A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 81 – 90
Just as I stepped out of the bathroom, the door creaked open, and there he was, standing in the doorway. “Can we talk?” we both said at the same time, and then shared a small laugh.
He led me over to the bed, sitting beside me, his face etched with worry. “Selene, you’ve been different lately. What’s going on?”
I took a deep breath. This was Liam, my best friend. I could trust him. I looked him in the eye and let the words spill out, my voice barely above a whisper at first. “There’s someone I need to tell you about. His name is Lucifer, and… he’s the guy that came the other day.”
I could see the confusion in his eyes. ” I don’t think you will get this”
“Try me,” he replied, a reassuring smile on his lips. “I think I can handle it.” Liam’s brow furrowed, confusion flickering in his eyes. “Lucifer? Like, the devil?”
I nodded slowly, watching his reaction. “Yes. But he’s… he’s different. He doesn’t seem like the devil, not in the way you’d imagine. I know it sounds ridiculous, but he’s real, Liam. And… my parents made a deal with him.”
Liam’s face softened with worry, but he didn’t interrupt. “Go on,” he said, his voice steady and patient.
I took a shaky breath, deciding to let it all out. “He came into my life after… after we visited that mansion, they kept saying things like I belong to him because of my parents deal .”
“What kind of deal?” Liam asked, his tone a careful mix of curiosity and concern.
I hesitated, choosing my words carefully. “i really have no idea” I looked away, ashamed of how little I know
“Selene…” Liam’s voice was a mix of disbelief and worry. “And you believed this?”
I nodded slowly. “I didn’t know what else to believe. I was so alone, Liam. And he’s not… he’s not exactly human. There’s something dark and strange about him. He can do things liam.”
Liam’s hands tightened into fists, and his jaw clenched. “What kind of things?”
“He seems to know things he shouldn’t. He… he can appear out of nowhere, read people in a way that’s unsettling. And there’s something about him, Liam. Something that makes you feel like you can’t escape him.” My voice was barely above a whisper. “I know it sounds crazy.”
Liam’s face softened with understanding, but there was a flicker of anger in his eyes. “Did he ever… did he ever try to hurt you, Selene?”
“No,” I said, shaking my head quickly. “He’s never laid a hand on me. But it’s his presence, Liam. It’s like he’s always there, watching, waiting. And sometimes… sometimes he makes me feel like I’m just an object to him, something he can claim whenever he pleases.”
Liam reached over, taking both my hands in his. “Selene, you’re not an object, and you don’t belong to him. You’re your own person, and nobody has the right to make you feel like that.”
“I know” I admitted, “but I can feel it. He’s powerful, dangerous. And somehow… I don’t know why, but he thinks he owns me.”
Liam’s expression turned from confusion to anger as I continued, his jaw clenching, fists tight.
Without another word, Liam pulled me into a hug, his arms wrapping around me like a fortress. I leaned into him, letting the warmth of his embrace soothe some of the tension coiled in my body. “I’ll protect you,” he murmured against my hair, his voice firm with a quiet resolve that I knew I could believe.
After a moment, he pulled back just enough to look at me, his gaze softening as he leaned in. His lips met mine, slow and tender, without any rush.
I felt my body relax into the kiss, a sense of safety washing over me that was completely unfamiliar. For once, I wasn’t questioning or second-guessing; I just let myself feel.
When we finally pulled apart, I looked at him, feeling a sudden, fierce determination. “Liam,” I whispered, barely aware of the words spilling from my mouth, “let’s have sex.”
His eyes widened, and he blinked, taken aback. “Wait—what?”
“Sleep with me,” I insisted, inching closer, hoping my voice didn’t betray how nervous I felt. “Please.”
He exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck, his face flushed. “Selene, we just started dating. Are you sure?”
“Is it that you don’t find me attractive?” I teased, trying to lighten the moment, though my voice came out more uncertain than I’d intended.
His eyes softened, and he reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair from my face. “Of course, I find you attractive,” he mumbled, his cheeks still red. “I always have.”
“Then let’s do it.” My heart was pounding, but I kept my voice steady, inching closer until I was sitting on his lap, my arms around his neck. “Make love to me.”
Liam looked at me, really looked at me, as though trying to read my intentions. I could feel his heart racing beneath my hands, his breath shallow. “Selene…” His voice was barely a whisper, his hands resting lightly on my waist. “Are you sure this is what you want?”
I nodded, trying to push down the part of me that still felt strange, conflicted. “I am. I want to be with you. To feel normal, to belong to someone… who cares.”
He swallowed, his eyes searching mine as though seeking permission. And then, slowly, he leaned in, his lips brushing mine, soft and warm.
There was no rush, no desperation, only a gentle tenderness that wrapped around me, making everything else vanish.
The kiss was everything.
