A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 181 – 190

When I finally arrived at the sleek, modern building, I took a deep breath. The exterior was imposing, but I felt a sense of purpose as I stepped inside.

The lobby was bustling with employees, all moving with purpose, but I ignored the chatter around me and focused on finding Lucifer.

I approached the receptionist, a young woman with a bright smile. “I’m here to see Lucifer,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

“Do you have an appointment?” she asked, her smile fading slightly.

“No, but he’ll want to see me,” I replied confidently. I could feel the pulse of determination thrumming in my veins.

The receptionist hesitated but then picked up the phone to call his office. I waited, my heart racing as I thought about what I would say when I saw him.

A few moments later, she hung up and gestured for me to head to the elevator. “He’s expecting you. Just go to the top floor.”

“Thank you,” I said, stepping into the elevator. As the doors closed, I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. This was it. I was about to confront Lucifer, what if he yells at me? Tell me never to try such a thing ever again?

When the elevator dinged, I stepped out and walked down the long corridor, my heels clicking against the polished floor. I could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on me. Each step brought me closer to him, and I hoped he would be receptive.

I reached his office door and took a moment to compose myself. With a deep breath, I knocked softly. “Lucifer?” I called out, pushing the door open slightly.

He was sitting at his desk. He looked up, and for a brief moment, our eyes locked. I felt a jolt of electricity pass between us, but his expression was unreadable.

“What are you doing here, Selene?” he asked, his tone neutral but with an undercurrent of surprise.

“I brought you lunch,” I said, holding up the bag. “I thought you might like something home-cooked.”

He regarded me for a moment, his gaze piercing. I felt exposed under his scrutiny, but I stood my ground. “You didn’t have to come here,” he replied, his voice flat.

“I wanted to,” I insisted. “I thought we could have a moment together, just you and me.”

He raised an eyebrow, a flicker of interest crossing his face, but it quickly faded. “I’m busy, Selene. I can’t just drop everything for—” he paused, searching for the right words, “for this.”

I set the bag down on his desk, the sound of it landing echoing in the otherwise quiet room. “It’s just lunch, Lucifer. It doesn’t have to be complicated. I wanted to show you that I can cook.”

He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “ You have a funny way of showing it.”

I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, but I pressed on. searching for the right words. “I thought you might appreciate a little kindness.”

He stared at me, his expression hardening. “Kindness? This is you disrupting my working hours.”

I felt the sting of his words, but I refused to back down. “You’re just here to avoid me.” I pressed on ” you’re still upset with aren’t you?”

He glanced at the bag, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of interest in his eyes. “And what makes you think I’d want to eat anything you made after everything?”he ignored my question, very typical of him

“Because I put my heart into it,” I replied, my voice firm. “they say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach ”

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “You really think this will change anything?”

“It’s a start,” I said, feeling a surge of hope. “Please, just give me a chance.”

He studied me for what felt like an eternity, his dark gaze weighing my words. Finally, he uncrossed his arms and leaned forward, the tension in the room easing just a fraction. “Fine. But just for a moment.”
