A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 131 – 140

My hands shook as I stared down at them, finding them clean, free of any trace of the nightmare I’d just experienced. I took a shuddering breath, trying to steady myself.

“Lucien… she was here,” I whispered, barely able to keep my voice steady. “There was a child… and I was bleeding, just like Liam…”

Lucien’s expression softened, though a shadow lingered in his eyes. “There was no one here, Selene. You were alone.”

I shook my head, the memory still fresh, vivid in my mind. “I saw her. I felt the blood. It was real. It had to be.”

Before I could say more, another figure appeared in the doorway, and I turned to see Lucifer standing there, his gaze sweeping over me, assessing.

Without a word, I pulled free from Lucien and hurried toward him, needing to be close to him, needing the comfort of his presence.

“Lucifer,” I breathed, gripping his arm. “There was a child here. I was bleeding, and she… she was laughing…”

His eyes softened, and he brought a finger to my lips, silencing me gently. “Shh. I’m here. You’re fine,” he murmured, pulling me into his arms.

His embrace was warm, steady, and I clung to him, finally feeling the terror ebb away as I buried my face against his chest.

For a long moment, I just stood there, letting his presence ground me, reminding me that I was safe, that whatever I’d seen hadn’t been real.

He held me close, one hand gently stroking my hair, his touch calm, reassuring. “You’re safe with me, Selene. Whatever you saw, it’s gone now.”

I closed my eyes, breathing in the faint, familiar scent of him, letting it wash away the lingering fear.

His arms wrapped tighter around me, his hand warm on my back, anchoring me. Finally, I felt the last of the terror drain away, replaced by a sense of safety, of belonging.

When I finally looked up at him, his expression was calm, but I could see the worry in his eyes. “Do you want to tell me what you saw?” he asked softly, his thumb brushing gently over my cheek.

I hesitated, the memory of the child’s face flashing in my mind, but with him here, the fear felt distant, like a bad dream already beginning to fade. “She was… a child, but not just any child.

She seemed… wrong somehow. Like she was there to hurt me.” I paused, struggling to find the right words. “And the way she looked at me… I don’t know, it felt like she knew me, like she’d been waiting for me.”

Lucifer’s gaze darkened, his hand tightening ever so slightly on my shoulder. “Whatever it was, it can’t harm you as long as I’m here.”

I nodded, letting his words soothe the last of my lingering doubts. “Thank you,” I whispered, feeling my heart calm, steady under the warmth of his gaze.

He gave me a faint smile, his fingers lingering on my cheek. “You’re safe now, Selene.” he look at Lucien before saying his last words ” with me ”

As I stood there, held securely in his arms, I realized that no matter what strange, terrifying things I saw… as long as I had him, I would be okay.
