Slowly, they leaned in closer, their lips almost touching, when suddenly, the door burst open.
“Ah, perfect timing, Doctor” Marcus said, his voice laced with sarcasm, as a middle-aged man in a white coat entered the room.
“Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Marcus, but I need to check on your condition” the doctor said, his eyes fixed on the bandaged stomach.
Katharina straightened up, her cheeks flushing slightly, as Marcus pulled down his shirt.
“I’ll leave you to it, then” Katharina said, taking a step back.
Marcus caught her hand, his eyes locking onto hers.
“Stay” he whispered.
Katharina’s heart skipped a beat as she nodded, her hand lingering in his.
The doctor cleared his throat.
“Let’s get started, shall we?” The doctor asked and Marcus nodded.

SPRINGDALE HIGH SCHOOL*
The twins arrived at school after dropping Hazel at her school and they headed to class.
Madison walked into the classroom with Mason. As they made their way to their seats, Madison split off to join her friends Olivia and Charlotte, who were already seated and Mason headed towards his friends.
“Hey, girl!” Olivia exclaimed,she looked at Mason for a minute before focusing back to Madison.
“Hey, guys!” Madison replied, sliding into the empty seat beside them.
“Hey, Madi! How’s it going?” Charlotte grinned.
Just then, Jace walked into the class looking so cute in his new haircut and the girls couldn’t help but drool especially Madison.
Jace made his way over to the girls, his eyes locked on Charlotte,they are dating.
“Hey, babe” he said, leaning in to peck her cheek.
Madison looked away, her heart skipping a beat. She couldn’t help but feel a little jealous.
“I’m so nervous about our upcoming text” Olivia said, biting her lip.
“I know, me too,I’ve been studying for weeks, but I still feel unprepared” Madison said.
Just then, her phone buzzed in her bag. She pulled it out, her heart skipping a beat as she saw Jace’s name on the screen. She opened the message, her face growing hotter by the second.
JACE: Hey beautiful ❤️
Madison’s friends noticed her blushing and exchanged knowing glances.
“What’s going on, Madi?” Olivia asked.
“Nothing, just… a funny meme from Mason”
“A meme? That’s got you blushing like that?” Charlotte asked.
Madison’s face grew even redder as she tried to come up with a convincing excuse.
“Yeah, it’s just… really funny, okay?”
Olivia and Charlotte exchanged skeptical glances.
“Anyway, back to our tests… has anyone started studying for our science test yet?” Olivia asked.
Just then, Jace caught her eye and winked at her making her blush.
Mason, who was watching them from where he sat with his friends, frowned and shook his head. He doesn’t like what’s going on at all.
Madision couldn’t help sneaking glances at Jace as he chatted with Charlotte. She felt drawn to him, but she knew she had to be careful. This is her best friend’s boyfriend for crying out loud!

VALDORIA KINGDOM*
King Ryker and Queen Lirian sat on their throne, their regal presence commanding the attention of the entire court. The advisors and guards stood at attention, awaiting the king’s decree.
King Ryker’s face was red with rage as he glared at the guards standing before him.
“How could you be so negligent?” he thundered, his voice echoing through the throne room.
“Elara, a traitor, escaped from our dungeon with the highest security and you didn’t even notice?”
The guards trembled, their eyes cast downward in shame.
“We… apologize, Your Majesty” one of them stammered.
“We were vigilant, but she must have found a way to evade us”another said.
King Ryker’s anger boiled over, his fist slamming down on the armrest.
“Evasion? You call that evasion? She walked out of our dungeon, past all of you, and you didn’t even lift a finger to stop her?”
Queen Lirien placed a calming hand on her husband’s arm, her voice soft and soothing.
“My dear, we will find her”
“I want her found, and I want her brought back to me. Alive. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Your Majesty. We will not fail again”
The king’s glare lingered on them for a moment before he turned to his advisors.
“Assemble a team to hunt her down. I want her back to the dungeon, where she belongs. She helped Katharina to escape and she’s going to pay dearly for it”
One of the guards, a man with a scar above his eyebrow, spoke up.
“I think someone helped her to escape, Your Majesty. There’s no way she could have escaped the dungeon on her own, especially since she was chained”
“What do you mean? Who could have helped her?”
“I don’t know your,your majesty”
King Ryker’s face darkened.
“Find out who that person as soon as possible”
King Ryker stood up from his throne,still looking angry.
“I want answers. Find out who helped Elara’s escape and who is behind this betrayal”
He walked out of the throne room, his queen and advisors following him. The guards and courtiers bowed as he passed, looking scared.

OUTSKIRTS OF VALDORIA KINGDOM*
Elara was still looking shocked as she stared at the prince before her. He’s Prince Dominic,the first child of the King and Queen of Valdoria. King Ryker disowned him five years ago, when he refused to marry the girl his father chose for him and that made him leave the palace to come live here.
No one heard of his whereabouts till date and the King didn’t bother to find him but Queen Lirian still worries about him.
“Why are you staring at me like you’d seen a ghost?” He asked and Elara looked away making him chuckled.
“It’s been so long my prince” she said.
“Yeah it is. I heard about Katharina running away”he said.
“Yeah,the King wanted her to marry Prince Henry but she didn’t like the idea and so she told me to help her out. I did, and the King found out, actually Princess Calantha reported me to the king and I got locked in the dungeon. Today was supposed to be my execution day but thankfully,you saved me”
“The king is still the same,always forcing marriage on his children. I’m just glad Katharina escaped”
“Thank you so much,my prince”
“Dominic, Elara. Don’t call me any Prince” he said and she smiled.
“I know the King must have ordered a search party for you but panic, you are safe here because no one can’t easily stumble into this place”he assured her.
“I have a question. How did you know I was locked up at the dungeon,how did you sneak into the palace without anyone noticing and why did you save me?” She asked.
“Don’t worry yourself,I have my ways” he said leaving Elara wondering.

NEW YORK, COFFEE SHOP*
Katharina wiped the sweat from her forehead as she steamed milk for a customer’s latte. She had just started working at the coffee shop a few hours ago, and she was still getting used to the fast pace.
After leaving the hospital, Katharina stumbled upon this coffee shop and few minutes later,she was offered a job. At least she will use the pay to buy things for herself without stressing Mrs Gray.
As she handed the latte to the customer, she smiled. She was finally starting to settle into her new life in New York.
Another customer, a middle-aged man with a smirk on his face, walked up behind her and spanked her on the ass.
Katharina was taken aback, her eyes widening in shock. She quickly regained her composure and slapped the man across the face, her hand leaving a red mark on his cheek.
“Hey, what’s your problem?” the man exclaimed, holding his cheek in disbelief.
“You’re my problem,Don’t ever touch me like that again”
The coffee shop fell silent, with all eyes on Katharina and the man.
As Katharina handed a customer their latte, another customer,a man with a smirk on his face, walked up behind her and spanked her on the ass.
Katharina was taken aback, her eyes widening in shock. She quickly regained her composure and slapped the man across the face, her hand leaving a red mark on his cheek.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” the manager, a tall, stern-looking woman, rushed over to the scene.
“This guy just spanked me!” Katharina explained expecting the manager to caution the man, but to her surprise, the manager’s expression turned from concern to annoyance.
“Katharina or what did you say your name was, that’s no way to treat a customer,You need to apologize to him right now”
Katharina’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Apologize? He spanked me!”
“Do you want me to lose my customers? You should apologize to him now”
“No, he’s the one who should be apologizing to me!”
“I’m not apologizing to her, she’s just being dramatic” the man said.
“Katharina, if you won’t apologize, then maybe you shouldn’t work here anymore. I can’t lose my customers because of you”
Katharina’s eyes widened in disbelief again.
“You’re choosing his side over mine? After what he just did?” She asked and the manager shrugged.
“He’s a paying customer, Katharina. You’re just an employee. I can easily replace you”
The manager’s words felt like a slap in the face, stinging Katharina’s heart and soul. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. The manager was choosing a disrespectful customer over her, an employee who had done nothing wrong.
Katharina’s eyes welled up with tears as she felt a surge of hurt and anger. She couldn’t hold back her emotions any longer. With a sob, she turned and ran out of the coffee shop.
She hates people like this and she hates being disrespected.
A black car suddenly pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down revealing Jenkins as he leaned over from the driver’s seat.
“Get in”
Katharina opened the car door without hesitation and slid into the backseat, expecting to find an empty space. But to her surprise, Marcus was already sitting there, looking at her with a charming smile.
“Hey. You still look pretty even while crying, but I’d love it if you dried off those precious tears and gave me that beautiful smile of yours”
Katharina’s heart skipped a beat as she heard that from him. As she searched for words, Marcus handed her a handkerchief.
“Here, dry your tears. I can’t bear to see you cry”
