way, to see the fire simmer beneath the surface, ready to break free.
But I stayed silent, savoring the tension that hung between us, refusing to eat or break the quiet, watching her. Then, finally, she put down her spoon, her hand trembling ever so slightly.
I didn’t let the faintest hint of a reaction show on my face as I watched her, only swirling the wine a moment longer before I broke the silence.
“Are you done?”
Selene looked up, and for the first time, met my gaze directly. The lack of emotion in her eyes, the hollow coldness—they sent a thrill through me. She had come a long way since she first arrived here, hadn’t she?
“I don’t want any part of the deal anymore.” Her voice was steady, though her fingers clenched, betraying the restraint in her tone. “I want to go far away from you.”
I tilted my head, a small smile dancing at the edges of my lips. “Oh?” I took my time with the word, letting it roll off my tongue with a casual curiosity. “Are you sure about that?”
“Yes,” she shot back, her tone harder. “Staying with you is… pain.”
Pain. It was such a human word, so beautifully simple. And here she was, sitting across from me, a young woman who was willing to go to the ends of the earth for the sake of a single life. It was fascinating, really.
