Emily’s eyes widened in shock as she stumbled backward, her hands flying to her cheek. Then, her eyes rolled back and she fell to the ground, unconsciously.
“Emily!!!” Both Mrs Gray and Katharina screamed out in horror, and Mrs Gray quickly scouted beside her,placing her head on her laps. Katharina turned to Natalie angrily and took a step closer to her.
“How dare you? You have no right to touch her, let alone slap her!” She yelled at her but Natalie stood her ground, not looking remorseful.
“She deserved it, she’s just a spoiled little brat who needs to learn her place”
Katharina’s anger increased, and she lashed out at Natalie, her hand connecting with a loud smack.
“You’re the one who needs to learn her place!”
Natalie’s head snapped back, but she didn’t flinch. She simply smiled, a cold, calculating smile.
“You’re making a big mistake, Katharina” she warned before leaving them.
Mrs. Gray was still at Emily’s side, tears streaming down her face as she cradled Emily’s head in her lap.
“Emily, my baby, wake up! Oh, please, wake up!” she begged and Emily slowly opened her eyes.
“Mom…what happened?”
“That monster slapped you, but you’re safe now. I’ve got you, baby” Mrs Gray said and Emily’s eyes widened as she remembered the incident, and she struggled to sit up, her mother’s arms supporting her.
“Don’t worry, dear. We’ll make sure she pays for what she’s done” Katharina said and they went back inside.

MARCUS’ MANSION*
Natalie got home ,her left cheek all red from the slap Katharina gave her and that particular spot is so stinging. She had to act like the slap didn’t hurt but deep down,it hurts like hell.
She got to the living room and she met Hazel watching cartoon,not noticing her presence since she was so engrossed in it. Natalie rolled her eyes at her before putting on a fake smile.
“Hazel baby,mind I join you?” She asked, walking towards her.
“Smiling doesn’t suit you, especially if it’s fake. I can sense fake things, and that’s you” Hazel said without turning to look at her.
“What?”
“I will repeat that statement for you since you temporarily went deaf. I said your smile is as fake as you are, Natalie. It’s a weak attempt to hide the ugliness inside. I can see right through you, and I don’t like what I see. You’re a manipulative, selfish user, and I wish you’d just leave us alone” Hazel turned to look at her Natalie took a deep breath, trying to control her anger.
“Hazel, please… just give me a chance to prove myself to you. I guy I haven’t been the best person to you, but I’m willing to change”
“So you can show me more of those fake sides of you? No thanks, Natalie. Stop being fake and maybe I’ll like you”
Natalie’s face twisted in frustration, but she bit back her anger.
“Fine, don’t believe me. But know that I’m trying so hard for you to like me but you aren’t giving me the chance”
With that, Natalie stormed out of the room, heading towards her own bedroom. But as she turned, she bumped into Marcus, who was about from his room and Natalie’s face instantly transformed into a bright, fake smile.
“Marcus! Hi, I was just… uh… going to my room to…rest, today has been hectic” she said and he nodded.
“You should freshen up quick and come down to eat,we are all having dinner together tonight” Marcus said and Natalie eyes widened in surprise.
“Really?”
“Yeah and now be quick” he said and Natalie rushed upstairs.
“Seriously,dad” Hazel looked at him in disapproval.
“What? Since she’s living with us, it’s not really bad if she joins us at the dinning”
“Your are just giving her hope,she will think you are already liking her”
“Now that’s funny” he chuckled.
“Now what are you watching?”he went to sit beside her and Hazel leaned on him.
“Not like you will understand it” she said and he chuckled quietly.

NEXT DAY, UNKNOWN PLACE*
A lady entered a room ,a man’s back facing her but she still bowed even though he’s not seeing her.
“Here I am, boss”
“Betty” his deep voice called.
“Yes boss”
“You are ending Vicious’ life tonight at at the cell. I don’t trust him one bit,he might give in to the police on who sent him to shoot Marcus when he gets pressured and that won’t be nice”
“Consider it done,boss”
“Very good, Betty. Now leave” he said coldly and Betty exited the room.
The door suddenly opened anda
a woman walked in, her feet clad in high heels and she’s dressed in a stunning Versace gown. The dress was a deep blue color that fit her perfectly, showing off her curves. Her hair was dark and fell down her back, and her eyes were a piercing brown that seemed to see right through. Her skin was a smooth olive tone, and her lips were painted red. She was a beautiful sight to behold.
And then, she smiled, and her whole face lit up.
“Natalie” the deep voice called sensing her presence.
“Boss”
“How’s it with Marcus? update me”
“It’s been so hard and his stupid daughter is making everything so hard for me” Natalie said.
“Should we eliminate her?”he gently asked and her eyes widened.
“No not yet”
“Well be fast!” He shouted and she flinched.
“Time isn’t on our side anymore,do everything you can. Do you understand?”
“Yes boss”
“Now come over here and satisfy me” he ordered and Natalie quickly went to him.

IN THE WOODS*
Dominic walked through the woods, enjoying the peace and quiet. Suddenly, he felt like someone was watching him. He stopped and turned around, and that’s when he saw Elara standing there, staring at him.
“What are you doing here?” Dominic asked, his hand instinctively going to his knife.
“You should have stayed home”
Elara took a step closer, her eyes on his.
“You know you’re wanted by the king, right? You shouldn’t be out here. It’s not safe…for you”
“I was bored” she said.
“You’re bored? You’re wanted by the King, Elara. You should be hiding”
“I can handle myself, Dominic. I’m not some damsel in distress waiting to be rescued. Besides, I have you to protect me now”
“Elara, I’m not a prince anymore. I’m just a man on the run, like you. We need to be careful”
“I know, Dominic. But I trust you. And I have nowhere else to go”
“Fine”
“But you are still a Prince” Elara pointed out.
“Not anymore,my father disowned me remember?”
“Still…” He cut her short.
“Let’s just go home” he said and Elara nodded, falling into step beside him as they made their way back through the trees. They walked in silence, the only sound being the rustle of leaves beneath their feet.

SPRINGDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL*
The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day at Springdale Elementary. Emily slowly got up from her seat, weakly and slowly . Her seat partner, Hazel, noticed her weak movements but didn’t say anything, she gathered her own belongings instead.
Just then, Jake, Hazel’s friend, walked up to them.
“Hey Hazel” he said and looked at Emily.
“Emily, are you okay?” Jake asked looking concerned and Emily forced a smile.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just a bit tired” she said and slowly made her way out of the classroom. At the hallway, she saw Katharina waiting for her, a look of concern on her face.
“Hey, Emily! What’s with the pale face?” Katharina asked, rushing over to her.
“I’m okay, Katharina. Just a bit tired”
“Let’s get you home, then”
“Thanks for coming to pick me up”
“Oh c’mon,it’s nothing. Are you sure you are okay?”
“Yes”
Meanwhile, Hazel has been watching them for a while with a shocked look.
“They are related? Gosh I feel so terrible” she slapped her face repeatedly.

MRS GRAY’S STORE*
Katharina and Emily arrived at the store and they met Mrs Gray attending to a customer – Bianca.
“Katharina! Good to see you again” Bianca came to hug her excitedly.
“Same here”
“The last time we saw ourselves was at the charity gala right?” Bianca asked and Katharina nodded.
“Yeah,I still can’t thank you enough for lending me a ticket to attend it”
“Don’t mention it dear. I should have reached out to you after that day but I was just too busy”
“It’s okay”
“So how have you been?”
“Pretty much good”
“I actually came here to get a dress I’m gonna wear to a party this night. Will you come with me?” Bianca asked.
“What party is that?” Mrs Gray asked, leaving Emily who was sitting at a corner already at sleep.
“It’s a masquerade ball, Mrs Gray. The host, Mr Blade, is a wealthy collector of rare artifacts and art. He rented out the entire mansion for the evening, and the guest list is a closely guarded secret”
“A masquerade ball sounds intriguing. What’s the theme?” Katharina asked.
“The theme is ‘Midnight Dreams.’ Guests are required to wear masks and formal attire, and the dress code is black and gold. It’s going to be a night to remember!” Bianca squealed.
“That sounds incredible! I can’t wait”
“I know right?” Bianca grinned.
“Let’s find the perfect dress for you to wear. Something that will make you shine like a diamond in the night” Mrs Gray said.
“Me too Mrs Gray,that’s why I’m here” Bianca said.
“You two should come with me” she said walking deeper into the store and they followed her.

NIGHT AT THE MASQUERADE BALL ROOM*
The night of the masquerade ball had finally arrived, everyone chatting happily and looking excited. Guests in black and gold attire mingled and danced, their masks glinting in the light. Katharina and Bianca entered the grand ballroom dressed in their black and gold gown that fitted them perfectly, their eyes widening in awe.
“Wow, this is incredible!” Katharina breathed.
“I know, right?” Bianca said, her eyes sparkling.
As Katharina and Bianca mingled with the guests, the grand entrance doors opened and Marcus walked in, accompanied by Jenkins and Williams all masked up.
Katharina’s eyes met Marcus’, but she quickly turned away, her face hidden behind her mask.
Marcus scanned the room, and his gaze landed on Katharina. He suddenly appeared beside Katharina her and he grabbed her hand, pulled her through the crowd. Katharina didn’t bother to break free,she just followed.
He led her to quiet place,no body in sight. As soon as they were alone, he removed his mask revealing his handsome face and she smiled.
“Marcus” she called and removed her mask too.
“I knew it was you, even with the masks on, You can’t hide from me, Katharina. I’ll always find you”
Katharina’s heart skipped a beat at his words. She felt a tingle in her chest as she gazed at him.
“What are you doing here, Marcus?” she asked.
But before she could say another word, Marcus’s lips were on hers, silencing her. Katharina’s heart raced as she felt herself getting lost in the moment.
Marcus’s arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss. Katharina’s lips parted, and she reciprocated, her tongue tangling with his. The world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them, lost in the passion of the moment.
Marcus broke the kiss to look at her.
“What was the question again?”
“Fuck the question and just claim my lips, Marcus”.
