“Then what’s your plan your Highness?” Elara asked her and Katharina took a deep breath.
“We’ll disguise ourselves. You can dress up as me, and I’ll dress up as you. We’ll switch places, and I’ll make my escape”
Elara’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Your Highness, I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I’m just a maid, I can’t pretend to be the princess!”
Katharina grabbed Elara’s hands with pleading eyes.
“You have to help me, Elara. I can’t do this without you. We’ll make it work, I promise. You’ll be the perfect princess, and I’ll be the perfect maid”
Elara hesitated, looking unconvinced.
“But what if we get caught? The king and queen will be furious!”
Katharina’s grip on Elara’s hands tightened.
“We won’t get caught, I promise. We’ll be careful, and we’ll make sure everything goes smoothly. Please, Elara, help me!”
“I can’t do it, Your Highness. I’m sorry. It’s too risky” Elara sighed, shaking her head and Katharina’s eyes welled up with tears.
“Please, Elara, please help me! I can’t bear the thought of being trapped in a loveless marriage. I’ll do anything, just please, please help me escape!”
“Oh, my princess…” Elara’s voice softened, and she reached out to wipe away Katharina’s tears.
The door burst open, and the royal guards walked in.
“Your Highness, the king and queen request your presence in the ballroom immediately” one of them announced, their faces stern.
“You can go,I will be there” she told them.
“The King said you must come with us immediately” another one said and she sighed before standing up. She walked out of the room after giving Elara a last look.
The guards escorted Katharina through the palace corridors, their footsteps echoing off the stone floors. She had expected them to take her back to the ballroom, but instead, they led her to the throne room. The grand doors swung open, and Katharina’s heart sank as she saw the gathering inside.
Her parents, the king and queen, sat on their thrones, their faces stern and disapproving. Calantha stood beside them, her eyes on Prince Henry throughout. The prince, Henry, sat beside his parents, the king and queen of Augusta.
Katharina curtsied deeply, greeting everyone present there.
“You know what to do” The king said and she got what he meant.
“Your Majesties, I apologize for my sudden departure from the ballroom”
“You are forgiven but that’s not important now. What’s important is your future, and your future is with Prince Henry and the kingdom of Augusta”
He gestured to the king and queen of Augusta, who smiled at Katharina.
“Katharina, meet your future in-laws. King Edward, Queen Rachel, this is our beautiful daughter, Katharina” Her mother said, introducing her with a smile.
Katharina’s heart sank as she approached the king and queen. She curtsied again, greeting them with a smile.
“Your Majesties, it’s an honor to meet you.”
The king and queen exchanged a warm smile, and King Edward spoke up.
“The honor is ours, Katharina. We’ve heard so much about you. We’re delighted to finally meet you in person”
“The father has told me a lot about you, Katharina, But I must say, I wasn’t prepared for your beauty. When I saw you enter the ballroom, you literally took my breath away” Prince Henry said charmingly and Katharina smiled politely.
“Thank you, Prince Henry”
“I’m merely speaking the truth. I’m glad we’re to be married, Katharina. I promise to make you happy” he said again and Katharina heart sink at the reminder but she forced a smile, trying to hide her desperation.
“I’m glad too, Prince Henry. Let’s make our parents happy”
The king and queen of Augusta smiled immediately, while Katharina’s parents exchanged a satisfied glance.
“Very well, let us return to the ballroom and celebrate this joyous occasion!” King Thomas declared, his voice echoing through the throne room.
Everyone exited the throne room leaving just calantha,in so much deep thought. She finally left there and she head back to the ballroom where a dance waltz is currently going on.
As Prince Henry walked up to Katharina.
“Katharina, my dear, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?” he asked and she hesitated, unsure of what to do.
“Yeah… sure”
Prince Henry offered her his hand, and Katharina took it. He led her onto the dance floor, and they began to waltz with Calantha’s eyes on them.

NEWYORK,MARCUS’ MANSION*
Marcus’ black car pulled up to the grand entrance of his luxurious mansion. His guard, a huge man with a stern expression, jumped out to open the door for him.
Marcus stepped out of the car, his suit jacket slung over his arm, revealing a white shirt and a tie loosened at the neck. He ran a hand through his dark hair then sighed.
“Thank you, Jenkins” Marcus said, nodding at his guard and he walked away.
Jenkins followed closely behind, carrying Marcus’ briefcase and a folder full of documents.
Marcus walked into the mansion and he made his way to his study room, his footsteps echoing off the marble floors.
As he entered the study room, Marcus tossed his jacket onto a nearby chair and poured himself a glass of whiskey from the bottle on his desk.
Hazel suddenly appeared in the doorway, looking so angry.
“Daddy, you’re late! Again!” she exclaimed, her arms crossed.
Marcus looked up from his whiskey to look at her.
“Hey, kiddo, I’m sorry. I got held up at work” he explained, trying to placate her, but Hazel wasn’t having it.
“You always say that! You always work, work, work! You never have time for me!” she yelled at him.
Marcus sighed guiltily.
“Hazel, that’s not fair. I do have time for you, sweetie. I’m just…really busy right now” he tried to explain to her, but Hazel’s anger only seemed to grow.
“You’re always busy! You’re never here for me! I hate it!” she shouted, stamping her foot.
Marcus’ eyes widened in surprise at Hazel’s outburst. He knew she was a spoilt brat, but this was something else. He put down his whiskey and rose from his chair.
He walked over to Hazel and knelt down beside her, looking her straight in the eye.
“Hazel, I’m sorry. I know I’ve been busy lately and I haven’t been spending as much time with you as I should. That’s not okay, and I promise to do better”
“Really?” she asked,not ready to believe him.
“Really. I love you, Hazel, and I want to be there for you. I promise to make more time for us, okay?”
“Okay, Daddy”she nodded her head happily.
Marcus smiled and opened his arms, and Hazel immediately stepped into his embrace.
“I love you, kiddo” he whispered, hugging her tight.
“I love you too, Daddy,” Hazel replied, her voice muffled against his chest.
“Daddy, I don’t want to eat dinner tonight” Hazel said after moving away from his embrace, her face scrunched up in a frown.
“And why not?” Marcus raised an eyebrow
“Because I don’t like the food the cook prepared tonight! I want pizza and ice cream, not that boring old chicken and vegetables”
Marcus chuckled, shaking his head.
“Hazel, you know you can’t have pizza and ice cream for dinner every night. It’s not good for you” he said and Hazel’s frown deepened.
“I don’t care! I hate healthy food!”
“Okay, okay. We’ll order some pizza tonight, but just this once”
“Yay! Thank you, Daddy!” She clapped her hands excitedly.
“You’re a little terror, you know that?”
“That’s why you love me, Daddy!” She said and he smiled. He looks her so much and she always reminded him of his late wife.
“Natalie will be moving in tomorrow” he suddenly said and Hazel frowned.
“I don’t like her”
“You don’t have to like her”
“She’s not welcome then” she said and she walked away grumpily and Marcus sighed.

BACK AT THE VALDORIA KINGDOM*
The royal ball just ended some minutes ago and everyone has left the ballroom to their respectful houses.
Katharina was in her room looking out at the window when Elara came in, Katharina actually summoned her.
“I’m here,my princess” Elara announced, curtsying and Katharina turned.
“Elara, please! You have to help me now! They’ll make me marry that prince! Believe I have tried to like the Prince but it’s just not working,I don’t feel the connection between us at all,even when we were dancing together. I want to leave this palace too, I want to explore the town. I’m sick and tired of this place. Help me please”
“I’ll do it, Your Highness. I’ll help you escape” Elara said and Katharina couldn’t contain her joy as she hugged her.
“Thank you so much!”
“Anything for you”
“Now let’s do this”

Katharina, now disguised as Elara, made her way through the dark corridors of the palace, her heart racing with great fear right now. She had managed to escape the guards inside, but she knew the real challenge lay ahead. She reached the outside gates, where two stern looking guards stood.
As she approached, Katharina pulled the hood of her cloak tighter, trying to cover her face. She kept her head down, hoping to blend in with the other maids who occasionally left the palace on errands.
“Halt!” one of the guards called out, his hand on the hilt of his sword.
“Where are you going, maid?”
Katharina’s mind raced as she tried to come up with a convincing answer.
“I…I’m on an errand for the princess, sir” she stammered, trying to sound as humble as possible and still sound a little bit like Elara.
“She needs some herbs from the market for her tea”
“At this hour? And alone?” The guard asked.
Katharina’s heart skipped a beat. She knew she had to think fast.
“I…I was told it was urgent, sir. The princess’ tea is very important to her, and I didn’t want to disappoint her”
The guard looked at her skeptically, then glanced at his companion.
“What do you think, John? Should we let her through?”
John shrugged.
“I don’t know, James. She seems suspicious to me”
Katharina’s heart sank. She knew she had to act fast, or her escape plan would be foiled and just then, Calantha showed up.
“Your Highness” The guys bowed and she waved them off.
“Ah, perfect timing. I need someone to fetch me a rare bouquet of flowers from the market. The ones with the golden petals. I want them for my room and I need them this night”
The guards nodded, and Calantha turned to the Katharina.
“You, go! Get me those flowers and make sure they’re the freshest ones available”
Katharina’s heart raced as she took the coin pouch from Calantha, trying not to reveal her true identity. She nodded and curtsied, hiding her face behind her hood.
Calantha didn’t give her a second glance, assuming she was just another palace maid.
“Off with you, then! And be quick about it!”
With that, Katharina was sent on her way, the coin pouch clutched in her hand. She’s so happy right now that her own sister had just helped her escape unknowingly.
