A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 91 – 100
Rows upon rows of bookshelves stretched far above me, each shelf crammed with volumes of all shapes and sizes, bound in leather, vellum, and materials I couldn’t even recognize.
Ornate lamps hung overhead, casting a soft, golden glow over everything, but the air was still and heavy, as if untouched for years.
I looked around, hardly daring to breathe, almost certain that if I disturbed the silence, everything would vanish.
As I took a few hesitant steps, my fingers brushed against a nearby stack of books. The scent of old parchment and ink filled the air, mingling with a faint, strange aroma—one I couldn’t place but felt like ancient magic.
My fingertips traced the faint embossing on one of the book spines, feeling the way the leather had worn down from age.
Then I noticed it—another door in the far corner. It was slightly hidden behind one of the bookshelves, almost as if it had been left open accidentally.
I hesitated, every sense on high alert. My heart beat faster with each step I took closer to it, curiosity mixed with the thrill of discovery. *What could be in there?*
I crossed the room, my footsteps soft against the marble floors. As I neared the door, I felt something shift—almost as if the air itself was waiting for me to make a choice.
My hand reached for the handle, and I stepped through.
The moment I crossed the threshold, the door slammed shut behind me. I gasped, spinning around to find it closed, sealed tight as if I had been lured here with no escape.
The lights flickered on one by one, casting a warm glow around me as they illuminated the narrow passageway before me. The light was inviting, almost as if beckoning me forward.
A cold shiver ran down my spine, and I fought the urge to press my back against the door. *What is this place?* Part of me wanted to turn back, to knock until someone heard me, but the quiet invitation in the lights was too tempting to ignore.
Just as I took another hesitant step forward, a deep voice echoed through the corridor, startling me so badly I nearly jumped out of my skin.
“Welcome,” it said, a low, resonant voice that seemed to come from all around me, reverberating off the walls.
“Who… who’s there?” My voice came out steadier than I felt, and I tried to hide the tremor in my words.
No answer.

DOOR TO ANOTHER WORLD 2
SELENE FROWN.
just a few steps forward, I told myself, my heart pounding in my chest. The narrow passageway seemed endless, each step echoing softly as if the very walls were listening.
The golden lights led me on, their warm glow in stark contrast to the chill creeping over me. A feeling of being watched clung to the air, but curiosity was pulling me forward, overriding the warnings in my mind.
As I moved deeper, the walls on either side began to shift, filled with intricate carvings, symbols I couldn’t read but felt strangely drawn to.
They seemed alive, writhing under the dim light, telling stories older than time.
I trailed my fingers over one of them, feeling the strange warmth radiate through the stone. Just ahead, I noticed something glinting—a faint shimmer in the dark.
I approached cautiously, the flicker revealing itself as a mirror embedded in the wall. Its frame was ornate, swirling with gold and silver patterns, and it seemed almost to breathe, pulsing with a faint, rhythmic light.
I hesitated before leaning closer, expecting my own reflection to stare back at me, yet what I saw wasn’t me at all.
The face looking out was a girl with wide, haunted eyes, a soft glow illuminating her from within. She looked terrified, trapped, like she was silently calling for help, her mouth opening as if to speak.
I blinked, unable to tear my gaze away. She looked so familiar—yet I couldn’t place her. And then, as if in answer, her lips formed a single word: *Selene.*
A chill shot through me as I stumbled back, a sharp gasp escaping my lips. My name… she knew my name.
But before I could question it further, a faint laughter echoed from somewhere behind me, low and taunting.
