Katharina stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection. She couldn’t help but notice the redness and irritation on her skin, a reminder of her recent ordeal with Natalie and she sighed sadly. Her skin, once flawless and radiant, was no longer perfect because there are marks on it.
Just as she was lost in thought, a gentle knock at the door broke the silence.
“Come in” Katharina said.
The door opened, and Madison stood in the doorway, a warm smile spreading across her face.
“Hey, Katharina! I brought some of my famous homemade face masks to help with your skin”
Madison said, holding up a small basket filled with various creams and lotions.
“We are so sorry about what happened with Natalie, but don’t worry, we’ll get your skin looking radiant again in no time!” Madison said and Katharina smiled.
“Thanks, Madison. That’s so sweet of you”
Madison walked over to Katharina and began to examine her skin.
“Hmm, not too bad. I’ve got just the thing for this” She started to apply a soothing cream to Katharina’s skin, and Katharina closed her eyes, feeling relaxed.
“By the way, Marcus is around. He’s in his room if you want to see him” Madison casually said and Katharina’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name. She looked down, her cheeks flushing slightly.
“When did he arrive?” she asked.
“Some minutes ago, He’s resting in his room. Do you wish to see him?” Madison asked.
Katharina nodded shyly, her smile barely noticeable.
Madison smiled knowingly and patted Katharina’s hand.
“I’ll show you to his room. But first, let me finish applying this cream to help with your skin”
“Yeah sure” Katharina said.
Madison finished applying the cream and patted Katharina’s hand.
“All done! Now, let’s go see Marcus” She led Katharina to his room, knocked gently, and opened the door.
“I’ll leave you two alone” she said with a sly smile, before closing the door behind Katharina.
Katharina looked around the room, expecting to see Marcus, but he was nowhere to be found. She was about to leave when she heard the sound of the bathroom door opening. Out came Marcus, wet and dripping, with a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair was slicked back, and water droplets glowed on his skin.
Katharina’s eyes widened, and she couldn’t help but stare. Marcus’s chest was broad and muscular, and the towel barely covered his hips. She felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she took in the sight of him.
Marcus looked up, caught her stare, and smiled lazily.
“Hey” he said in a low and husky voice.
Katharina still couldn’t speak, her eyes on Marcus’s dripping wet form. She felt like she was melting into the floor. Her eyes fixed on his chest, his abs, his… everything.
“Hey” he said again, his voice sending shivers down her spine.
Katharina still couldn’t speak, her voice caught in her throat.
“You are beautiful, Katharina. Even with the redness and irritation, you still shine effortlessly”
Katharina’s cheeks flushed deeper, her heart skipping a beat at his words. She felt like she was going to collapse, her legs trembling beneath her.
Marcus took a step closer to Katharina and then took another step closer.
Katharina’s eyes fixed on his, her heart pounding in her chest.
And then, Marcus reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind Katharina’s ear. His touch sent shivers down her spine, and she felt like she was going to collapse yet again.
What’s this man doing to her?
Katharina’s back hit the wall as she tried to move away, but Marcus was too close. He leaned in, his face inches from hers.
“You’re so beautiful, Katharina. I can’t resist you”he whispered.
Katharina’s heart stopped altogether as Marcus’s lips brushed against hers in a soft and gentle way. He deepened the kiss, their lips moving together in perfect sync.
The kiss was filled with longing and desire, and finally they broke apart, gasping for air, Katharina’s cheeks were all pink and Marcus smiled, his lips still close to hers. The kiss left them both breathless, wanting more.
“So…hey” he said again.
“Hey” she replied this time around and he chuckled.
“Don’t worry, something will be done about your skin” he assured her and she nodded.
“So where have you been?”
“I’ve been in hiding for a while. Natalie disguised herself as a nurse and entered my ward room, but I was one step ahead. I had someone else in my bed, and I was watching from the CCTV room. I saw her administer something, but thankfully, we were prepared. The doctor gave the person an antidote, and they’re fine”
“Thank goodness”
“Any update on the person desperate to have you dead?” She asked.
“Not yet but I’m one step ahead in knowing” he said.
“Marcus, I don’t know how to thank you” she said, her voice filled with emotion.
“What are you talking about, Katharina?”
“For sending your parents to rescue me from Natalie’s clutches. I don’t know what would have happened to me if they hadn’t shown up when they did”
“You don’t have to thank me, Katharina. I just wanted to make sure you were safe. I knew my parents would be the best ones to help you”
“Thank you, Marcus. Thank you for caring about me, for protecting me. You have no idea how much it means to me”
Marcus smiled and he reached out to brush a strand of hair behind Katharina’s ear.
“You mean everything to me, Katharina. I’ll always be here to protect you” he said and with that,he kissed in her.

NEXT DAY AT THE DINNING ROOM*
The next day which was a Sunday, Katharina walked into the dining room, looking beautiful in a yellow sundress. The whole family was seated at the dinning and they smiled at her.
“Good morning, Katharina” Hazel greeted her cheerfully and Katharina smiled.
“Morning, love”
Marcus stood up from his seat, his eyes on hers, and smiled.
“Good morning, beautiful” he said, pulling out a chair for her and Katharina blushed.
“Good morning, Marcus”
As they sat down to eat, Katharina couldn’t help but steal glances at Marcus. She was still thinking about the kiss they had last night.
“I invited the doctor to come over to treat your skin” Julian spoke up.
“You shouldn’t have ma’am”
“I can’t allow my future daughter in-law to be like that. I want the whole New York to know how beautiful you are” she said and Katharina eyes widened.
Did she just called her future daughter in-law?
“When are you getting married to my dad?” Hazel asked and Katharina blinked twice.
“C’mon sweetheart,don’t rush her ” Marcus said.
“Okay dad”
“Marcus,you should resume back to office soon” Leonardo said.
“Let my son rest,will you?”
“This isn’t the time to slack behind” his dad said and Marcus nodded.
“I’m resuming today anyway. I think I’m okay now”
“But brother,you had a broken ribs due to the accident” Madison objected.
“Thank God you said ‘had’ ” he said and everyone chuckled.
“Speaking of which, I think it’s time I paid a visit to the company today, I want to see how things are running and make sure everything is in order” Leonardo said and Marcus nodded in agreement.
“I’ll come with you, Dad. I need to get back to work anyway”
“Dad when are we returning back home?” Hazel asked.
“Tired of us already?” Julian asked.
“No it’s not that,I’m just asking”
“Tomorrow kiddo”
Suddenly, Hazel pointed to the TV in the dining room.
“Look! Breaking news!”
The family turned their attention to the screen, and their expressions changed to shock, but not sadness.
“…and reports are coming in that Natalie, the popular model, was shot dead by a mysterious man on the highway last night,” the news anchor said.
The room fell silent for a moment, before Julian spoke up.
“Well, that’s one less problem to worry about” she said and Marcus nodded in agreement.
“She was a dangerous person. I’m just glad no one else got hurt”
Katharina shook her head. “I can’t believe she went so far.
“She was a threat to our family, and now she’s gone. Let’s just hope this is the end of it” Leonardo said.
“I don’t feel sorry for her. She got what was coming to her” Madison spoke up.
“But who killed her?” Mason asked.
“I don’t know… Maybe someone she offended or something” Madison shrugged.
“Let’s leave the police to investigate on it. I will go change” Marcus said and he left for his room.
“I will love to visit someone today,may I?” Katharina asked.
“Of course! Why not? It’s not like we are holding you captive or something” Leonardo said.
“Can I come with you?” The twins and Hazel said in unison, everyone glanced at them.
“Y’all want to follow me?”
“Preety please,I’m bored at home”
“Let them just come with you ”
“Yes!” Hazel grinned.

MRS GRAY’S HOUSE*
Katharina, Hazel, and the twins arrived at Mrs Gray’s house. Katharina knocked on the door, and after a moment, it swung open to reveal Mrs Gray herself.
Mrs Gray’s eyes widened in surprise, and for a split second, Katharina saw a look of guilt in her expression.
“Katharina! Oh, dear, I wasn’t expecting you” Mrs. Gray said, her voice a little too bright.
“Hi, Mrs Gray,” Katharina said.
Mrs Gray’s eyes moved to the twins and Hazel, who were standing behind Katharina, their eyes fixed curiously on her.
“Please, come in” Mrs Gray said, stepping aside to let them enter.
“Please make yourself at home”
“Where’s Emily?”
“She’s sleeping” she said before moving to the kitchen and Katharina followed her.
“Mrs Gray…”
“Katharina I’m very sorry,I didn’t mean to do that to you. The thing was that Natalie threatened me with Emily and there was nothing I could do about it”
“It’s okay. I’m not angry at all. Why will I be angry at you? You brought me into your home without even knowing me,you took me as your own family and that I will be greatfull for” Katharina said and Mrs Gray hugged her tightly.
“Thanks for forgiving me,my mind haven’t been at rest since Natalie took you”
“Did you watch the news this morning?”
“Yes,the devil is dead”
“I will be back here soon. I’m currently at the Blackwoood’s house”
“No,you should stay there”
“No I’m coming back”
“Look at your skin, Natalie did this right?”
“Yes but it will be treated soon”
Katharina and Mrs Gray returned to the sitting room. Just as they sat down, Emily came down the stair and her eyes brightened when she saw Katharina.
“Katharina! Katharina!” Emily exclaimed, rushing over to Katharina and throwing her arms around her neck.
Katharina laughed and hugged Emily tightly.
“Hey, sweetie! I’m so glad to see you again!”
Emily pulled back and looked up at Katharina with a big smile.
“I missed you so much! I was so worried about you!”
“I missed you too, Emily. I’m so sorry I had to leave without saying goodbye”
Emily nodded, still smiling.
“It’s okay. At least you are here now”
Emily eyes landed on Hazel who was looking at her.
“Hi…” Hazel waved at her.
“You know her?” Emily asked.
“Yes and she’s a very nice girl”
“Nice my foot” Emily muttered.
Hazel got up and went to meet her.
“I’m sorry for how I treated you, please let’s be friends” Hazel offered and Emily couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Really?”
“Yes”
“Come to my room and let me show you my toys” Emily grabbed her hands and Hazel followed her up.
“Hazel really offered a friendship?” Madison asked in surprise.
“Dad and mum must hear of this” Mason said.
“Seems our dear Hazel made a friend” Katharina said and Mrs Gray smiled dryly, Emily never had a friend and she’s glad she finally have but she doesn’t like this particular friendship.
She doesn’t want anything to do with the Blackwoood!
Not one bit!
She doesn’t want problem for her and her daughter.
Just then,they heard a loud noise echoed from upstairs, making them all jump in surprise.
“What was that?” Katharina asked.
Mrs. Gray’s expression turned worried. “I don’t know, but let’s go check it out”
They all rushed upstairs and as they reached the top of the stairs, they saw Emily lying on the floor, looking pale. Hazel was standing before her, trembling and looking like she had seen a ghost.
Mrs Gray’s eyes widened in horror as she rushed to Emily’s side.
“What did you do to my daughter, you little witch?” she accused.
Hazel shook her head quickly.
“I didn’t do anything, I swear! I didn’t even touch her!”
But Mrs. Gray was beyond reason. She approached Hazel, her hand raised, and slapped her across the face.
“You little liar!”
Hazel’s eyes welled up with tears as she stumbled backward, touching her cheek in shock. Katharina and the twins gasped in horror, unsure of what to do.
“Mrs Gray, stop! That’s enough!” Katharina exclaimed, trying to intervene.
But Mrs. Gray was beyond control.
“Get out of my house, all of you! And never come back!”
