Without minding, she wrapped her sweaty palm on the Beretta M9 and stepped out of the columbarium, joining her mother and brother outside.
She was targeted immediately, and a bullet almost hit her arm, but she hid behind a pillar before shooting back, bringing down that one.
Madden looked back swiftly.
“I fuçking told you to stay back!” He thundered angrily.
“I couldn’t… You both aren’t the only ones in the family. I am Maya Smirnov too!” She replied, coming out from behind the pillar as her hand continued shaking on the gun.
Madden pulled her to his back, covering her before shooting another one down.
“I can protect myself” Maya came back from behind him.
“If you get hurt, I’ll kill you” Madden told her with a glare.
Maya didn’t reply before joining Klara, shooting back-to-back with her.
They both covered Madden as he rushed all the way to the power house, going up through the raw metal stairs and kicking the door, but it wouldn’t open.
He shot at the door three times, and the knob flew off, making the door open easily, then he went in.
Seems like only one of them is still standing cos he’s hearing just one sound of a gunshot from a direction.
He went that direction, sliding across turbines and power plants till he arrived at the edge of the roof where that one is.
He’s still shooting at Maya and Klara, and he didn’t even look back till Madden grabbed him from behind, bringing him down before smashing his face hard.
His nose broke automatically, and the gun fell from him as blood rushed from his nose into his mouth.
“Who the fûck sent you?” Madden questioned, but he said nothing, so he smashed his face again, and his jaw shifted, cracking loudly.
“Who sent you to my damn family?” He muttered, but the guy only smiled, running his tongue on something in his mouth.
Before Madden could get it, he bit down on it, then he vomited black blood before slipping away from Madden’s hold, falling dead on the ground.
Madden squatted beside the body and pried his mouth open to see what he bit down on.
It’s a cyanide tooth! A suicide pill.
“Shit” Madden muttered.
This only means one thing…. Their sender knows him. He knows if he catches then, he’d torture them endlessly to get a name.
Whoever sent them knows his ability, which is why they wore cyanide tooth so if they got caught, they’d bite down on it and kill themselves.
This is another confirmation that they weren’t sent by Erik or Igor.
Those two aren’t this smart.
He stood straight, then Klara and Maya came up too.
“What happened? Why is he dead?” Maya asked.
Klara took a look at the mouth, and she sighed.
“Cyanide tooth?” She said, but Madden is too busy staring at the neck of the dead guy.
There’s a tattoo on the right side of his neck.
A cross tattoo.
He turned around to look at the necks of the other ones who were shot down, and they all also have the cross tattoo on the right side of their necks.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Maya asked him
“Let’s leave” Madden simply replied, leading the way back down.
His phone rang again on the stairs, and he stopped to fish it out.
It’s Lady Selesta calling.
He was wondering why before swiping green, and Angelika’s cries almost deafened him immediately.
It’s Angelika who called with Selesta’s phone.
“Fûck! Tone it down…” Madden took the phone far from his ear.
“They’re going to strip Micheal! They’re trying to tear her clothes at the torture ground. What if they find out she’s a female? The Pakhan will kill her… I don’t want my Adeline to die!!” Angelika cried louder.
Madden’s eyes flipped up, and streaks appeared in their corners.
“The fûck did you just say?”
“They’re going to…
Madden hung up and raced down the stairs, marching the dead bodies till he to his car.
Thankfully, he brought a different car, so the females can drive themselves home.
He hopped into his car and drove off roughly down the smooth road.
