A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 121 – 130
I was nothing more than a shadow, a follower in his path, bound to his every command, his loyal guard. And now, I was a fool, a fool who couldn’t stop looking at the one person I wasn’t meant to want.
A grim smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. I was truly grateful that Lucifer couldn’t read minds, because if he ever knew the thoughts I’d been having… he’d kill me without hesitation.
Those dirty, traitorous thoughts—the things I imagined in quiet, lonely moments when no one could see into my mind—they would be enough to sign my death warrant. The thought of him finding out nearly sent a shiver down my spine.
But those thoughts wouldn’t go away. They crept in, sly and unbidden, each time I saw her. The desire to touch her, to feel her close, to draw her into my arms and hear her whisper my name in that soft voice… it was maddening. I kept telling myself it was wrong, that I shouldn’t feel this way, that I was playing with fire—deadly fire. But it didn’t stop me.
Each day I held these feelings back, a silent war raging inside me. I was careful, making sure no one could see the way my gaze lingered a little too long when she walked by, or the way my hands clenched into fists whenever Lucifer got close to her, his possessive hand on her shoulder. I was bound to him, loyal to a fault.
And yet, part of me seethed with a strange jealousy, knowing she belonged to him, knowing he could have her, hold her, kiss her, without a single thought of consequence.
Keeping my eyes closed, I let out a slow breath, as if exhaling her image from my mind would make this easier.
But even with my eyes shut, her face was there—imprinted on the backs of my eyelids, a memory too vivid to shake.
The warmth of her hand, the softness of her skin, her gaze holding mine just a moment longer than it should have.
Why did it have to be her? Out of all the women in the world, why was it her that haunted me this way? I’d faced countless threats, watched cities burn, but none of that had ever rattled me like this.
I was afraid—not of pain or death, but of the way she made me feel, of the power she unknowingly held over me. Because this wasn’t supposed to happen. I wasn’t supposed to want someone like this, let alone *her.*
I rather die than to express myself to her.

RELOCATION TO NEW YORK 3
LUCIFER SMILE
I watched her closely, drinking in every subtle movement, every flicker of reaction she tried to hide. My hand rested lightly on her waist, feeling her warmth beneath the thin fabric.
Her pulse fluttered, thrumming loud enough that I was certain she felt it just as intensely as I did. I smirked, knowing all too well the effect my words had on her, that even the slightest hint of closeness had her heart racing, her breathing shallow.
The way things were unfolding, it would be effortless to pull her into bed. The idea tugged at me, but things were complicated. There were matters in New York that demanded attention, situations that wouldn’t be solved with mere force or charm.
And as much as she tried to deny it, Selene’s emotions wavered between resistance and something much more… enticing.
“What are you talking about?” she stammered, glancing up at me with a mix of indignation and something else that she couldn’t quite mask. “You shouldn’t play like that with someone.”
“Who said I was playing?”
“Yes, you are!” she snapped back, starting to rise, but I simply tightened my grip on her waist, keeping her in place. Her reaction was delicious—her breath hitched, her eyes widened, and I could see the conflict in her gaze. “Let go.”
“What is this?” I leaned in slightly, letting my breath ghost over her cheek. “You don’t want to sleep with me? You hate it when I touch you?”
“I do not hate it,” she said quickly, and then frowned as if the words had slipped out against her will. Her voice grew defensive, faltering. “I mean to say, yes, I do hate it. Will you let go of me? I’d like to sit down.”
“But I do not want you sitting down,” I replied smoothly, grinning as I traced my fingers in a slow circle over her back. “You’re fine right here. Unless, of course, you’d rather be lying on me.”
Her glare was sharp, but I could see through it. “You’re ridiculous.”
“Am I?” I smirked, letting my hand trail lower, testing her reaction. She inhaled sharply, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. “You seem to love it,” I continued, fingers lingering over her hip, then sliding just slightly down. “Selene, in time, you’ll see. You’ll learn to enjoy me—completely. And soon enough, I’ll be yours, and you’ll be mine.”
She scoffed, though her voice trembled slightly. “That’s a far catch, don’t you think?”
“Not far at all,” I murmured, tightening my grip just enough that she had no choice but to remain pressed close to me. “In fact, I think it’s all I’ve been thinking of.”
