A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 91 – 100

Lucifer’s hand lifted, his fingers brushing a strand of hair from my face. His touch was gentle, almost tender, and I felt my breath catch as his hand lingered, his fingers tracing a line down to my jaw.

I wanted to pull away, to break the spell he had over me. But I couldn’t move, couldn’t look away.

His hand slid to the back of my neck, his thumb brushing softly against my skin, sending a shiver down my spine. “Then I promise, Selene,” he murmured, his gaze locked on mine. “I won’t leave you again without saying goodbye.”

Something about the way he said it made my heart ache, like he was making a promise he wasn’t sure he could keep.

But I didn’t care. For the first time in days, I felt like I could breathe again, like the weight of his absence had finally lifted.

“Good,” I managed to say, my voice barely a whisper. “Because I don’t like feeling like… like I don’t know where I stand with you.” what was I saying? Oh my God…. One will think we are dating

Lucifer’s gaze softened, and for a moment, I thought I saw a hint of something vulnerable in his eyes. But then he leaned closer, his breath warm against my skin, and every coherent thought disappeared.

“I think you know exactly where you stand, Selene,” he murmured, his voice a dark, velvety promise that made my pulse skip.

His hand tightened slightly on the back of my neck, drawing me closer until there was barely an inch of space between us.

I could feel the heat radiating from him, his scent filling my senses, and it took everything in me not to close the distance.

I was lost, caught in his gaze, his touch, the way he looked at me like I was something he couldn’t bear to let go. And for a fleeting moment, I let myself believe it.

LIAM FROWN.

I stopped, breathing in the damp, earthy air of the forest as I studied the rough ground underfoot.

For a week, I’d been buried in texts about the seven angels who fell from heaven. They were more than stories; if Lucifer was real, then the others must be as well.

The forbidden knowledge I’d uncovered hinted at their power, strength enough to rival Lucifer’s—and if I could wield it, then maybe I’d finally have what it took to tear him away from Selene and bring her back.

This was my only chance. My fingers itched with the memory of holding her, of that brief moment when she’d been in my arms, safe.

But Lucifer had taken that away, leaving me with nothing but these ancient words, dangerous whispers that warned of dire consequences and power beyond comprehension. Yet what was left for me? I’d lost her once, and I wasn’t about to lose her again.

I knelt, drawing a crude magic circle into the dirt, dragging my finger along the damp earth to complete its lines and symbols. The circle wasn’t perfect, but it would have to do.

Each mark, each stroke of my hand, I made with precision, my mind racing with the words I’d memorized. I couldn’t afford to make a mistake; the risk was too great. But this had to work.

Once I finished the circle, I pulled a small, sharp blade from my pocket. My hand didn’t shake, even as I pressed it to my palm and drew it down, letting a thin line of blood pool before dripping into the circle.

My blood soaked into the earth, mingling with the arcane symbols I’d drawn. The sacrifice—my own life force, my own essence—was the key to unlocking this forbidden power.

“If this is real,” I muttered, watching the blood spread, “then you’ll come to me.”

I closed my eyes, reciting the ancient words I’d memorized, the syllables foreign and sharp on my tongue.

Each word felt like a plunge into darkness, a beckoning call into some place I couldn’t see, couldn’t even begin to understand.

My heart hammered, and my vision blurred as the words took hold, reverberating through me like the pounding of a war drum.

And then… silence.

The forest, once alive with the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves, was still. I opened my eyes, staring into a darkness that had swallowed the world.
