Katharina’s screams grew louder and more desperate as the pepper water continued to burn her skin, her vision blurring from the intense pain. She was trapped, helpless, and at Natalie’s mercy.
“You’re so weak, you think you can outsmart me? I’ll show you what happens when you cross me”
With a swift motion, Natalie poured a small amount of water over Katharina’s burning skin, barely reducing the pain.
“Don’t think this is an act of kindness, It’s just a temporary relief before the real agony begins”
Katharina gasped, her body trembling with pain.
“Please…stop…mercy…” she begged and Natalie laughed.
“Mercy? You should have thought of that before you meddled in my affairs. Now, you’ll face the consequences”
“Why are you doing this?” Katharina managed to ask and Natalie only laughed.
“Isn’t it obvious girl? You are hindering me from getting Marcus! You should be grateful you are not dead by now”
“You aren’t answering my question,why are you doing this? Why are you so desperate to get him?” Katharina asked and Natalie answered her with a stinging slap.
“Stop asking me baseless question, why I’m desperate for him doesn’t concerns you. Now,I feel like ending your stupid life cos you are annoying the hell outta right now”
“Please…just leave me alone”
“Not yet” Natalie said and she walked out of the room after turning the lights on.
“Marcus will come for me and you will be doomed!” Katharina shouted after her and Natalie entered the room again then turned on the light with a smirk playing on her lips.
“You really think I’m scared? Infact I don’t give a fuck and besides Marcus will never know”
“Do you know who I am?” Katharina asked her calmly.
“You are Katharina, a mere girl. What else should I know about you? Gosh, Marcus is blind,what does he sees you?”
“Something he doesn’t see in you” Katharina said and Natalie chuckled lightly.
“I see… Maybe you should tell me who you are, Katharina? I want to know you, perhaps you are the president daughter,I need to know please” Natalie said, obviously mocking her and Katharina only kept quiet.
“See? You are just Katharina, a mere and classless girl fighting Marcus with me”
“Point of correction, I’m not fighting Marcus with you. I don’t need to fight for what is already mine” Katharina said with so much confidence.
Natalie’s face turned red with anger.
“How dare you!? You think you’re so special, don’t you? Well, let me tell you, Katharina, you’re not. You’re just a temporary obstacle in my path to Marcus”
Katharina smiled, despite the pain she was in.
“You’re wrong, Natalie. I’m the one who has Marcus’s heart. And no matter what you do, you’ll never be able to take that away from me”
“We’ll see about that, You’re going to pay, Katharina. And soon, you’ll be begging for mercy”
With that, Natalie turned and left the room, leaving Katharina alone in the darkness. She intentionally said all that to annoy Natalie,she doesn’t even knows if Marcus loves but he kissed her. That’s enough evidence right? But she’s knows within her that she’s in love with him,right from the day she saw him for the first time at the restaurant,her Greek god.
Katharina smiled, remembering their kiss at the ball party, forgetting her present situation.

MRS GRAY’S HOUSE*
“Mum, Where’s Katharina?” Emily asked immediately Mrs Gray walked in through the door.
“Umm…my dear,she’s coming. Just had to get something on our way home” Mrs Gray said.
“Okay,I will wait for her”
“No sweetheart,you should go to bed now. You need to rest”
“No mum,I wanna see Katharina before I go to bed”
“Go to bed, Emily!” Mrs Gray yelled at her and she flinched fearfully,this will be the first time her mum will be yelling at her.
“I hate you!” Emily started crying and she left immediately for her room.
Mrs Gray bit her lips in regret, shouting on her daughter was the last thing on her mind.
She quietly sat down as she remembered how Natalie visited her in her store.
*FLASHBACK*
FEW HOURS AGO AT MRS GRAY’S STORE*
Katharina left the store minutes ago to get something down the street when Natalie entered the store looking at it like she’d seen shit.
“How may I help you?” Mrs Gray asked her in an unfriendly tone.
“Oh oh,that tone doesn’t sounds friendly to my ear”
“Thank God you know”
“Because I slapped your daughter,well I’m not sorry” Natalie said arrogantly.
“You are so evil”
“I know, you don’t need to remind me. I need you to do something for me when Katharina comes back. Just add this to her drink and leave the rest to me, understood?” Natalie said bringing out a tablet from her purse.
“You can’t just come into my store to order me to do something”
“You call this a store? I can have it demolished in the next 15 minutes if you don’t stop talking nonsense” Natalie threatened.
“I’m not doing what you ordered me to do for you so kindly leave” Mrs Gray pointed to the door.
“You love your daughter right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Just answer the damn question!” Natalie yelled.
“I do love my daughter”
“Then you won’t bear the pain of loosing her,right?”
“How dare you threaten me with my daughter?”
“If you still love your daughter,then do as I told you” Natalie dropped the tablet on the floor before she walked out of the store and Mrs Gray eyes welled with tears.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Now she feels terrible doing that to Katharina. She added the tablet to Katharina’s drink and offered it to her. Katharina slept off immediately and just then as if they have been monitoring her,two men came in to take Katharina away.
She couldn’t even do anything to do anything to stop them, Natalie threatened her with her daughter and she can’t risk that.
Emily is the reason why she’s still living, she’s staying alive for her daughter’s sake and she needs her daughter to stay alive for her,she has to fight the damn leukemia and stay alive.

MARCUS’ MANSION*
Natalie got home, she saw Marcus heading to his study room and she followed him.
“Stop following me” he sternly said, standing at the study room doorstep.
“How did you know I was behind you? You know my scent already?”
“Stop talking, Natalie”
“I love how you call my name,it melts my heart” she bit her lip seducingly.
“Good for you ,now leave” he said.
“When are we getting married?”
“Why do you want to marry me?”
“Because I love you, isn’t that obvious?”
“Why don’t I believe that?”
“Marry me first and I will prove it to you” she winked.
“You are smart”
“I’m glad you noticed”
“You just want us to get married?”
“Yes,just that” she smiled innocently and he chuckled.
“I will think about it” he walked past her and Natalie immediately blocked him, coming closer to him and trying to loosen her night wear.
“Don’t do that” he warned.
“You don’t find me attractive?”
“Maybe after our wedding” he said with a smile and he finally walked away.
“Is that a progress?” Natalie asked herself and she brought out her phone to call someone.
Marcus entered into his room, Hazel was sitting on his bed.
“It’s so hard to play along when all I can think of is to rip off her neck” Marcus said and Hazel chuckled.
“She will be caught soon right?”
“Yes dear,we need to know who she’s working for. It might be linked to who’s trying to kill your father”
“I hope she’s caught soon”
Marcus sat down next to Hazel on the bed and put his arm around her shoulders.
“You know, Hazel, I’ve been thinking. I want you to promise me something”
“Anything, dad. What is it?”
“I want you to promise me that if anyone ever threatens you or tries to hurt you, you’ll speak out. You won’t keep it to yourself, no matter what they say or do. Can you promise me that?”
Hazel looked up at him, her eyes wide with understanding.
“Of course, dad. I promise”
“That’s my little girl” he pulled her into a hug.
“Dad how’s things going with Katharina?” She asked breaking the hug.
“Is that an excuse to break the hug?” He accused.
“Of course not that”
“I’m just joking. Now that you mentioned her,I suddenly wanna see her. Hazel,she’s an epitome of beauty” he said smiling like a teenager.
“She is dad. Go see her” Hazel said.
“I’m definitely doing that, I need to tell her something bothering my mind” he said getting up with a smile and Hazel looked at her dad. He looked so happy just thinking about her, she will love who ever makes her dad happy.
“Wait,will you be fine alone with her?” Marcus suddenly asked, pointing towards Natalie’s room.
“I’m fine dad and besides,the workers are here and CCTV camera is installed everywhere”
“Okay. I will be back before you know it” he kissed her forehead and Hazel smiled.

MRS GRAY’S HOUSE*
Marcus arrived at the house and he came out of the car. He knocked gently on the door and Mrs Gray opened the door, surprised to see him.
“Mr Marcus!”
“Hello, Mrs Gray. Katharina, please” he said and Mrs Gray began fiddling with her fingers.
“Actually…. the thing is that, Katharina isn’t here at the moment”
“Where is she?”
“Let’s say Natalie took her away from the store this afternoon. I don’t even know where Katharina is right now,I know I’m a terrible person right now and I can’t stop thinking about it..”
“Stop talking. Natalie is so dead tonight!” Marcus said looking angry already as he went towards his car,he entered and he sped off angrily.
