NEXT DAY AT SPRINGDALE HIGH SCHOOL*
Mrs Johnson glanced around the classroom, ensuring she had everyone’s attention.
“Alright, class. That’s all for today” She gathered her belongings and headed out the door as the bell rang, signaling lunch break.
Madison, Charlotte, and Olivia got up and started walking towards the cafeteria. As they walked, Mason caught up to them, falling into step beside his sister, Madison.
“Hey, mind if I join you guys?” Mason asked and Madison raised an eyebrow.
“What’s wrong, can’t find your own friends?”
Mason chuckled.
“Nah, I just thought it would be more fun to hang out with you three. Plus, I’m starving!”
“Well, we can’t turn down a hungry man. Sure, Mason, join us” Charlotte grinned.
Olivia smiled politely, her heart beating fast. She has a secret crush on Mason, and being close to him made her nervous.
As they walked to the cafeteria, Mason suddenly turned to Olivia.
“So, Olivia, are you coming to Alec’s sleepover party tomorrow?”
“Charlotte and Madison are going…so, sure, I’m going” she replied, not bothering to look at him.
Charlotte and Madison shared meaningful glances.
“Hey, babe!”
They turned to see Jace grinning at them. He fell into step beside Charlotte, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
“Hey, guys! What’s up?” Jace asked and Charlotte smiled.
“Not much, Jace. Just heading to lunch”
“What’s up, man?”Mason asked.
Jace clapped Mason on the back.
“Not much, just thought I’d join the party”
Olivia noticed Madison’s eyes flicker to Jace, a brief, secretive smile passing between them. But when Olivia looked again, Madison’s expression was neutral.

VINSON ENTERPRISES*
Vinson sat behind his desk, sipping his coffee and scanning the morning’s reports. His secretary, Eva, walked in, her heels clicking on the floor. She was dressed in a fitted red dress, her curves fitted perfectly. Two buttons of her shirt were undone, revealing a hint of cleavage.
Eva catwalked towards Vinson’s desk, her hips swaying with each step while Vinson just stared at her with interest. As she approached, he stood up, his hands reaching out to grab her waist.
“Eva, what’s the meaning of this?” Vinson asked in a low voice.
“You know I have a meeting with the board in an hour”
Eva smiled, her lips curling up.
“I know, Mr Vinson. But I thought you might need a little… distraction before your meeting”
Vinson’s eyes flashed with desire as he pulled Eva closer.
“You’re a very bad girl, Eva. But I like that about you”
Eva giggled, her hands tracing the contours of Vinson’s chest.
“I’m just trying to keep you happy, boss”
Vinson’s phone buzzed, breaking the spell. He groaned, reluctantly releasing Eva.
“Answer it” Eva whispered, her breath hot against Vinson’s ear.
Vinson picked up the phone, his voice gruff.
“Vinson speaking”
Vinson’s expression darkened as he listened to the caller
“Fine, I’ll handle it” He slammed the phone down, his eyes flashing with anger.
“What’s wrong, boss?”
Vinson just stared at her. He didn’t answer, instead, he pinned her to the wall, his hands grabbing her waist.
Eva’s eyes widened as Vinson’s lips crashed down on hers, his kiss aggressive and demanding. She felt his hands roaming her body, pulling at her dress.
Just as he was about to pull off her dress, Eva pushed him away, gasping for breath.
“Wait, Mr Vinson”
“What is it, Eva?”he groaned, not liking the fact that she stopped the fun.
Eva’s voice trembled slightly.
“Before we continue…I have to say this. Tonight is our rival’s wine launch party…and we were invited.”
“What do you mean we were invited? Who invited us?”
“Marcus Blackwood himself extended the invitation. I think it’s an opportunity we shouldn’t miss”
Vinson’s expression darkened.
“Why would Blackwood invite us to his launch party? What’s his game?”
“Maybe he wants to show off his new collection, or maybe he wants to make a statement. Either way, I think we should attend”
“Yes we should attend it” Vinson said with a dark smile.

BACK AT SPRINGDALE HIGH SCHOOL*
The bell rang, signaling the end of class. Madison gathered her belongings and stood up, but before she could take a step, Olivia grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the classroom, into the empty hallway.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Madison asked, trying to wriggle free.
Olivia’s grip only tightened as she pulled Madison further away from the classroom door, out of earshot. Then, she glared at Madison, looking so annoyed.
“Stop what you’re doing, it’s not nice” Olivia said and Madison looked at her totally confusion.
“What are you talking about, Liv?”
“Don’t play dumb, Madison. I know what I saw. You and Jace, exchanging secret smiles and glances. It’s not fair to Charlotte”
Madison’s eyes widened, and she took a step back, trying to process Olivia’s words.
“And don’t even get me started on what I saw during sports period. Charlotte and I came looking for you because you were taking too long to get back, and then I saw the scene. You and Jace, kissing in the classroom! I had to stop Charlotte from seeing it too, I couldn’t let her walk in on that. I’ve been keeping quiet since then, but not anymore. It isn’t nice at all!”
Madison’s face went pale, her eyes moving around the hallway as if searching for an escape.
“Charlotte is your best friend, and you’re making out with her boyfriend behind her back? That’s so wrong, Madison! You’re risking your friendship and for what? A secret fling with Jace?”
Madison’s shoulders slumped, her eyes dropping to the floor. She knew Olivia had her cornered, and there was no denying the truth.
“You don’t understand, Liv. Jace and I…we have a connection. We’ve had feelings for each other for a long time, but we couldn’t act on them because of Charlotte. But being around each other, seeing each other every day…it’s impossible to deny our feelings”
“A connection? You call cheating on your best friend a connection? You’re risking everything for a fling, Madison. And what about Charlotte? She trusts you, she confides in you. How could you do this to her?”
Madison shrugged, her voice taking on a rational tone.
“Charlotte and Jace are happy, but they’re not meant to be. They’re just comfortable with each other. Jace and I…we have passion, we have fire. We can’t help how we feel. Jace loves me, he’s just with Charlotte because she likes him”
“You’re justifying this? You’re making excuses for cheating and hurting your best friend? That’s not the Madison I thought I knew.”
“You don’t know everything, Liv. You don’t know what it’s like to be in my shoes. So don’t judge me”
Just then,Charlotte came out of her hiding behind the rows of lockers, her face soaked with tears.
“I know everything.I heard everything”Charlotte said with trembling voice.
Madison’s eyes widened in horror as Charlotte approached her, tears streaming down her face.
“Charlotte, I—”
“Don’t” Charlotte interrupted, her voice cracking.
“Don’t even try to explain. I heard it all. You and Jace, behind my back…my best friend and my boyfriend”
Olivia pursed her lips as she reached out to Charlotte, but Charlotte shook her head, her eyes on Madison.
“How could you?”
Madison took a step back, her eyes moving between Charlotte and Olivia.
“Charlotte, please understand—”
“No”
“I don’t want to hear it. You’ve broken my trust, Madison. I don’t know if I can ever forgive you”
Olivia’s eyes filled with disgust as she turned to leave.
“I don’t even want to look at you right now, Madison. You’re not the friend I thought you were”
Madison shrugged, a smirk spreading across her face.
“At least I’ll have him to myself openly now. No more sneaking around”
Charlotte’s eyes widened in shock at Madison’s callousness.
“You’re not even sorry, are you? You’re not even remorseful for what you’ve done”
Madison’s smirk grew wider.
“Why should I be? I’ve got what I want. And soon, everyone will know that Jace is mine and mine alone”
Olivia’s footsteps echoed down the hallway as she walked away, leaving Madison and Charlotte.
“I don’t know who you are anymore, Madison. But I don’t want to be friends with someone like you”
“Good riddance. I don’t need friends like you holding me back”Madison said and walked out.

SPRINGDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL*
Katharina walked into the schoolyard, scanning the area for Hazel. She spotted her chatting with Emily and a boy she didn’t recognize.
“Hey, Hazel!” Katharina called out, smiling.
Hazel turned and ran over to Katharina.
“Katharina! This is Nick, he’s in my class”
“Hi Nick, nice to meet you. I’m Katharina”
“Hi, Katharina. Hazel told me a lot about you”he said, earning a smile from her and then she turned to Emily who was looking so pale.
“Baby girl,how are you doing?” Katharina squatted before her.
“I don’t know, Katharina” she said and almost started crying.
“Hey don’t cry, you will be fine” Katharina stroke her back and Emily nodded slowly.
“You are here to pick me too right?”
“Yes,I told your mum I will be the one to pick you up” Katharina said and Emily smiled.
She grabbed both of their hands after bidding Nick’s bye.
A stray ball suddenly flew through the air, hitting Emily squarely on the face. She let out a pained cry as her eyes widened in shock. Katharina rushed to her side as Emily’s legs buckled beneath her.
“Emily!” Katharina exclaimed, catching her as she fell.
But it was too late. Emily’s eyes rolled back, and she went limp in Katharina’s arms, fainting from the shock and pain.
Hazel looked over at the kids playing the ball and glared at them.
“We didn’t do it on purpose” one of them said.
Without hesitation, Katharina scooped up Emily’s unconscious form and rushed towards the car that drove her here, parked nearby.
Immediately they got to the car,the driver drove off and Katharina brought out her phone to call Mrs Gray.

UNKNOWN PLACE*
A lady made her way to the bedroom, where another lady lay on the bed, looking sick.
The lady on the bed, had a bandage wrapped tightly around her stomach, stained with hints of crimson. Drips were attached to her hands, slowly releasing a steady flow of medication into her veins.
Her face was pale, with dark circles under her eyes, and her skin was sweaty. The lady’s chest rose and fell with shallow breaths, her eyes sunken as if the life had been drained from her.
The lady who entered the room approached the bedside. She gently took the injured lady’s hand.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” she asked.
The lady’s eyes suddenly opened and she opened her mouth to say her longest words since she has been bedridden.
“Much better than yesterday, Ruby” the lady said.
“Good to hear” Ruby replied, squeezing her hand gently.
“It’s so funny how they all think I’m dead. Well, they are in for a shock” she smiled darkly and Ruby raised her left eye brow.
“I can’t be killed easily. I’ve been through hell and back, and I’m still standing”
“You’re not going to let them get away with it, are you?” she asked.
“Oh, no. I’m just getting started”her smile grew darker.
